I’m sure everyone knows by now about the controversy with Katy Perry’s breasts on Sesame Street. I do realize this topic may be a little overdone, but there are some things that really need to be said on the subject.

Katy Perry is a fairly small breasted woman. If she had bigger breasts I might see where parents are coming from when they say her outfit is too revealing.

But considering her breasts are completely covered, not to mention the extra layer of flesh covered mesh that goes up to her neck, I really can’t see what all the hype is about. Honestly, I have seen Miss Piggy wear more revealing clothing. The truth is, kids just don’t have perverted minds like we do. They don’t stare at Katy Perry’s breasts like a drooling zombie. They don’t care if you can see her thighs when Elmo runs around her legs. Do you know what kids care about? The cute music and flashy characters.

Kids do not have disgusting minds. But adults have self esteem issues. So honestly, what is the problem with Katy Perry’s outfit? Is it that she has a fantastic body while most parents of young children are still insecure about carrying around pregnancy weight? Is it because she is a popular artist and gets to sing for a living while most mothers are stuck at home picking up after their kids? Women, this needs to stop! It isn’t Katy Perry’s fault you are insecure about yourselves. Not being as pretty/skinny/talented/rich as Katy Perry does not make you ugly. Get over it, seriously, because jealousy is really unattractive.

If you’re really genuinely concerned for your children’s minds and it has nothing to do with insecurity or hating Katy Perry, let me tell you something. From baby years to thirteen years old, I used to go to a nudist camp. Consequently, I happened to spot a lot of breasts and penises and vaginas. You know what kind of emotional scarring and sick mind I have now? None (alright, maybe i do have a bit of a dirty mind but honestly, who doesn’t these days?). I grew up thinking the human body was natural and beautiful and I shouldn’t be ashamed of it. Growing up, I loved my body. I never looked at a pair of breasts and thought, “wow, those tits are hot.” I didn’t think body parts were inappropriate until adults drilled it into my head that they were. I didn’t think it was wrong to says “breasts” or “penis” or “vagina” until adults told me it was.

If you want your children to grow up thinking that their bodies are disgusting and need to be covered head to toe in clothing, fine.  I suggest you throw your TV out, though, because there’s a lot worse out there than Katy Perry in a dress. We were born naked, people. We were not born with clothes. We weren’t meant to wear clothes. So get over it, seriously. Katy Perry didn’t go on that show thinking, “Man, how can I score with some little kids? I know; I’ll wear this dress!” Because that would be sick. Just like thinking kids have such dirty mind that they even noticed her breasts is sick.

Love yourselves, women, and stop hating on Katy Perry.
