Here at Lovelyish, we’re always looking for new ways to embrace the Xanga community and really get everybody involved. Since we love reading all the comments just as much as you do, we thought it would be a fun idea to take a little sneak peak into the lives of some of our favorite readers!
Wouldn’t you like to know a little bit more about the person behind the avatar that’s bringing us such great advice and opinions? We know we would! So what better way to cure those Monday blues than a little Q & A with brooklynbro!
Lovelyish: What’s your real name, age (only if you feel up for sharing), and where are you from?
I live in New York City.
L: What do you do when you are not cruising through Lovelyish, reading posts and offering up advice?
I play soccer and basketball with weeknight leagues. I also go to a lot of concerts; I was an entertainment journalist in a past life.
On the weekends, I usually travel, visiting friends in Boston or Philly or DC. I like to camp/kayak/ hike, too, if I can get upstate or to rural Pennsylvania.
L: What are your favorite types of posts to read on Lovelyish?
My favorite types of Lovelyish posts are guest-blogs. The regular writers are great, and I think there are amazing news and opinion posts here every day, but I prefer the every-once-in-a-while author, personally. I love it when someone takes a great comment and hashes it out into a solid post and it makes the front page.
L: How did it feel to be a Top Contributor?
I don’t pay much attention to that top contributor stuff. If you spend too much time looking at your numbers, then you’ll stop creating and get bogged down with what other people think. I know what I want to put out there, and so long as I can do that, I’m happy.
L: We would love to have a guy’s perspective, what have you learned about women by reading Lovelyish?
As much as I provide a “guy’s perspective” as you say, I think I’m just one man. It’s dangerous to generalize — I definitely feel like folks vary person-to-person more than they do according to their gender or sex.
At work, I’m the only straight male in my group, and I did my university thesis in Feminist theory, so I try to keep a balanced perspective and not see things in a black-or-white way.
L: If you could only bring 3 items to a deserted island, what would they be?
1) A Kindle with a bunch of books downloaded onto it
2) A handcrank to power the battery for the Kindle
3) My best friend, to talk about the books with
L: What is one of your most prized possessions?
I have a few pieces of art that friends produced for me or that we made together, and they’re totally unique, so I cherish them. With other stuff, you can always buy a replacement.
L: What/Who is your guilty pop culture pleasure?
A friend recently turned me onto “Millionaire Matchmaker,” and I think it’s terrible but fascinating, too. So we eat pizza and chug beer and scream at the TV while watching the doofus dudes go after big-chested bimbos. Thanks brooklynbro for indulging our curious minds! Happy Monday Lovelies!

Seeing as how most people missed the mark and went on the attack on his recent article, the comments on this post should be interesting.

Uninteresting and he seems bipolar. Pick a personality and stick with it.

Ha, well, I knew he wrote with his tongue firmly lodged in his cheek… but feminist theory? I wasn’t expecting that.

@SaMoAnTeiNe00@xanga - lol, i’m diagnosed bipolar. we do have one personality, we just have extreme highs and lows in terms of mood. i think the disorder you were looking for was “dissociative identity disorder”.
and.. brooklynbro, you sound like a pretty decent person, in addition to writing posts that are funny & generate amusing comments
