You shouldn’t overthink. It’s dangerous! And you definitely shouldn’t get bent out of shape because of little things. They don’t matter at all in the big scheme of things. Overthinking forces your mind to go on and on about stupid things and makes you fall into a downward spiral of negativity. So just quit while your behind. It’s not good for you or for anyone around you (PMS symptoms, anyone?)
Here are 5 ways to stop overthinking….
1. Every time you find yourself in a rut and the negative thoughts start entering your mind, do something fun (like coloring, running, or reading) to get your mind off things.
2. Remind yourself that life throws curve balls. This will make you less reactive to things that don’t go your way.
3. Accept the fact that you cannot change the past. It’s over and done with so stop thinking about it.
4. Write down a list of positive things–places you like to visit, things you’re good at, life accomplishments, favorite foods, things that make you happy, etc.
5. Meditate (although this isn’t the best suggestion for those who are constantly jittery/unable to relax). If you are able to bring yourself to this serene state of peace, don’t think about anything, just breathe.
Are you guilty of overthinking, Lovelies? What helps you stop the negativity from taking over your thoughts?

Meditation works best for me. It takes practice, but it’s worth it.

To all the ladies who are struggling with the size they are and/or they weight they look…BE YOURSELF! You ARE an original work of God. Find yourself and never let it go xx

well, i guess coloring would be an efficient way to quit overthinking. >.< i think “overthinking” is quite an obstacle for many women, myself included. an intelligent, emotional lady can become exhausted easily. however, that doesn’t mean you have to dumb yourself down. (which this article is NOT suggesting) overthinking does not equal negative thoughts. it’s about balancing the way you analyze certain situations.

i’m glad coloring is the first fun thing you listed. ahahaha.

Okay, but what if you over-think everything, not just the negative stuff? I have a brain that won’t shut up, to the point that it keeps me awake until odd hours of the night just…thinking.

Second guessing & overanalyzing messes you up sometimes (not counting life saving situations of course). Mainly for me it’s testing & it’s proven a majority of the time your first choice is the right one. Then I zoom in on the negative instead of seeing all the good I did.
This is why I never leave home without my Ipod. Music helps relax me. I have a song for just about everything.

Can’t help the negative thoughts..I’m bipolar..currently without medication..so yeah. And not being able to get away from negative things doesn’t help either. Sometimes you don’t have the time or money or anything to do that. It just happens. >.>
I don’t over analyze thank god…
Interesting though..

Overthinking is a terrible habit of mine. Whenever I’m caught overthinking by my friends, I get lectured by my friends sometimes. It sucks because it brings me down more. I don’t think it’s easy to stop. For me, I usually need the encouragement and reassurance from others. Aside from that, there’s nothing else to help me.

I remind myself that this is a moment that will soon pass and I will feel better so may as well speed up the moment and get to the feeling better part.

Oh… So incredibly guilty. I’m a terrible overthinker. I think I’m getting better though! It usually stops when I’m in the middle of a conversation, because instead of pondering what I should of done, I think of what to say next, and attempt to make it come out right.
I usually think of things i say because I’m that friend, you know, the one with the random, yet idiotic comment that has no relation to the topic. I’m such an odd bird -_-
Meditation really helps ^_^

I overthink waaay too much and it always get me into troubles. I think it’s important to just center and remember that yes, things happen and there’s no use overthinking them.

I just ignore the thoughts and do whatever thing I am trying to over-think. I remind myself that I can’t control everything and that I can handle problems as they arise. I do think this is a good list. I do a lot of the things on here as well.

2 and 3 are an epic win. Whenever something bad happens to me, I just try my best to make that work in my favor as much as possible. Even if it’s still not working in my favor, at least I’ve mitigated the damage it does.

all women are guilty of overthinking because that’s how the female brain works. it’s biology. it is still a good idea to try these tips to control it though. remind yourself that you’re overthinking things because of your female brain, and that things might not be the way you’re seeing them.

@ChalkWhiteAndOhSoFrail@xanga - :)
I’m a pessimist. I’m not sure if there is any other way for me to be because I am sure as hell not an optimist. Is there even an in-between? LOL
