At least one California girl is releasing a fragrance line this year.

Katy Perry is launching her perfume, “Purr.” (I refuse to make a cat joke, sorry.) I am surprisingly unsurprised at the name and the career move.

“I’m a very lyrical-based person, and the whole ‘purr’ thing kept coming back,” said Perry. “[The sound is in] perfume, perfect, even Perry if you say it a certain way. It just seemed logical. The hardest part was keeping it under wraps for a year. I kept wanting to tell someone!’

Perry mentioned that she is inspired by the style and fashion smarts of Gwen Stefani and cute anime characters and dancing fruit

Tons of celebs have fragrance lines, men and women alike. Brittany Spears, Beyonce, Usher, Prince, Mariah Carey, the list goes on.

Many of them also fold, regardless of whether they smell good or not. In my opinion it has a lot to do their their audience simply not buying fragrances and the fact that, well, scented body wash/ lotion/shampoo is hella cheaper.

Honestly though, the description does sound yummy. Purr has “top notes of peach nectar, forbidden apple and green bamboo; a heart of jasmine blossom, pink freesia and Bulgarian rose, and a drydown of vanilla orchid, white amber, creamy sandalwood and musk.”

The bottle is cat-shaped with jeweled eyes, metallic accents and lavender sheen.

Purr will be sold at Nordstrom. 1 oz. for $36, 1.7 oz. for $45 and 3.4 oz. for $65. Body lotion and bubble bath, will also be available.
