I’ve come across a couple of posts about special bras that flat chested girls can buy. It’s practically impossible to find bras in normal stores if you are really small or really big. These bras were for girls with AA or AAA cup sizes. Since bras of this size do not sell in stores, it was an awesome idea for the original poster to share links where girls can buy cute bras even if they are small. But of course, some people thought that girls who are this small do not need bras.
They were saying this in kind of an insulting way. This kind of pissed me off for various reasons, but instead of being pissy I will just list a few reasons why we need bras too.
1. Whether someone has an AAA or F+ cup size, there will be many instances where their nipples will poke through the shirt if they are not wearing a bra. I personally don’t like it when I see girls without bras on. It’s kind of gross. I feel that it’s courteous to others to make sure that nipples don’t stick out. This is also extremely important if a girl is in a professional environment.
2. No matter what your cup size is, your chest will always look nicer and curvier under a fitted or tight shirt if you are wearing a bra. Because face it, bras totally enhance the size and shape of your chest. Even with light padding, it makes boobs look much nicer under a shirt.
3. We want to feel feminine too! Bras are extremely feminine pieces of clothing. They can come in all sorts of designs, colors, and styles. Why should we skip out on that just because we’re flat?
I don’t think I need to list any more reasons. So there!

Even the smallest of girls will sag. Bras help support the girls. Support your ta-tas, kids.

pasties will work perfect for the girls with small boobs. I’d wear them. I used to want to when I had small boobs but then they grew too much.

i agree! bras r as essential as undies

I agree. Apparently some people have the idea that just because someone “doesn’t have boobs” also means they don’t have nipples either, which is ridiculous.
guest
I completely agree. Might I add that wearing bras can help lift your boobs, put them in the proper place, and make them seem bigger than they really are? Because no one wants to see saggy tits or someone running and their boobies slapping them in their face. That’s not very attractive.

It’s more of a personal choice, I think.
The nippy problem can be solved with an undershirt.

Am I the only liberated woman on this planet? I have a small chest and sometimes, it is NOT necessary to wear a bra. I wear a bra maybe 75% of the time, yes. But the other 25% I just say fuck it. And guess what? Breasts, boobs, whatever you want to call them are NATURAL. So whoever says its “gross” or “ugly”—well I feel sorry for you because they’re womanly and beautiful, no matter what shape or size.
guest
I use pasties when I’m wearing a knit, but beyond that, I refuse to put one on.

@shes_lump@xanga - Oh, I am SO with you! I’m an A-B depending on the time of month (though I’m only 4’6″ tall so they don’t look small on me at all) and I only wear a bra in professional situations or when I’m around people who I know would be offended if they knew I wasn’t wearing one. At least 80% of the time (I work from home, so “professional situations” don’t happen too often
I am braless and loving it.

Totally agree. Don’t need any other reason to convince me!

i agree. i’m a flat chested lady, but a bra makes me feel lady-like and sexy… regardless if people really think I need one or not
guest
It’s a matter of preference. Some of these reasons sound kind of insulting to begin with. Bras are feminine yes but guess why? Because breasts are extremely feminine. As @shes_lump@xanga - says.
It’s not necessarily that others don’t think you should wear bras if you have a smaller breasts. I’ve always been jealous of the fact that you can actually not wear a bra and get away it. And I’ve never met a girl with a bigger chest stating this “fact” in an insulting way.
And just so you know, if you’re wearing a cloth bra (i.e. not padded) your nipples can still pop up and be visible. I don’t see why people like to think bras solve that problem.
guest
@her_phantasmagoria@xanga - Agree! considering when I was way young and I wore a AA it is really almost just a preference. Not neccessity. Now as a DD it is just neccessity lol.

meh. I think it is a sad day when our culture finds nipples “gross.” When will everyone stop being two-faced about actually accepting the way our bodies look as the way they look? women do not naturally have smooth, unnippled breasts. there’s nothing “gross” about that!
guest
hahahahaha offensive nipples.
guest
I dont think Bar is the best choice for the photo cause she has some large (well.. I would not consider her flat….) tatas
guest
It’s not just a matter of nipples, it’s also the fact that women actually do come in all sizes, not just fat and curvy and cups B-D but also thin and small busted A cups and under, and these women would like to dress like women just like those of all the other sizes do. Some women might choose not to wear a bra but some of us do choose to do so and we don’t want to have to go to the kiddie department to dress ourselves, thank you very much. Those of us who are A cups have enough breasts to need a bra to provide support and prevent sagging and to give some shaping for fitted shirts.
I was really disgusted by some of the snarky comments from women (who then boasted about their own large chest size – do you think you’re more of a woman or something? you’re not) who didn’t like the idea that there are companies that provide options for women who carry a small size. In case you hadn’t heard, there are specialty companies serving large busted women. Why shouldn’t smaller busted women have options too? Some of the comments that said small busted women have bodies like little boys or that this is pedophile wear was really out of line. How offended would you be if someone called you fat or ugly because of the way your body is shaped? Why is it OK to be nasty to thin or smaller busted women? I hope they choke on their haterade.
Good post.

You don’t need to wear a bra to create “curvy” and “flattering” bust images to the people you encounter, it’s simply perpetuating the depiction of women as standard sexual symbols. Wearing undergarments is a personal choice, not one to be dictated by society – hence the privacy of such items.
I hate wearing bras because they’re so restraining. I’ll agree to say that nipples are not especially appropriate when seen through a shirt, so I wear the pasties. I’m a C cup, a 16-year-old girl, and often go bra-less, all while maintaining a chic, professional, and completely classy look with comfort.
Undergarments are obviously a personal choice, so please don’t go preaching the fact that EVERYONE should wear a bra when there are perfectly fine alternatives to those who wish for them. Creation of this “curvy” or “lifted” body image is simply perpetuating the female objectivity and sexism that still runs rampant in this country.

If I was flat, I’d stick to pasties and undershirts. Bras are such a waste of money.

It’s nice that they have bras for girls that want them. For if you’re in high school and have gym where you have to change in front of your peers it’s nice to have pretty underwear or if you’re in a professional situation yeah you probably don’t want your nips to make an appearance. In most other situations, personally, I do not think it is a necessity. 1) Nipples? Um, hello. Everybody has nipples. They are not gross. 2) Like I care what my boobs look like to other people. I want them looking at my face, not my chest. And if you do want attention from the opposite sex I’m pretty sure they
don’t mind that you go braless. 3) Breasts don’t need bras to make them feminine. There’s a reason some people refer to their breasts as “the girls”.

i wear a bra all the time because i have big boobs and it’s uncomfortable for me not to, i mean i don’t want them jiggling around and whatever.

@bluehoursky@xanga - @TifaRose@xanga - It
would have to be a pretty thick undershirt…which can make things hot
or uncomfortable to me. Those nipples can get really pointy and
sharp! Jk about the sharp thing haha. But ya if you like pasties
that’s cool too.
@shes_lump@xanga -
I don’t think any girls should wear bras 100% of the time. If you’re
sleeping or sitting around the house in private, it’s not a problem to
go bra less.
@TheLuckiestWomanEver@xanga - Whatever people do at home is not my business. No problem with that.
@ScarletMoth@xanga - It’s a bit not modest at the very least. It surely wouldn’t be acceptable in a professional environment.
@prettyperfectionxo@xanga -
You’re really reading too much into this if you’re talking about sexism
and objectification of women. There’s nothing sexist with wanting to
have a curvylike, neat looking chest. I am certainly not promoting
sexism or anything. I don’t know how you’ll get away with not wearing
a bra at the workplace, unless you’re wearing a suit/jacket over your
shirt. If people would rather wear pasties that’s cool too. But my
post is for the flat women who want to wear bras, which there’s plenty
of.
@TheSecretLifeofBeebee@xanga - I don’t think it’s exactly modest. After all, camel toes are natural, but that certainly isn’t appropriate or modest, especially in the workplace. I feel the same way about nipples. That’s just my opinion anyways. And my post is for flat women who want to wear bras. I am defending them from the mean remarks from a different post. Nothing wrong with that.
guest
I agree, I think its needed for everyone to wear a bra, because of the whole nipple thing.
But the size AAA is over my head, I didn’t think anyone would be smaller than AA.
guest
I think bras are an incredibly sexy piece of clothing. I always feel a little more confident when I’m wearing an attractive bra (even if no one can see it). That’s one of the reasons I like bras. It’s extremely difficult for me to find nice padded bras for an A-cup. I’m not even AA or AAA, and it’s still difficult. I don’t know if that relates. Bras are great. I love them. I don’t care if my wearing a bra perpetuates the idea of a woman being viewed as a sexual symbol, because frankly, I like being a sexual symbol. So bra me up, baby.
guest
NO shit. I think most people were just saying, honestly, if I had small ones, I would LOVE not wearing a bra a lot. Obviously there’s a time and a place for everything. The things you posted are common knowledge, no shit you don’t want your nipples poking through your shirt, and pasties would probably feel weird, and who the fuck wears them when you’re not in an intimate setting ? 0.o Sweet jesus what a waste of a post.
I’m not trying to offend anyone, and I don’t want to be “nasty” to small chested women, of course not! and FYI there are NOT many companies that “cater” to big busted girls. Most of the shirts I buy, I want to go braless in because I fit everywhere else BUT my chest, which is usually too big! Unfortunately I can’t go braless, because I don’t want everyone looking at me and going “oh look she’s braless.” cause you can totally tel……
guest
eh i dont care if i see chicks bra-less, with their nipples and i dont get why it bothers you?
women need to stop being objectified and should be able to feel free to go bra-less whenever we want. and im not saying that as a nazi feminist but realist.
people need to stop caring what other people are doing.

sunflower / 260 posts
Well, I’ll just go ahead and say why I don’t necessarily agree with your reasons.
Yes, one’s nipples will show through a shirt. But, why shouldn’t they? I don’t really understand the vendetta against nipples showing through shirts Everyone has them! Even men! Mandating that women must hide their nipples just seems like one of those bizarre fashion principles that will one day in the future be looked upon as unnecessary and stifling. Like having to hide your cleavage or no being able to show your legs.
I kind of agree with you on point #2. A bra will make breasts look curvier and “nicer”. But at the same time, I realize that I only think that because I’ve grown up in a society where everyone wears bras and that’s the shape that looks natural to me, even though it’s not. It’s a standard of beauty that only exists because everyone does it.
@live_for_love@xanga - Not really. They sag regardless of whether or not you wear a bra just due to aging, genetics, breast feeding, and other factors. Bras only prevent any sagging while you’re wearing them, but not in your future.

@ohletitbe@xanga - I’m so glad your enlightened, but not everyone is. This was shown by the other post with AAA bras. So no need to be so angry. You act like this is a fat vs skinny post. Hah!
@stepandrun@xanga - @MissPixieGlitter@xanga - Well, camel toes are completely natural, but it’s not considered to be modest or appropriate. That’s how I feel about nipples. Bras are an absolute must if you’re in a professional environment.
@FantasyDreamerGrl@xanga - Well, camel toes are completely natural, but it’s not considered to be modest or appropriate. That’s how I feel about nipples. You’re reading way too hard into my post if you’re talking about objectification of women and sexism. Are you so offended when people promote cute and cool make up, clothes, and accessories? After all, those items are also considered to be a desired item because of standards of society. I doubt you make a fuss over those things, so chill.
@shaded_heart11892@xanga - Well about that cute top. If you’re flat and you don’t have a bra on..you’ll be a total surfboard and you wont have that nice curvature when you wear the tank top. You might even have extra room up there in your shirt which isn’t flattering.

@TifaRose@xanga - agreed.
Plus, wanting some curve where you don’t have any is blatantly misleading. Either be happy with the way you look, or get implants. Faking it doesn’t do anyone any good.
I disagree that you need a bra if you’re flat. The only logical reason is to cover up your hard nips. Everything else is shallow and self-fulfilling. Don’t be fake. Be happy with yourself, or do something to change. I hate when people stuff their bra.

I’m by no means “flat”–I wear a 34D or so. Regardless, I go braless a lot during the summer. Why have one more piece of sweaty clothing sticking to you?

I appreciate the fact that I don’t NEED a bra for support, but it looks damn weird unless I’m wearing a baggy t-shirt if I don’t have a bra on. I’m not flat, I’m an A, so it’s like awkward little mounds when I have a shirt on. Thanks for this post. The idea that a flat girl should just go braless all the time is dumb. and undershirts don’t help, at least not last time I checked. and pasties sound uncomfortable.
guest
I don’t wear bras often, they’re uncomfortable. I have small breasts and a broad back so it’s very hard to find good bras. I also like the feeling of my boobs being free and jiggly. Why do I have to feel ashamed of my nipples because of a natural function? I shouldn’t have to cover myself and feel like I’m being judged because my nipples decide to say hello.

I’m in my young teens and as a B cup, I wear bras. Ever since I began to wear them since the 6th grade (trainers 3rd), I wear my old training bras in the house because without a bra, I feel uncomfortable around my dad and brothers. But I dont wear any bra to bed.
Anyway, I wouldnt go braless, but if others want to thats their choice. There are some girls who dont even cover themself in the public changerooms- again, their choice/lifestyle.

the only time I don’t wear a bra is if I am wearing a summer dress or a tube top, but even than half the time I will still wear a sports bra…half the time all I wear are sports bras, I am not big enough to fill out a regular one but I still like wearing a bra when I go out, otherwise I feel super uncomfortable

…or you can wear a bra if you want, or you can not wear a bra if you want. No big deal.
guest
I’m pretty flat, and I have to disagree with your friend who wrote this post. Wearing bras isn’t something feminine. That’s a gender ideal. But protecting your nipples is a must in the professional world. I’m 100% with her!!! I’m going to be a high school teacher soon and I can’t have my students notice that I’m not wearing a bra!
Of course, we want to protect our boobies from gravity, and we want to keep them safe and secure under our shirts. But, but, but, all my life I’ve had this obsession with how small my boobs are. I’ve cheated everyone by wearing push up bras since high school. I always felt second-rate. All because of this perfect breast obsession. Women who are AA’s and AAA’s do not need bras. I was there, at 15, 16, etc. It’s good to go bra-less once in a while if you can because it makes you feel completely free, breathing freely, accepting your body for its size shape and weight. I don’t know, there’s something provoking about the women in the 60s who burned their bras. Don’t forget ladies, women used to wear corsets, and the word bra comes from brassiere. Corsets constrained the female form and *forced* it into a specific shape. Wear a bra if you need support, but don’t wear the bra to fit an image.
guest
i agree.
guest
I agree.
. Sometimes I don’t even like sports bras because I feel like it doesn’t give me the protection a normal bra does–especially in a cold classroom.
Seriously, do our classrooms really need to be that cold?!

I think nipples showing is sexy and the is NOTHING wrong with them showing. If you have a problem with nipples dont look. Everyone has them and it isnt a problem. Some guys have large nipples and they sure as shit dont cover up.

yeah i don’t believe you HAVE to wear a bra because now it’s the ‘normal’ thing to do. why are people offended by breasts and nipples? they are covered aren’t they? i am not trying to hide that i have (small) boobs, but im not trying to show it off either.

who says “curvier” is synonymous with “nicer”? i wear a AA and almost never wear a bra, and if i do it’s either a bandeau or one of those teeny no underwire lace ones. bras and big boobs are overrated, in my opinion.

@StillNotaPrettyGirl@xanga - Umm
even if people do have boobs they often times don’t wear cloth bras.
It usually has a little padding. So if we all listened to you,

@seek_happiness@xanga - @DraigStudio@xanga - @JesusWillEatYourFace@xanga - Well, camel toes are natural too but people don’t go around propmoting that. I still think it’s a waste of money. I haven’t bought one in years. Rather stick to pasties and layering shirts in the summertime. In the winter sweaters and other thick clothing make layering unnecessary.
Really I’m too flat-chested to bother with it. (There’s nothing there for a bra to enhance!) But I remember reading in Vogue once that Selma Blair had a hard time finding a cute bra for her wedding night. That made me realize some women find bras a necessity to their sexuality, and I respect that.
But I’d still rather chop off my right arm then buy one.

I’m a C and I don’t always wear a bra, mainly on weekends when I’m taking my dog to the park, where I don’t see anyone I know, or when I’m in the house. I’m not bothered as to whether women do or do not wear bras. I think it looks nicer when they do, but it doesn’t offend me or anything. I like wearing them when out and about, and when doing exercise because otherwise they bounce.
I do think it’s important that there are more options for girls with smaller boobs, and the same for girls with larger ones. There should also be more options for women who don’t like underwired bras, as here in the UK non-wired bras tend to be really boring in the shops.

@Kittyluve@xanga - Well I do love seeing a woman in a sexy bra. There isnt anything wrong with women wearing a bra whatever their size. I prefer small breasted women. I think large breasts are gross overall. A bra is just a sexy addition. I love them.

I am always appalled when flat chested girls walk around without a bra on, as if the cultural rules don’t apply to them. Sorry honey, your sheer tank top ain’t doin it.

I work part time in the sleep wear section at work and I have not been trained to fit someone for their bra size yet and I dont want to either because I see so many women of all sizes with no damn bra on, I am like wtf people have some respect for yourself! Plus you cannot get a real true to fit bra size if your not wearing one, and who wants to fit you with them all out and about? No one!

I’m a full b-cup and sometimes I don’t wear a bra. It’s not that big of a deal. Everybody has nippies and it’s just way more comfy.

I only have 34As, but I feel too… Naked without a bra. I feel like a bra and underwear is something a girl should always have on. I only go braless if i’m wearing a dress that has cups in it, or a tube top/dress.
And haven’t you seen those old, large women who go out in public braless in thin t-shirts? Oh, christ. Boobs hanging to where no boobs should. Prime example. Wear bras, please. Maybe you want to see your tits, but not everyone else does…

After watching a few episodes of a show I shouldn’t mention because of its . . . mature nature . . . it was nice to learn that bras -should- fit your size and that you shouldn’t wear ones bigger than your actual size. Considering that a woman’s nipples are relatively sensitive, it also provides for more protection, especially while going through puberty (if anyone reading this knows which show I’m talking about . . . NO, I didn’t finish it -.-)

I’m small… and I only go bra-less at home or if I’m just out running errands. Nevertheless, when I’m in a professional setting, have guests, or am going somewhere, I definitely always wear a bra–at least one of those tank tops with shelf bras. It’ll hold whatever IS there in place, and provide enough nip coverage

Wear a bra if you want to. If you don’t, don’t. If you have really big boobs you should probably wear one to the office. I don’t really understand why anyone cares what undergarments other people wear.
If I had a small chest I would probably never wear one.

Yeah- I agree with your post, but not the title. It shouldn’t have read “flat girls ‘shouldn’t really go bra-less” — but rather I just think that “flat girls have good reasons to wear bras!”
I will do either depending on my mood or my outfit.

There is no reason for a small breasted woman to wear a bra. They are not only uncomfortable, you do not look natural and it is much sexier to go without.
One of the greatest advantages to being an A or B cup is being able to shed that useless garment entirely!
