It’s summer, and I’m currently in a coffee shop rocking my gladiator sandals from last season (they’re not the extreme up-to-the-knee ones, they just have a hint of wide straps and buckles). And I just realized…no one else is wearing them.
Do you think gladiator sandals are still trendy, Lovelies? If not, what’s the new summer shoe?
guest
that’s all i wear! i just bought 2 more pairs to add to the only other pair I had and i love them. it gives a different edge to an outfit that a pair of flats or flip-flops wouldn’t.
guest
when i went to singapore 2 weeks ago, gladiator shoes were all the girls were wearing. it’s not dead yet.
guest
i have golden ones. i still think they’re super cute. i notice that everyone wears the one that looks like thongs for you feet kind of sandals.

I still love them, and probably will continue to love them once they go “out of style” again.
guest
I want them to be tired, but, unfortunately, everywhere I look I am told differently. UGH. They are so annoyingly ugly.
guest
i love gladiators, they’re so easy to wear and give a different style than the normal flip flops for summer.
guest
I only have one pair, but i love them!

Tired. Always tired. I hate this trend.

i’ve always thought those were so ugly.
guest
I also always thought those were hideous.

They’re so fucking ugly.

meh, i’m not very stylish and i don’t try to follow trends. i love gladiator sandals and i’d wear them even if they were out of style.
guest
I love these! I need a decent pair.
guest
I don’t have any because they fit my feet funny, but they are cute even if people think they’re out of style!

i love them. trendy.

Theyre shoes……i refuse to believe that someone expects me to stop wearing sandals because theyre ” out of season”

I love gladiator sandals. Probably because all I wear are flip flops/sandals, and they make outfits dressy. loooove them.

I think they are ugly.

i was just in spain a week ago, they are ALL OVER THE PLACE. I even saw some today at church this morning… but anyway, I dont go with the trend, I go with what I feel like wearing!!!!
guest
Ugliest style of sandals ever, sorry. Never had a pair, never will.

I think more people are wearing a simpler version of the gladiator, less strappy.
guest
Still wear them because they provide slightly more top-foot support (still no bottom padding) than flip-flops – more straps to pull up the shoe when I lift my foot. Therefore, less toe-clenching needed (hopefully). They make an outfit look slightly nicer if I didn’t bother to assemble it properly in the morning.

yaaaaawwwn, i’m tired of jesus shoes.

They’re extremely tired and have always been ugly.
guest
tired . it was so spring .. just not in anymore ..
guest
Well, they may not still be trendy to damn hipsters, but I still think they’re cute (as long as they’re simple).
In southern California, the summer shoe is definitely a pair of Rainbow sandals. Practically all of the athletes at my school have a pair or two.

The ankle ones are cute. The ones that go up to the knee & make you look like an extra from 300 make no kind of sense.

@SUPletstake___surveys@xanga - These are GLADIATOR sandals, not Jesus sandals. To my knowledge, the gladiators were neither in the same place, nor in the same time period as Jesus. ( just a historical inaccuracy).
Anyway, I’m tired of these shoes too. I never thought they were appealing from the start.
guest
@pritykity027@xanga - haha, i know; it’s just a joke i like to use. they just make me think of jesus.
guest
I like them better when they’re high heels.

Yuck.

I hated these when they first came out but I bought a pair from Forever21 earlier this spring because I hadn’t found any that I really liked. I only wear these when I’m tired of wearing flip flops though..
guest
its soo ugly
guest
WAY better than jelly shoes or regular old foamy flip-flops. If there’s anything tired that I hate, it’s FLIP FLOPS, ugh.
@littlemissrikki@xanga - I agree
guest
i saw wear whatever the hell you want to wear.

Tired. Tired. Tired. Tired. Tired.
Unless they are heels.
(this is probably because I dislike sandals/flats in general)

Still trendy and very comfortable!

did anyone ever say what new “summer shoe” is out now?
guest
A few gladiator sandals are pretty cute. Hmm, trendy-ish, I suppose.
guest
I used to think they were ugly and still find some to be a no no but after trying on a pair and seeing how it matched with all my clothes I came to sort of like them. Same with harem pants which are comfyyy! I don’t really see any other sandals that are nice anyways…..
guest
they by far are amazing! I own so many. They are so comfffy. Keeep Gladiators cominggg.
guest
hey! i have those exact shoes

this is slightly funny

They are still trendy, if you wear them with the right outfit, which is less hippy and more egdy.

I have edgy gladiator sandals where the tops are zippers. They’re really trendy and I think they’re flattering on one’s feet
orchid / 147 posts
Trendy as all get out. I want a pair of my own. Victoria’s Secret is selling a pair of calf-high gladiator sandals…they’re amazing…expensive…and I want them.
guest
I love them but they are made so junky!
guest
I don’t follow trends =P
guest
Why won’t you just wear them because you like them? Who cares if they’re out of style? If it’s tired and no one wears them anymore, they seem more fashionable then.
The true purpose of fashion is to express oneself.
guest
@onesteppolaroids@xanga - ooh, those are comfortable. especially those with flat feet like me.
funny that i run XC
guest
I work in a shoe store… and they’re not “out”, but there are fewer of them in stores. The one pictured is still cute and trendy though. Personally, I love gladiator shoes and I will wear them whether they are in or out. Who cares about trendiness though, really? If you like them, think they look cute, and they’re comfortable for you, ROCK THEM. I sometimes rejoice when something I love & wear goes out of style, that way people can see I would wear them anyways and everyone else was just a poser.

Everyone wears them.
guest
they’re.. so bad for your feet..
guest
Um, yeah…”Trendy or tired”, I am still gonna be rockin em! I just adore em. I don’t wear heels, && they are a great substitute to the plain flats/ black sandals.

@xbreak_dance_NOT_hearts19X@xanga - Seriously! Haha no way, I used to run xc! Not doing it this year though. The whole girls team, even the guys’ team, had some lol.
guest
@onesteppolaroids@xanga - haha, all the guys in our XC team just wear their aasics. Why aren’t you doing it this year? :[
guest
@xbreak_dance_NOT_hearts19X@xanga - Haha nice. Well I really, really, REALLY wanted to, but I wouldn’t be able to make it to practices; I’m going to be doing an internship thing that starts right after school every day :/ Good luck to your team though!
guest
i love it, but tires of it.
