Kristen Stewart, everybody’s hated (and loved) girl in Hollywood, appeared at the Eclipse movie premiere wearing this asymmetrical white dress last week. Like how some people criticize the peep-toe booties as nonfunctional and impractical, one-sleeve clothing can also be said of that.
Advantages of wearing asymmetrical clothing:
- You can appear to look cool. I guess it depends on how you define cool, but for sure, you will look different.
- It’s easily designed. You can take any clothing you have right now (whether it be pants or a shirt with sleeves) and it can be a simple diy project! Use your scissors and cut, cut, cut! Don’t worry about the frays – they give the clothing more edge.
- No need to shell out lots of dough for a top/dress with adornments. The asymmetrical is enough to make a statement on its own.
Disavantages of wearing asymmetrical clothing:
- You might risk getting weird tan lines! Look at Kirsten’s arms, if she wore that dress all day, she’d end up with one baked arm and the other pasty pale.
- This style DOES NOT flatter everybody.
- You can’t wear it during summer or winter – you’ll end up being too hot or too cold!
How do you feel about asymmetrical clothing? Do you own any?

I loooove asymmetrical dresses! I’m not a huge fan of the half-pants deal, but tops and dresses are super adorable
I hope they aren’t tired yet, I have a dress that I’ve only worn once!

i love asymmetrical clothing! …just not the one Kristen’s wearing in that picture lol. As long as you wear one that doesn’t make you look awkward, I think its interesting and fun

My feelings on asymmetrical clothing vary depending on the item. While I didn’t hate Kristen’s dress yesterday, it does leave me with the urge to design something fabulous out of sequins and Quilted Northern.

I like it but I don’t like it when it’s completely diff, like what kristen is wearing, one long sleeve n one bare..

I think clothes can be asymmetrical and still practical. Short-sleeved one-shoulder tops are fine for example, or just an interesting hemline on a dress or shirt. I also LOVE asymmetrical/slanted zippers or buttons on a jacket.
I’m not a big fan of impractical asymmetrical clothes though. I’ll pass on the one-sleeved bulky sweater.

I have hated asymmetrical clothing, that is, until I saw a dress at J Crew: erez
Even then, with the exception of this dress I’m not wild for them, especially what Kristin is wearing. Although, I’ll take her Christian Louboutin shoes.

I just want to know where the hill is on her shoes…

Look at those legs!

I don’t like it as much with the long sleeves. But I have an asymmetrical dress, it has those fabric flowers on the strap for an edgy-feminine look. I think it can look good if you pull it off right.

wait… what are her shoes… what is going on?

i’ve never liked it/would never wear it. asymmetry in any form bugs me. even if i wear a bracelet, i have to wear one on the other wrist to balance.

i like it
most of the dresses that i make are assymetrical with different designs on them and huge collar parts
it just looks different…but can also look disastrous and trashy >< and cheap

some kinds of it looks good but others just look ridiculous

The one sleeve look can be cool, depending on the dress. Kristin’s dress is a miss for me. I love asymmetrical clothes! They’re been around for a while so it’s not trendy but classic. I love them because you can show skin without being too much, you know?

I think we’re all interested in finding what’s up with her heels. Hehe. I think she should of left her hair down tho.

I love it mostly because my tattoo’s on my shoulder so I am always looking for one shoulder tops/dresses.

Trendy, trendy, always trendy. If done right, that is, asymmetrical gone wrong can be so bad, but otherwise, love it!

wheres the heel to her shoe? :/

I don’t really like asymmetrical cuts, but in general I am a very symmetrical loving person. I don’t mind asymmetrical prints though, those can be cute.

The cast of twilight aren’t allowed to tan (well the vamps and kristen).. my biggest problem here isn’t her dress but her heels, i can’t see the actual heel in this pic!!

I’m not going to say that I hate it, but don’t like it. I think of asymmetrical dresses as something Jane from Tarzan might wear after she started living in the jungle… it’s just an annoying look… if the imbalance is not very drastic it might look cute but i still would not wear it..

she looks grog and i love it.

this dress makes her look even more awkward than she already is! I do like it, but it looks awkward on her

Asymmetrical tops and dresses are really cool.
