As some of you may know, but many of you may not, I adore Audrey Hepburn.
I mean, look at her! She had an absolutely amazing look! And from what I have gathered she also seems to have had a great attitude and amazing personality. These were all things that I latched onto when on my first steps into womanhood. That is how Audrey Hepburn became my earliest female role model, and my namesake. When my friend and I were choosing a proper female name, I said, “I wish I could be Audrey Hepburn”, so my friend started calling me Audrey, and it stuck. The funny part is, I did not see any of her movies until quite recently, but for some reason I just connected with Audrey Hepburn.
Why?
1) Her style/look- I think her old school and often simple beauty is amazing, and something I can only hope to attain. Just merely attempting to emulate her makes me feel beautiful.
2) Her attitude and personality.
Let’s examine a few of her quotes to see what I mean:
- “Pick the day. Enjoy it – to the hilt. The day as it comes. People as they come… The past, I think, has helped me appreciate the present – and I don’t want to spoil any of it by fretting about the future.” – Couldn’t we all learn from an attitude like that! I so often get caught up in the future.
- “I never think of myself as an icon. What is in other people’s minds is not in my mind. I just do my thing.” – This one I can really identify with as far as my recent visit of xanga-celebrity status. Everyone seems to think I am this amazingly confident person, but I never really think that. I just try and be myself, and apparently what I do resonates with people. Be yourself people! And be confident in it!
- “I was born with an enormous need for affection, and a terrible need to give it.” - I also really identify with that one, I love hearing things and getting compliments from people, but I also love caring about and for people! I think it is an important attitude to cultivate.
- “For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others; for beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness; and for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone.”- that is a quote that many have read (seen it on quite a few facebook profiles), but I just love the insight in it!
All around I just think that Audrey Hepburn is a cool person, and a great actress too (now that I actually have seen some of her movies too- Love em!)
That is just a bit to explain why Audrey Hepburn is one of my role models, a name sake, and an all around cool person.
So, my wonderful readers, who are your role models? Are they celebrities (old or new)? Many of my friends I would also consider to be role models, are your friends your role models? Why(to all of the above)
PS- I have decided that I am going to go as Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s for Halloween this year. So any tips, or pointers towards cheap component of the costume would be helpful!

lovely choice
If I had to choose one she would definitely be it… I also feel like Zooey Deschanel also has somewhat of the same attitude, and I love her style and her talent

I also LOVE Audrey Hepburn, and I think Audrey is a beautiful name :].
I wouldn’t say any celebrities are my role models, per say, but there are quite a few I admire.
My role model is definitely my grandma. She’s a wonderful woman. I try to model everything I do in my life after her: my career, my parenting, etc.

That last quote was actually written by Sam Levenson…not Audrey Hepburn. He’s the same humorist that coined “Insanity is herditary- you get it from your kids.”

I admire Marilyn Monroe. She’s just…awesome. And gorgeous. I like her movies, too.

OMG! She’s my idol too. I love her gracefulness and how elegant she was and how she dressed and her humanitarian effort. Everything about her is perfect
Another lady I admired,even if I don’t think she’s a celebrity,is Jackie Kennedy
I went as Holly Golightly twice for Halloween and it’s a really easy(and cheap) costume. You find most of the items in second-hand stores.
Great post!!!!

Black dress from Target, Black gloves from anywhere, a crown from Claire’s, and a pair of black shoes from Payless and you should be in business for Halloween.
I don’t really have any rolemodels. Sad, I know.

I absolutely agree, I adore Audrey Hepburn to death. Such class, such poise, such grace, such kindness, such talent and such beauty! What can’t she do? Love her!

I’m quite certain that there are many of us gals ( and some gentlemen) in the world adoring Audrey Hepburn. I have a Princess Ann doll of her made by Pullip.
I learned that she’s pretty multilingual and cultured. Watching her interviews of Audrey speaking fluently in few other different languages is pretty awesome.
I usually just look up to good-natured, confident and happy people as role models.

Audrey has been one of my favorite actresses for a very long time. I think the first movie I saw her in was funny face when I was 11 or 12. She has such poise and elegance that I could only HOPE to obtain in a dressup day. She is so beautiful, had such a kind heart and was an amazing actress. She has been a role model for me for a long time, So much infact that I found a stray once outside my dads house and had to actually name it Cat(For those of you who dont get it, Breakfast at tiffanys). Lol. She was beautiful.

I, too, was named after Audrey Hepburn. I think she’s awesome =)

I like her indeed. I’m also indcredibly into Marilyn Monroe. She’s the celebrity I connected with in a way that sounds similar to you and Audrey Hepburn. More so, I felt an automatic love for Katharine Hepburn. I think that one comes from my grandmother who, to be honest, has always been my role model.

Audrey Hepburn was amazing. When reading a biography of her, I was particularly impressed by the parts of her life that people seemed to pay less attention to: Her early years (she had to live on tulip bulbs during the war) and the end of her life (her charity work). She was such a genuinely strong, sweet person.
