I love Sandra Bullock. She’s a very strong woman and I’m very proud of her for doing her thing. The baby boy is super adorable.

This is unrelated to Sandra, but why are people so obsessed with getting black babies lately?  I can see nearly no one adopting little chinese babies or other asian-looking children, nevermind anyone ever adopting an “indian” area baby. 

Don’t mistake this with racism, I’m simply wondering why the others are not of appeal.  The only chinese child I saw adopted was to Katherine Heigl.

I also think it’s great that she’s adopting a child from the U.S. and not going halfway around the world to some exotic country to adopt. There are plenty of kids who need loving parents here! Yay for Sandy

@Jessica - People do it because kids in other countries don’t have as many resources as orphans in America do. If they don’t have parents in third world countries they’re pretty much doomed for life. At least kids in America have a fighting chance. It makes sense to me =/ 

@stuipdthing@xanga  Adoption is terrific, regardless! But 12 million American children are at risk for going hungry, and 129,000 american children are currently awaiting adoption. If we don’t adopt our own country’s children, who will?

When I am ready to have a kid…I am not giving birth. I am adopting. Personally, I am adopted…from America and not from another country and am so gladd that my parents did adopt me. I also have an adopted brother from a different family than me. I am currently 21 and he is currently 18 and about to graduate from high school.

@haloed@xanga - In regards to your response, I totally understand what you are wondering. Personally, I think its a great thing to adopt any race but when I adopt my child (it won’t be anytime soon but when I do) the child will be from America.

I have a feeling that there are so many more steps to adopting a child from another country. And I bet it is def. more expensive to adopt from another country.

Anways, adoption is a great thing to do though and I hope more people start adopting. Its a great gift to any child to be adopted from a home that wasn’t a good living conditioned home.

Kudos to her! He lost a very good thing and I just don’t understand what could he be thinking? Cheating is bad, there’s no doubt about it. But and this is a rare but, if it was one time and he really really did make a mistake and is deeply sorry for it, they can try to work it out. I know many people feel once you cheat, you can’t go back and need to kick them to the curb. But more often than not couples do try to work it out especially if they’re married. If it was just dating, then it’s splitsville immediately.

@haloed@xanga - I was thinking about that too. China’s adoption is the most advance because they’ve been doing it for so long. I’m not sure if the prices has gone up because it’s quite popular to adopt in China a few years back. I also hope it’s not a fad to adopt black babies because Jolie-what’s her face and Madonna started doing it. Sure they’ll grow up in a luxuries life full of stuff they would never in a million years see had they not been adopted by powerful celebs but hopefully they won’t be forgotten or left alone without real actual love of a family when the celebs go around the world doing their celeb jobs…
I don’t remember which talk show I was watching but they did bring up a point about when was the last time Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise were out with they’re adopted kids? It’s always photos of them with their own legitimate kids now…

@Utoppia@datingish - yeah.. I hope it’s not just the new “cool” thing to adopt black/african/jamaican/etc. babies because celebs are doing it.  I think adopting on a personality basis is more important than colour…. :S

@haloed@xanga - Depends where you go, really. In my little suburb of Toronto, there’s a high percentage of Asian adoptions; I’ve seen entire families of adopted Asian kids to very, very white parents.

Also, I don’t think it should really matter what race is being more adopted, the bigger issue is getting children out of the adoption centers and given good homes no matter what.  It isn’t a popularity contest about what race the celebs are choosing, it needs to be based out on love and compassion.

WOW! I feel like she is filling that husband void and realizes that she will not have any babies with Jesse, so she is doing that. But… I hope she has thought it through! Adopting kids is a huge responsibility and is not like getting a dog.

Sometimes celebrities are adopting kids left and right… I hope they are making the right thing!

@haloed@xanga - My best friend was adopted from South Korea by her family here in the US, and both of her adoptive brothers are Asian as well, though I don’t recall from where. It probably just doesn’t stand out as much. Ever since hearing about how little girls are treated in China, I’ve been dead-set on adopting at least one

@haloed@xanga - The child is from New Orleans – did you read that part? Have you been there? There are a significantly larger number of African-American children there than there are white or any other race for that matter.

That statement Jesse James made is almost too perfect. It makes me want Sandra to forgive him and work out their problems. I wonder if someone helped James make that statement because it seems so perfect like a man truly broken over his sins who loves his wife and has hope for a future with her after he straightens himself out. I really hope it does work out. I think the baby deserves a mom AND a dad, but he’s better off with just a mom than being an orphan. But I hope they do get back together.

My friend and her husband adopted a baby girl a year ago 6 months before they had a baby of their own. (They were having problems getting pregnant so they resorted to adoption. They found out they were pregnant and then got news 6 months later that there was a newborn black baby girl that needed a home. So they adopted her.) It really wasn’t their choice whether they were going to get a black child or a white child, or a boy or a girl for that matter.

@haloed@xanga - I think Katherine Heigl adopted a Korean child because she has a sibling who was adopted from Korea. Angelina Jolie has two Asian children. Meg Ryan has an Asian child.

props to her for divorcing. the baby boy is cute too. I think it’s interesting that she’s adopting from the U.S. as well, instead of another country. I think as long as they’re both gracious about this process then anything can be worked out in the future if need be.

@haloed@xanga - hmm… i guess there are quite a few reasons for this but it all really boils down to a. personal preference & 2. media. As much as i hate to say it, a lot of stars will adopt whatever everyone else is adopting. Babies for stars are turning into adopting puppies; they want what everyone else has & it will most likely end up neglected.

But i like sandra bullock. She’s down to earth & i think she can give this baby a good home (i hope) .
