Here at Lovelyish, we’re always looking for new ways to embrace the Xanga community and really get everybody involved. Since we love reading all the comments just as much as you do, we thought it would be a fun idea to take a little sneak peak into the lives of some of our favorite readers!
Wouldn’t you like to know a little bit more about the person behind the avatar that’s bringing us such great advice and opinions? We know we would!
So what better way to cure those Monday blues than a little Q & A with Erika_Steele (above)!
Lovelyish: What’s your real name, age (only if you feel up for sharing), and where are you from?
Erika_Steele: My real name is my user name. I live in, am from, Alabama.
L: What do you do when you are not cruising through Lovelyish, reading posts and offering up advice?
ES: I am working on my PhD in science education, and busy taking care of my family. I enjoy being a mom a lot more than I thought I would. I enjoy writing short stories, and gardening. I wish I had more time to make jewelry and do photography.
L: What are your favorite types of posts to read on Lovelyish?
ES: I like the rate this look, and hot or not posts. I like discussing trends in fashion. I guess most of the things to do with clothes.
L: If you could change one thing about Lovelyish what would it be? And why?
ES: I really would love to discuss beauty from different parts of the world, just because it would be interesting. I would like to hear it from the perspective of the women that live under those standards, rather than what we would get from Elle magazine, or even Jessica Simpson’s new show. I would also love to see features from regular Xanga users that design their own clothes, jewelry, etc.
L: How would you describe your personal style?
ES: I can’t label my personal style the way I used to be able to in the past. In high school I went through a goth/grunge phase. As an undergraduate I dressed like Courtney Love, or very “indie.” Now I just wear pieces that I like, and flatter my body type. My wardrobe is a combination of classic pieces, trendy items (that won’t make me look like a desperate housewife or wannabe cougar), and vintage pieces from the 80s, 30s, and 40s.
L: If you could only have 5 beauty products in your possession what would they be?
ES: Dr. Brandt Lineless gel cleaner, Ojon leave in glossing cream, toothpaste, Stella by Tocca, Olive oil.
L: If you could have a dress custom made by any designer, who would it be? And what would your dress look like?
ES: It would be Chanel, and it would be the Chanel suit I’ve lusted for since I was 10.
L: What was your biggest fashion faux pas?
ES: I think my biggest faux pas was caring too much what people thought of my clothes, and changing my style in order to fit in better. Any other faux pas I’ve ever committed, like dark hose and light shoes, have been completely on purpose.
L: If your style (clothing, makeup, and hair!) had to be stuck in time, what decade would you choose?
ES: The 30s. I love that the style is very feminine.
L: What is your most prized article of clothing and makeup?
ES: I have this vintage dress from the 1930s. I adore this dress. I am so sad that I can’t fit in it anymore, because I went from a C cup to an F cup after getting pregnant.
L: What/Who is your guilty pop culture pleasure?
ES: Pink, Kelly Clarkson, and Girl rap groups from the 80s.
Thanks Erika (a.k.a. Erika_Steele) for indulging our curious minds! Happy Monday Lovelies!
