Candace Bushnell, the author of Sex and the City, the book that spawned the hit HBO TV show, is coming out with another book. The Carrie Diaries is a prequel to the series, focusing on Carrie Bradshaw’s life as a high school student.
Teen Vogue has an exclusive excerpt of the book here. Hmm, it seems like teen Carrie had a lot of boy drama. Who’da thunk it?!
You can buy The Carrie Diaries on April 27. And for fans of the movies, “Sex and the City 2″ comes out in May. Watch the trailer here.
So, Lovelies, will you check out this book? Were you a fan of Carrie Bradshaw?

Cute idea! I don’t think it’s up my alley, but very cool idea.

when sex & the city reruns began on tbs 6 years ago they had commercials with middle-school aged carrie, sam, miranda and charlotte in the library gossiping about boys…it was adorable and i always thought a tv show version of the gals as young’uns would had been totally awesome and fun! but i guess this is easier…

I’d rather kill my brain cells with a few beers or martini’s than to read that book or see that movie.

funny enough, the only reason why i actually watched the show was because i didn’t have anything else to watch one night and watched one of satc reruns instead. needless to say, i ended up being addicted. of course the show is confirming that each one of them sleep with everyone that they know and expect men to bow at their every needs or end up complaining about sexual disfunctions or strange relationships about that guy in a column or gossip but i still was glued. in the end, i had bought the movie and loved it as well. i will not be seeing the second movie in theaters but i will rent it when it comes out on dvd and i have not read any of the books dealing with satc (their original, etc..). i most likely will not read this book either. although i don’t think i’m really interested in knowing what carrie bradshaw was like in high school; i like them at the age they are. i guess you could say i would prefer them to be in their 20s so that i could relate a lot more but the age that they are now is perfect for the series. i’m begining to think that creating this book was only a gimmick to get the younger generation into sex and the city so that the movie goes over well; although if i had created the show, book, or movie, i’d want to milk it for all its worth as well.
