While watching the Academy Awards, with all the celebrity women and their long tresses, there was one woman who captured my attention. That woman was Carey Mulligan. She was so poised in her gown, but what I loved most was her cropped Pixie cut. She really stood out among the other lovely women because she had this sort of raw elegance about her.
Don’t be afraid to try something daring. Even if you have long locks you can’t seem to part with, try a mod heavy fringe. Or donate your long healthy hair to a charity such as Locks For Love, so that way you feel good about the tremendous change you are undertaking. Also, a short crop can feel so liberating, add a ton of style, and is usually easier to deal with at 5am when you’re getting ready for work.
Short hair has come a long way from the boyish masculine crops of the old days. With soft fringe and texture it can feel even more feminine than the long boring ponytail. And don’t think that a big forehead or round cheeks can keep you from clipping those tresses. Many women can wear a shorter cut, and usually look leaner, more vibrant, and very smart!
Would you consider chopping your hair into a pixie style cut? If not, would you consider making another major hairstyle change?

I love the pixie cut look but because my face isn’t defined enough, it’s not the haircut for me..
guest
I would totally look butch if I did that… but you did a really good job of trying to “sell it”. xD
guest
I think it only works on people with petite features. This cut wouldn’t flatter my rather large nose. :(

no, i like my hair long and i get super duper attached to it.
and i actually find my hair is much easier to work with when it is long, because it’s wavy. getting a haircut like this would give a fro.

I definitely want one for this summer.
guest
I cut my hair that short during my junior year of high school, I came out of the woodwork then. A short haircut is a big statement and it got me nominated for “best hair” my senior year.
guest
I’ve been wanting to try one for a while now, maybe this summer?
guest
When I was young people always told me they would die for my long red hair, so I cut it all off and gave it to locks of love. I habitualy harvest it.
At first I was worried how It would look when I went to a cut a bit shorter to a punkish pixie, a friend told me “any haircut suits a pretty face”.
Benifits of short hair on me, it elongates the neck leans the checks, my fluff at top makes my face less long makes me taller thus leaning me out, and the masculine angles bring out my girly features such as my lips and eyes.

short hair is so 2006

aaw i wish
i think my hair is too curly for that to work
guest
Not on me, but still pretty cute.

I had. Didn’t work.

I’ve done it, and after 3 years I finally got it to grow long again
never ever again would I do it.
guest
lovin’ mine. : )
guest
I already do. It’s been short since June of last year, so yeah.
guest
i’ve been wanting one, but i’m scared i can’t “work it”? so i’m probably not even going to try.
guest
I want one so badly but can’t it works best on petite girls where as I am 5’9 and a half… plus people with heart-shaped faces don’t really get away with it, we need volume near the chin to minimize the forehead.

never; at least not for me. i wish i could push myself to do this hairstyle because it would be so much easier to fix and to take care of but i just don’t like myself with short hair as it is; imagine with a pixie cut! as for a major hair style change, the only hair style change i’ve had was cut it to my shoulders and i hated it. other than that, my hair has always been the same. after those experiences, the only major change i will make is maybe try my hair with layers all over this summer but then again, i’m afraid it will turn out like a mullet like 99% of the people i know have. i’m very sensitive when it comes to my hair.

I had a pixie cut for a couple of years and loved it.

I just cut all of my hair off in order to sport the bob. So I feel like, if I really wanted to, I could sport the pixie.
It is adorable, after all.

omg…..the first girl at the top looks so amazing in that cut, WOW
guest
Probably not, unless I wanted a really drastic change. I’ve been growing my hair for quite a few years and it covers my entire back now – and some of the arse too. I’m pretty attached to it.
guest
The cut looks fantastic on people who can pull it off, but sadly, I am not one of those people, so no.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE pixie cuts… but my hair would be awful. It’s too curly. A pixie cut would simply equal frizzball for me… unless I straightened it EVERY day. That wouldn’t be good.
My senior year of high school, I went from long hair (which was almost always pulled back or straightened) to sporting a super short curly-do. I’ve never regretted that decision, I love my hair short.
Recently I decided to mix it up a little and went for an angled bob. My hair was buzzed partially in the back and left fairly long in the front. It’s grown out quite a bit now and it still looks cute. Love it. Short hair is definitely my favorite.

my hair, grrr. I hated my hair, yes HATED, when I was growing up. and every time I cut my hair even just, i shouldn’t say just I’m an unfortunate whose hair takes a millenia to grow, inches, I’d almost cry in the shower the next day cause I wanted to pull the idiot out of my head who told me to cut my hair and brutally beat her. (i don’t care if it looked good) yet now I love it. natural red which is not good for growing up in a sunny land of skin burning popularity wise. And donating it would not make me happy, cause, as I said my hair dislikes growing. I do wake up at 5 am, but it’s cause I have found the perfect style for me, which requires only a flat iron, and no product, ha. =P
besides, I don’t even like to wear my hair up most of the time not to mention there wouldn’t be that opertunity to let it down.
guest
I had a pixie cut for 10 years and my major style change is finally having the patience to grow it out. My hair is now past my shoulders and I’m going to let it keep growing.

I might one day, I like the idea of low maintanence. But I’d get too scared.
guest
Yup, have had one since last August. I LOVE it. I’ve tried to grow it out a few times, but I hit the awkward stage and chop it all off again.
It’s super easy to take care of, and I’ve had fun coloring it a few times, since I know I won’t have to worry much about the roots, since it will all be grown out and cut off again in a few months.
Love the picture of Carey Mulligan. Another celebrity that looks amazing with a pixie cut is Ginnifer Goodwin. Her face is round, proof that it suits even a round face, provided that it’s cut properly. So cute!

Well, I have two things working against me – curly frizzy hair and a rather “full” face. Meaning this would just make me look fat and it just wouldn’t work anyhow, not without a hair straightening device of some sort. But I really admire the girls who do wear their hair like this. And I have pulled off a modified version, but for curly hair before (when I was in my teens still). I personally prefer longer hair, though. I feel like I can do more things with my hair now.

It’s actually called a “Bob” but yes, I’ve had it before and I felt awesome either way

i’m rockin one right now

SHORT HAIR IS FOR BOYS AND MEN!

I love the look but I am trying something different now, actually trying to let my hair grow for once.

I think pixie cuts look good
only if you have certain face structures/features…
the only way I will be able to pull it off is probably if I wore more makeup (ie. mascara, lip gloss, and blush) to make myself look more girly,
otherwise I would just end up looking like a guy.
guest
i wait for my hair to grow really long then cut it short. so maybe..
guest
I had one for awhile, it was super cute. =]
guest
i love it on some girls. if i could make it look good, i’d definitely get a pixie cut. but i can’t, so i won’t even try.
guest
I have sported a pixie cut, and absolutely adored it! Short hair is so much easier to deal with. I’m going to sport it again as soon as I can, ha.
guest
It’s not for me but to each their own
.

especially not me.

I would honesty love to shave my head, a la Natalie Portman in V For Vendetta, it would be so much easier, but I would never.
I would look like a boy.

Heck no, short hair is not for me.
guest
i dont have the face for it :[

I have a Rihanna haircut like the super short one
guest
yeah, I did:

And then I grew it out. It was fun. I have no idea why women have such a love affair with their hair. If you cut it off, it grows back.
guest
I like Sienna Miller’s cut, but not Shia LeBouf’s girl’s hair..
I would try it when Im like 30+. Until then, I want to maintain my long locks!
guest
nope. it would look terrible on me.
guest
I’ve been considering one of these… I like to have my hair about shoulder-length, though, and I would miss being able to style it.

I have exceptionally curly hair and I chopped my hair into a pixie cut and straightened it everyday. Personally, I liked it better that way… it was pretty easy to clean and manage. But, I needed a change and so let it grow out.
guest
I would.
guest
I personally wouldnt get a pixie. They’re hard to pull off, and i wouldnt be able to be one who can :/
guest
maybe.
guest
I think you have to be very pretty to pull it off, because otherwise you will just look unfeminine. I’m not sure if I could =/
guest
Yeah, this doesn’t work for us curly-haired individuals. Unless you think looking like orphan Annie is hot. :/
guest
I actually loved having short hair, but I’m just been lazy to schedule for appointment.
I think the pixie suited Miss Mulligan very well. She has quite a lovely feminine face.
guest
Yeah well its like this…I tried a pixie cut when my son was an infant, because I thought it would be “low maintenance.” What nobody realized was that once all the weight was gone from my hair (it was butt-long) it would spring up with all kinds of body and wave and that my cute little “Demi Moore from Ghost” pixie would end up looking like a hideous hair helmet. I had to fight with it every day to keep it from looking like a small animal was living on top of my head.
So in my instance my answer is “I would, but I can’t.” Pixie cuts are one instance where having fine, straight, thin hair is a good thing.
guest
Hmm, only if I was super skinny. It looks weird on thicker people.
guest
Love ittt(:
guest
Not a pixie cut, but a short hair cut yes.
daffodil / 1622 posts
wish i could pull it off
guest
I would if it was for a good cause but I jus did a drastic change and I love it.
guest
I actually love having short hair. I haven’t tried a pixie cut before though… I’m tempted to try this summer, but this girl in several of my classes recently got one and I don’t want it to seem like I’m copying her. But maybe sometime in the future! (I do harbor a slight fear of being mistaken for a guy, though I know that’s silly =/)
guest
I would love to but it wouldn’t go with the shape of my face.
