Occasionally I do read over some of the posts on Lovelyish, Mancouch, sometimes even Ireallylikefood (that one always gets me when I’m hungry). One thing I see a lot on Lovelyish are posts about who’s pretty, who’s not. Who’s skanky, who’s classy. And all that stuff. You know?
Perhaps I’m opening myself to controversy, but…I don’t particularly think anyone is ugly, skanky, fat, skinny, or whatever.
I think sometimes people forget to just watch people. Maybe, even as they just walk down the street, and I don’t mean just a casual glance.
No one is perfect, that’s true. And it really is the imperfections that make us amazing. I see each person as abstract, a work of priceless art. No one trait that a certain person may have will carry over to another. It’s this fact that makes each person so precious and flawlessly beautiful.
I think that, sometimes, everyone just overlooks each other, but that’s just my personal view. My one quirky trait is my view on things. And no one else thinks the same way as I do. But that’s the beauty of it. Let me ask you this, lovelies:
Say you wanted something, whatever it may be: Fame, youth, fortune. Say you had it all, and you were the most amazing thing on earth. Would that necessarily make you happy? I’d imagine fame would be very stressful, and lonely. I’d imagine being forever young would come at a terrible price…while you stayed young, all your loved ones would die. Fortune, that could be even worse than the previous two. When people have money and power, often times they become arrogant, isolated…cold.
So, next time you walk down the street, or even just glance through a magazine at a celebrity or a model. Remember this: You are flawed. Your flaws make you breathlessly beautiful, you are a precious person that makes up our world.

What about the people who are ugly on the inside?
I think it shows through.
Imagine someone who abuses animals, children, drugs..I see someone really hideous.

Lovely post, thank you.
guest
whenever i hear someone say someone is ugly i think of all the people that think they are ugly
guest
@TheRealMelanie@xanga - agreed. When it comes to people like that … nothing but hideousness “shines through”. If anyone sees beauty in that, it’s kinda sick!
ranunculus / 3457 posts
I disagree. There is ugly, there is fat, there are whores, and there are flat out evil people out there. It’s very utopia-like of you to view this magical world in which we are all beautiful and good people. I don’t think this will ever be a reality as humans are competitive and we will find flaws where there aren’t any.
What I do think is happening is the association of certain words to other words. For example, “fat” seems to immediately mean “ugly”, and “hot” seems to mean “skank”. Which is stupid considering a fat person can be pretty or beautiful and some girls are hot without being whores.
Here’s how I view it. Opinions are like assholes. We all have one. So, as long as you feel good about yourself, what everyone else thinks doesn’t matter.
guest
I could really care less about posts like that. They are super annoying, plus, who cares who wears what, what colour nail polish they wore, etc. Stupid.
guest
So true. What I really care about is personality and good hygiene.
guest
I love this post. very nice.

AGREED 100%. Thank you for this post.

I’d love to be an immortal super hero that everyone worships because I annihilate all the uglies

That is so true. And I thought to myself once that I didn’t think I’d ever seen a truly ugly person. So why did I think I was one? It was a revelation for me.
guest
I think that ugliness, like beauty, begins on the inside. I’ve met many outwardly beautiful people who are ugly to the core, and vice versa.
guest
I give a thumb up for this post. In my opinion, if you compare yourself with anyone, you are insulting yourself.

There are ugly people, with their personalities & looks in some fashion.
The way you view someone really depends on their looks if you’re just looking at their physical facial features and such. Like, I think Zachary Quinto is worthy of god-ly-ness; where as my friend would rather vomit than look at his face. To me, she thinks he’s ugly. Some people may think that only shallow people can see through flaws and make beauty out of them. Which isn’t true. I may have gotten off topic… Though I couldn’t quite help myself. Sorry (:
guest
I agree! I read in one book that a character always had something good to say about other people, regardless of how the world viewed them. That inspired me (:

am i missing something? was this post in any way cohesive? was there a solid point?
not seeing it.
guest
I think there are beautiful aspects to almost every person in this world – the only truly ugly people are the people who are ugly on the inside.
guest
No there is.

Nice personal opinion.

I’d like to agree with this, but I can’t.
I do believe there are ugly people, I do believe there are “easy” girls, etc.
It is a very different matter that even though they walk next to us, we should not criticize them.
But, bottom line, they do exist.
@a_single_raindrop@xanga - that sounds to me like Stargirl, please let me know if it is!! I’ll probably dream about that haha
guest
a lot of time beauty is overlooked if it isn’t the kind of magazine-cover beauty. to that extent, i see your point.
but i have to say i disagree with the claim that there exists no physical ugliness. perception only exists as a function of relativity. in order for something to be perceived as “beautiful” we must have something against which to compare its beauty. thus we necessarily have “less beautiful,” and on the other end of that spectrum, “ugly.”

@MoonFaeEyryan@xanga My parents raised me by the “opinions are like assholes” theory . . . right on. And no matter how I wish things were different, I believe you are right.
guest
No one is ugly . Whether being beautiful depends how he/she thinks.Right ?
A beauty is not only with charming appearance , but also with her conscience .
guest
I agree with this, at least for the most part.
Admittedly, there are many degrees of beauty – some people are more attractive than others, and we can’t deny that.
But I find it extremely difficult to call someone “ugly.” Everyone has something beautiful about them, and like you said, the fact that everyone is unique gives them beauty. I don’t consider anyone to be ugly, and I always press people to reconsider when they say it.
So thanks for writing this.

Short and to the point, thank you. (:
I don’t know if anyone mentioned this before, but my english teacher and I were having a discussion about how babies are taught from an early age what pretty is, and also simple shapes register in a baby’s mind as “acceptable” – A rounded nose is much “prettier” to a baby than a long, pointed one, do you see where I’m getting at? I feel like I’m butchering the way she said it, so I’ll stop, but hopefully it makes sense in someone’s head.

@MoonFaeEyryan@xanga - Agreed. Let’s not be delusional.

I think everyone has their own beautiful part
Not only in their appearance
but also in their heart.
orchid / 103 posts
I agree with there being no such thing as “ugly”. To me there’s only normal (those whom I don’t have any attraction to) and then beautiful or hot (those who I find really attractive and would want to …..;P) haha, the human mind is very simple that way. Chemical reactions, or nothing. ^_^

I love you. Please write more things for Lovelyish because I am getting sick of the same ol’ shit. It’d be refreshing to have someone with a brain write posts for a change. <3

@MoonFaeEyryan@xanga - I am plagiarizing your comment because I don’t feel like saying what you said myself.
There are people who are in no way shape or form attractive. There are people that are ugly on the inside and the outside. There are people with no redeeming qualities at all. It is a part of life.
guest
@TheRealMelanie@xanga - I agree.
guest
I agree that we shouldn’t judge a person on their flaws, just like we would not wished to be judged on ours.
But the idea that traits like “ugly, skanky, fat, skinny” don’t exist or don’t have an impact on is is ridiculous. I understand what you’re trying to say it’s just that, in my opinion, you haven’t made it clear how it’s possible not to notice someone who weighs roughly the same as a small African elephant, or wears a leopard-print thong pulled up so high it might just catch on one of those faux gold earrings, or looks like a pipe-cleaner with eyes wearing skinny jeans.
You’ve said we shouldn’t take not of these things or judge by them, but you have judged ABSOLUTELY EVERYONE for doing this when it’s so naturally human and you can’t honestly say you don’t do it as well.
guest
I agree, but I think people can be ugly if their person is ugly(outer appearances aside)
hydrangea / 84 posts
ugly is as ugly does.
guest
I agree with this 100%. Fuckin nice.
guest
I only say people are ugly to feel better about myself, since, I’m the only person I truly think is ugly.
guest
The people that say this tend to be hypocrites, because everyone finds certain people more attractive than others. There are lots of good people out there. That doesn’t mean they are nice to look at. I hate it when people confuse the two.
guest
Original Poster … i think i’m in love with you. (well your ideals, really). mad props.
guest
@Orlando@xanga - right on!!
guest
I think I agree and I disagree, There are people who are ugly and there are people who are beautiful. But I don’t think I can believe that it is so black and white. Everyone has good and bad things about them physically or psychologically, there’s no way to be completely ugly or beautiful. A person may be mean and nasty on the inside sometimes but it doesn’t mean that everything they feel or do, is ugly and bad, there’s most likely some part of them that is good. We can’t look at everything just black and white. The negative spaces inbetween is where we should look. I accept everyone for who they are, even if they don’t like me or someone else on the inside or out. It’s the grey spaces.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder :]

I say the same thing too. No one is ugly; they are just not our type. One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.
guest
I’d like to agree with you, but I don’t.

i disagree
i think ugly exists

Eh. This post was all over the place >.<
But I don’t there is such thing as ugly. It’s either, “I’m attracted to that person” or “I’m not.”

I like to think that everyone.. even pople with ugly personalities.. have at least one redeeming quality in them

@TheRealMelanie@xanga - Please google Ted Bundy. A good looking serial killer who lured his victims to him by charming them and making them go into his van. He proves that your deeds/behavior do not corrolate with your appearance.
guest
Such a lovely post! I’ll be looking at the world a lot differently now, thank you for your fantastic opinion on this subject, i completely agree
hydrangea / 57 posts
@Too lazy - First, “good looking” is an opinion. I wouldn’t have gone for him. But that’s beside the point. Once you’re made aware of Ted Bundy’s actions- is he still attractive?
My comment was suggesting that actions can make someone unattractive, or ugly. Therefore, ugly exists.
guest
Thats sweet..
I agree and disagree with this. I think that fat and ugly do exists, and people just have to come to terms with what they are inorder to embrace there beauty.

@e_xoxo@xanga - You’re over thinking it, but perhaps it’s my view. My view is based on people as a whole, and as seperate. For example, the world is based all on balance. Every breath you inhale, someone has died. Every drink of water you take, another person is thirsty.
So, I thought to myself, what is living, if there is no death? What is thirst, if there was no hydration? It’s the intricate details that people seldom stop to think about. As @mz_d0rkabl3@xanga -
You’re both unique.
commented on an ugly personality, wether it may be vainty, selfishness, or even a general coldness.
What would humbleness, selflessness, or warmth be? Each person balances out the other. We are all perfected because of our flaws. Both of you ladies, affect people all over the world every day.
