Finally models that actually have a figure during the London Fashion Week women that have a figure, notably Hayley Morley who is a size 14. The designer Mark Fast, is using her as a template for fashion.
“It is important for me to continue using curvier models because there needs to be an understanding that my clothes are for all body shapes. There are real women out there that want to be able to escape into the fantasy of fashion just like everyone else regardless of their size.” Mark Fast said.
I think its great there is a designer out there allowing models to actually have a size!
Your thoughts though on plus size models? Do you like them on the runway at Fashion Week?

Awesome. I don’t like what she’s wearing though. D:

i’m sure the other pictures look fine but this one just isn’t doing it for me,

I like the fact that there are curvier models out there but it is a bummer that curvier models tend to have fashion outfits that are less appealing than the skinny models, but she looks good and does not look like a size 14. but congrats to this designer
dahlia / 2382 posts
@Meowmeowkimmaee@xanga - I agree, it’s not a flattering outfit but she’s a pretty model.
guest
Okay, I love how she’s suppose to be representing the “curvy” model but is dressed in something hideous, not coutoure at all AND her hair/make-up (lack there of) is a mess. It’s like they purposely do that shit.

@Meowmeowkimmaee@xanga - i don’t like it either, her cleavage looks saggy. D:
but it sounds like he’s got a good marketing strategy.

I applaud him for using larger models, but the items he designed for these women aren’t flattering. They show everything because they’re too clingy.
rose / 917 posts
nice good idea long long over due
guest
Her body is OK, but the outfit is kind of bland and awkward.
guest
Curvier models, cool. This girl looks trashy though, gah.
guest
I still don’t get why designers seem to think that larger women only a) want to be dressed in dark colors and b) want to be dressed in horrendous outfits. That said, I’m all for curvy models as long as they’re shown the same care as their thinner counterparts.
guest
Is this real?
hydrangea / 93 posts
@AnonymousBlonde@xanga - Although b is so true and ridiculous, dark colors are supposed to slim you down. That’s why a lot of plus sizes are dark, because naturally, most women want to look slimmer than they actually are. It makes sense.
I’ve always liked the idea of models of various sizes on the catwalk. That’s how it should be — not every woman is the same size, and they SHOULDN’T be.
I’d also agree that the picture of this particular model looks awful, but have you SEEN some of the outrageous (and unflattering!) outfits they put on the skinny ones?! Seriously, I’ve seen a lot of models that look like Lady Gaga… on a bad day.
guest
How come there is so much fuss over size 14 models?
Are there no size 6 models?
(confused)
guest
@Hermeown@xanga - Clothes that fit well can be just as slimming, if not more so, than dark colors alone, so theoretically all they really need to do is pay more attention to how they design rather than concentrate on a somber palette.
guest
i don’t like the outfit but i like her photos that i’ve seen online. i think it’s great that someone is using a real size woman. i wish more designers would do this!
guest
I don’t like the outfit, but it’s great to see a designer actually using a woman who isn’t shaped like a twig.
guest
Good for them
They should use more plus sized models and women with more shape – it’s 2010! Super skinny models isn’t the only thing that is attractive.(Never really was to me.)
guest
I think plus sized models are fantastic, however they need to be considered when the designer is making clothes. I have seen models at certain fashion shows (not this one- I think the clothes fit her beautifully and she looks absolutely GORGEOUS) that just look like sloppy, wobbly messes. And because REAL bodies DO tend to jiggle, putting real women into tight clothes and then sending them down a greased runway just makes them look like stuffed sausages.
But I am glad people are starting to use real bodies to showcase their clothing lines and I wish more designers had Mark Fast’s attitude!
guest
usually bigger boobs look saggy without a supportive bra and runway models usually don’t wear bras underneath the clothing to make her cleavage look more appealing unless it was part of the original design, and if she were to wear a bra, her cleavage would distract from the artistic perspective of the clothes themselves. so that is why I think curvy models with more curves especially in the top area aren’t used in the fashion industry as common as thin models who might look too thin and usually don’t have big boobs, but they are simply mannequin models to showcase the clothing similar to how fake mannequins on display at clothing stores are usually thin and tall. I’m not against curvy models but they still aren’t the average looking person. if they wanted to promote women of all body types, it includes the bodily imperfections such as unsightly stomach rolls, cellulite, and such, but they are trying to sell clothing and appeal to the target audience that favors being thin, so popularity and profit is what their marketing will aim towards.
guest
this is probably one of the better pictures on the show, all the other plus sized models looked like Violet Beauregarde, from Willy Wonka, they’re slowing popping out of their outfits and becoming blueberries.
guest
It’s a great idea as long as they put them in the right clothes.
orchid / 141 posts
And she’s an actual curvy woman too, not an obese woman trying to use a cop out!
hydrangea / 93 posts
@AnonymousBlonde@xanga - Ahh. Very true.
guest
I am so sick of hearing the term “real women.” Every woman is a real woman. Size 00 to size 20. We’re all women. For goodness sakes. It is absolutely wonderful to have a size 14 woman modeling, but that doesn’t mean the size 2 women aren’t “real women.”
guest
she looks ok, but i like thinner models. 00 is still a size, by the way.
guest
Here’s a solution:
design clothes for people. don’t design clothes for models. that means designing clothes for girls who are size zero and size twelve and maybe even size 25. There is no such thing as a “plus sized model” she’s a model who is bigger than the average conception. Deal with it. I think she is beautiful.
guest
Runway models… Are so unnattractive when they’re on the runway. It’s cool that she’s curvy and all, but her boobs are sagging. And I was kinda happy they had curveless ones. I have tiny boobs, and I feel like I won’t look good in anything ever. But runway models are wearing the leading designer’s clothes, and it’s inspiring, to me at least. And she is soo not a US 14 hahah that’s huge.
guest
@EverlastingEscape@xanga - You and I are so on the same page. I’m real, and I have to wear a size 0 and xs.
guest
she doesn’t even look like a size 14
but yay for curves!
guest
there have always been plus size models. and they’ve done runway shows. the thing is they arent just called models, they are plus size. still a different category if people understand what I’m trying to say…. basically I wouldn’t be getting all excited about this. and personally they would probably do better to find women somewhere between a 00 and a 14 to be models. I actually think that woman in the picture looks horrible, and that style is totally wrong for her body… but thats just me.
guest
awesome idea, sucky outfit.
guest
She’s dressed that way because dark colors are slimming.
daffodil / 1622 posts
dont like the outfit :S
guest
I really like this! Took the fashion world long enough…
Also, I don’t agree with the term “plus size.” Models are expected to be like, a size zero or below, which means “plus size” really should mean “anything ABOVE zero.” It’s all backwards.
guest
a skin tight outfit that shows off her curves.
sunflower / 391 posts
The designer wasn’t saying smaller girls aren’t real. Wow.
I hate how you can see the lines of the shapers underneath her clothing. What’s the point if you’re just going to squeeze the poor girl down?
@AudreyElizabethh@xanga - Size 14s not that big. You say “huge” like it’s a size 24. I’ve seen girls that wear a size 13 that look like they could be at least an 8. Looks can be deceiving.
guest
I like that they’re using curvier models.
guest
I like how you called her a plus sized model, when 14 isn’t a ‘plus-size’
It is nice to see models with something more than a thin layer of skin on their bones though
guest
Great…too bad she looks awful in that outfit.
Side note, who says that skinny models don’t have a size? I’m fairly certain everyone counts…
I have love for all shapes of women…everyone is beautiful in their own way.
guest
Eh, they should’ve chosen a more flattering outfit for her, one that perhaps holds her curves?
guest
@AudreyElizabethh@xanga - Agreed! (:
guest
im glad she is at least a “curvy” woman too instead of another fat woman trying to claim that she is only curvy.
although yeah the outfit doesnt look very flattering on her in the pic. she still looks like a pretty model
guest
It’s great that there was a model with curves, but that outfit looks horrible on her. I think it makes her look bigger than she really is, and very sloppy– if you’ve got boobs such as her, a bra is a requirement.
guest
“I think its great there is a designer out there allowing models to
actually have a size!”
Size 0 isn’t a size? Come on, now. I may be tiny and skinny, but I’m just as “real” as a woman with more “curves.” Oh, wait, I do have curves, as does any human female.
I don’t care what size the models are, my eyes are checking out the clothes.
I may come off as kind of an ass, but I really do get what you’re trying to say, it’s nice that they get to be human mannequins as well, but I’m fed up with all this “real women” and “curvy” nonsense. Real women… have a vagina. *gasp*
guest
@AudreyElizabethh@xanga - Hahaha… No, we are the opposite of real. We don’t even exist!
sunflower / 331 posts
High fashion is for everyone.
guest
@EverlastingEscape@xanga - Agreed.
This bs is getting tiring. Honestly, I feel like designers featuring plus-sized women is just a placebo to placate the masses and get them to shut up for a second. Really. We all know fashion is about selling fantasy, not reality so who cares if they use models that very few people are actually the size of?
guest
mark fast is awesome, he knows whats up
guest
no stick girls!
guest
i think all types of body-types should be walking down the run-ways– so the fact that curvier models are being used is fabulous!
guest
*sigh* It’s cool that there are plus sized models and all, but I am truly tired of this curvy=plus size and thin girls aren’t a real size crap. We all come in different sizes, let’s not knock either end of the spectrum.
guest
it doesn’t look great on her :\
guest
mate why u so insercure man ¬¬
guest
@Coffee_Kaioken@xanga - I couldn’t agree more. I hate how sometimes magazines have articles like “Thin is out! Curvy women are REAL!” and all I see is some fat woman eating a chocolate bar. (Well she isn’t but just trying to prove a point.)
guest
more plus size. i don’t know how people got it into their heads that being a stick was something attractive.
guest
i saw some pretty nasty pictures of the models.
although they were pretty, the clothes were wayyy too tight and unflattering. i think they should have worn better fitted clothes for their body type. and although she is a size 14, you have to remember that 14 isnt a “curvy healthy” girl still because most girls who are size 14′s are NOT 5’11 either. so a size 14 model who is 5’11 is probably equivalent to a girl whos 5’6 and a size 7 or 8.
guest
I don’t like what she’s wearing, but I’m glad she’s not the size of my pinkie finger. :]
guest
@Meowmeowkimmaee@xanga - Agreed. You can still put hot, trendy clothes on that beautiful body!
guest
eww
guest
okay, it’s great that plus-sized models are getting some good and well-deserved attention in the modeling world, but when are petite models going to get some of the limelight?
guest
Now all they need to do is let people model who are average height
haha
guest
Love the concept, but not wild about the outfit. I will be interested to see what this designer does as time goes on, because I think he’s onto something here.
guest
Looks like a hot mess. :/ Not representing the curvier chicks very well…
guest
Honestly, I don’t care.
guest
I’m all for big girls looking good but my fight is to get shorter girls on the runway. Hahaha…

hayley morely is gorgeous. if you’ve seen her other pictures (not in that outfit) she doesn’t even seem plus sized. at all.
go mark fast!

Love Love LOVE! this!! It’s long overdue. She’s got a great real-woman figure. I agree with most of you on the outfit… and her rack is um…really unsupported. Designers need to start making shirts and esp nice dresses with extra room for us larger chested women. When will they learn? Hopefully in my lifetime.
guest
i think its a marketing strategy for him. which is awful. doing it for publicity. anyway i suppose its a start.
but his clothes dont look good on bigger shapes. hes a designer?? well clothes are meant to make womens figures look better. she does not look good and it is because that dress does not suit her shape.
and the hair and makeup??? OMG WTF WERE THEY DOING.
guest
I think it’s a huge step for fashion! However, the picture you used is kind of disappointing- she looks sloppy. Either way, I’m happy about this change.

love the model hate the outfit.

But did he really have to put her up there makeup-less?!

That’s a bad picture….because she looks sloppy.

Models exist to make you buy stuff. Period. I don’t give a rat’s tiny ass about what size the model is at fashion week. Jesus. People need to calm the fuck down about trying to get big girls on stage in order to soothe the ego of every woman over size 8. I’m a size 10, and you don’t see me bitching and moaning about how all the 00 models are ruining my self-image. All I care about is going into a store and buying clothes. As far as I’m concerned a model may as well be a living clothes hanger to show me what’s in season.
dahlia / 2747 posts
she looks like she rolled out of bed after falling asleep wasted.

There is nothing as sexy as curves. When I look at models of a mag like KING, I wish I could reborn as a curvaceous beauty.
guest
she looks gross, sorry
guest
@XoAsianBabioX@xanga - lol my point exactly
sunflower / 290 posts
bad outfit, gorgeous model. i love seeing models who are a more common size because to me, the whole idea of a model is that they MODEL the clothes. as in ‘this is what this would look like on you’ the significant majority of people do not have stick figure body types so the majority of people have no idea if those are clothes that they would look good in
guest
I love the fact that bigger models are on the runway…but that look is really sloppy. Those are ill fitting on her.
daisy / 613 posts
Why is it always a size 0 or a size 14?
Do women who are the sizes in between not exist?
I’m not skinny enough to be a regular model, but I’m definitely not a size 12 either. Sucks.
guest
looking gorgeous!
guest
When I look at this girl, the last thing that comes to mind is plus-sized.
guest
I think that could be more flattering but I think he’s got the right idea…. like, less washed out face/makeup, right now we’re all looking at her cleavage thats it
guest
i think she looks amazing.
guest
support support support! finally, real models. real women.
guest
she’s still got the collarbone. love it.
i wonder what size she is? i hope someone’s out there repping the size 8-10 girls. not just the 14 + or the 4 or less.
guest
BUT I love that curves are stepping up!
guest
She doesn’t look good.
Well, not HER herself but the clothes. :S
Bad choice of picture in my opinion.

guest
I love how she’s “plus sized” but her collar bone is still sticking out.
If that’s plus sized then I must be a whale, hah.
Women that are that tall should be wearing like a size 10 or 14 or something. Now if you’re 5′ tall you shouldn’t be wearing a size 14.
guest
@MadMarch@xanga - true dat.
guest
I think including women who have curves is great. but it the clothes she is wearing are not very flattering. put the same model in something that actually flatters her and fix her hair and she would be doing curvy women justice.
guest
All I think when I see plus sized models on the runway is, “Those clothes would look so much better on a regular model.”
I’m sorry, but that’s my opinion. Skinny people look better in this high fashion stuff. Models are thin. It’s been that way for a long time. Maybe things are changing to make “curvy” (Read, for Americans: Fat) women feel better. The majority of women are not curvy and pretty, but overweight and average. Regular models are thin and pretty. Maybe bone thin, but I digress. Is it really so bad to have a motivation to not be overweight?
Disregard eating disordered individuals, because they have warped self-image anyways. I have an eating disorder, and looking at a skinny model DIDN’T make me starve. I MYSELF made it happen.
I’m an American, so I know how overweight we all are. If we become so comfortable in our overweight state, then there could be trouble ahead.
daisy / 556 posts
I think its a great thing for plus size models to share the runway with “traditional” models.
guest
healthier looking models…im all for it! they look beautiful.

Why is there only one picture? What are we saying?
