Take a walk in Asia, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea… you name it, let me assure you, you will find more than five out of ten girls have bangs. This is definitely the most annoying fashion trend I have ever seen! Everywhere I go, all I see is bangs, fringes, bangs, fringes… arghhh, it is basically screaming at me, and I can no longer put up with it!
Well, for the start, the only age group I exclude in this article is children. For the others, especially teenagers and people in the twenties, yes, it is you, listen up!
It is so annoying for me to see a swarm of identical people everywhere I go. I don’t know what is up with you Asians (okay, I am one too but I just don’t get it); bangs and fringes are totally overrated.
Yes, fringes are cute, but that is ONLY for a certain number of people with the suitable face shapes and features. You won’t look like cute if your face does not match with the bangs. In fact, (sorry to sound mean), you look more like a dumb ass who try too hard to be cute, but (oops) failed!
What is more, fringes are no longer really THATcute since almost more than half of the Asian girls are getting them. What I see is just a bunch of people who are looking almost identical, and made out from a factory.
Is cuteness overrated in Asia? I would find it rather offensive if I am still being called as cute when I am in my twenties. Call me weird, but I would really prefer to be called as B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L! Being beautiful is totally different from being cute. From my view, being beautiful is you have extraordinarily stunning attractive natural features, but being cute is just innocent average look but definitely not outstanding.
I don’t mean to be offensive, but I just need to raise my voice on my view. The whole fringe thing has annoyed me for a long time, I thought it would be over soon, but well, it didn’t. So, what i am really suggesting is, take a good look of yourself in the mirror, decide whether you are really the fringe type.
Look, these are the BAD examples of bangs.

i thought the side sweep bangs would be the most annoying asian trend ever. at least, that’s how it is here in texas. guess i’m wrong?
guest
……….bangism.
I find it hilarious that you get this riled up about a hairstyle. Dont go turning into a sour patch kid and cut peoples hair off!
guest
oh btw, i find it so annoying when girls hate it when someone COMPLIMENTS them on being “cute”. maybe cause the term is played out all the time, but it’s like god, just take the compliment. maybe they’re not calling you hot/pretty/gorgeous/beautiful, cause ya not.

I think bangs are perfect for some people. It doesn’t mean it looks nice on everyone. There’s plenty of options with or without bangs; bangs are super versatile. There are other countries that have lots of people with bangs.. -_-
So no.. I don’t hate bangs.
sunflower / 295 posts
huh!? i love bangs
sunflower / 366 posts
LOL. you just basically dissed me. because i have bangs, but that’s okay… i don’t really care…cause ironically today someone mistakened me for another asian girl (side view wise)…and i guess it’s true…but then again…HOW different can you be? geezes…people basically assume all asians look similar anyway. and are mistakened for one another…so in all ways possible…it’s going to happen one way or another. and for my defense, i was thinking of growing my side bangs again, but that’s overused to.then again what hairstyle isn’t overused?
sunflower / 321 posts
I do not hate bangs. I have bangs (granted, I’m not asian, either) I have bangs because I have a fairly large forehead and the bangs make it look smaller.
Honestly, I don’t mind seeing a lot of asians with bangs because the looks works very well on their faces. Although, I have to say, if your bangs are horribly blunt cut (with no texture whatsoever) and very thick, I might feel the need to take my scissors to your hair.
guest
layered bangs are cute. puffy bangs like in those bad example pics are ugly. it depends on the person. I think dita von teese looks good with bangs because she has the overall look to make it work. I think people with a high forehead aren’t ideal for bangs. high foreheads don’t look good without bangs either
tulip / 9 posts
well then don’t look at em’, sillay. or just don’t go to asia :]
guest
Well actually i don’t think asians have bangs because it’s a fashionable thing, i m asian and i think asians have bangs because we are raised having bangs and it is a perfectly normal thing to have. However it is growing in popularity that in hong kong/ japan many girls are now having mid-path or no bangs from western culture and this is what i am finding weird, although i m not at all against the change. I guess you have some misconception on hairstyle but i totally agree with your thoughts on the ‘cuteness’ trend going on with asians.
guest
Really? Hating bangs is like hating layered or dyed hair. There’s nothing you can do about it. Honestly, what hairstyle isn’t overused?
daisy / 728 posts
i do agree most asian girls have ONE look and it follows whatever trend there is ~ but hey, i have longer than my face bangs (not even sure if its call bangs…if its thattt long!) so i guess not all asian are into cute, childish looking hair….and i mean their bangs are not like supermodel straight across bangs or anything edgy, they are…young-wanna be bangs ~ gross~!
hydrangea / 77 posts
…you put so much energy into hating a hairstyle it’s hilarious.
I bet your hairstyle is as overused as bangs. Unless you’re into lady gaga-like hairstyles, there are only so many ways u can style your hair, you know.
guest
The side sweep thing irks me more so than Asians with bangs. haha Why can’t Asians have bangs? The side sweeping deal blocks your vision and the girls only have one hand to do things because they have their other hand holding their hair back. I guess it works if you want to learn to be a lefty/righty… lol =p Eh.
guest
BANGS ARE AWESOME.
guest
some people NEED bangs. i have an enormous forehead and have sported sideswept bangs since 11th grade (i am now 23), and recently changed to straight-across bangs. i definitely look better with bangs than without due to the size of my forehead. and this “trend” doesn’t only exist in asians.
guest
well.. we generally think that having bangs on the side can cover some parts of the face and make you look skinnier..
but eventually i found out.. people usually look skinnier when the have like pony tail or with their hair all tied up.. im pretty much over bangs now..
guest
Bangs are good for those with wide or high brows. A lot of Asians have round faces or high brows (especially Mongolians, Nepalese, etc).
Bangs in Asians is a cultural thing. If you look at all the chinese kung fu movies or any other movies or dramas set in the old dynasty days, you see all these ladies in elaborate hairdos with bangs. Also check out the old Asian paintings in museums or art galleries.
guest
so much ill-placed hate…
guest
i love bangs. they’re my “favorite” asian trend.
guest
Wow… I can’t believe you’re so pissed about a hairstyle.
SO WHAT? Now a bunch of people have bangs. Well, before they all didn’t have bangs… and were you upset about that?
There are only so many ways you can do your hair. So, why care if a bunch of people have similar hair styles?

I like bangs.
They work on my face and it changes up my hairstyle a bit…

Whenever I pull my bangs back, my forehead looks ridiculous. Bangs are wonderful.
But, yes, those examples pictured are ew.
guest
@MissPixieGlitter@xanga - So agreed.
hydrangea / 78 posts
I agree with the cute thing but not the bangs thing.
guest
I’ve sported the bangs as a child, and grew up to hate it, because all the other girls had long, centerparted fringes.
Later on in high school, I sported it every other year (due to some seriously bad haircuts) .. but I must say, I looked pretty good with bangs.
I’m sporting the sidebangs now since my forehead is huge.. and my face has grown wider over the years.
guest
More like 9 out of 10 girls have them.
I used to be one of them, but then I realized we all looked the same! So I’m attempting to grow out my bangs out (I get this crazy urge to trim them every now and then).
guest
If you dont like them, don’t get them. Geez….
And fyi, Asians will always have bangs. It’s not just a trend… it’s just how we are. ahaha
guest
Chill! I’m wanting to get bangs now just because you’re hating on them so much!
I think I would blame American celebrities who have pulled off bangs so well, and remember that in many Asian countries there is much more pressure to conform than in some other countries.
Bangs, like any other “trend,” will go out of style and come back gain eventually because they DO flatter certain features! They will cycle in and out of style just like straight vs. curly and short vs. long hair, so just chill, lay back, and wait for it to end.
guest
Nope. I like how all of your examples are white people, considering this post is about asian bangs are annoying.
guest

That girl in the first picture doesn’t look bad with them.

Are you serious?! Out of all the topics in the world to write about you come in here complaining about bangs?! WTF?! Lovelyish, you have got to set higher standards for your posters….. really?! This girl is complaining about bangs?! Who cares if people have bangs or not. It’s their hair, not yours. Stop complaining loser!
guest
some people actually look good in bangs.
But if you’re aiming at those who look rediculous, then I agree with you.
guest
I can’t believe you’re getting all hyped over bangs. Wow. If I didn’t have bangs, I’d look horrible.
And bangs isn’t only a ‘Asian’ trend either.
guest
Bangs are everywhere are my school, which is like.. 50% Asian. A lot of the non-Asians have their hair in bangs. Some can actually work those bangs! But I know some friends who have bangs, and I personally think that it looks better on them when the bang get LONGER. As for me, I had bangs as a kid, and once about two years ago because I got myself a very short hairstyle. Now I don’t plan to get bangs at all because it does not work well on my face.
guest
Bangs are great for hiding a prominent forehead. Not trying to be snarky – I know people who wear bangs for the reason.
guest
i like side swept bangs. some people look good with it.
guest
i don’t know that to tell you…
if it bothers you that much i think you should go tell them that it’s annoyingmaybe they’ll grow it out for youbut other than that… there really was no point in this post
guest
well.. if you have a huge forehead.. bangs can minimize the hugeness… v__v
it’s not a frkng ‘trend’ its part of a hairstyle e.g. if u get that rakish layered look, that would look a bit strange without a fringe/bangs
guest
Trends are a big thing in Korea. It’s a sign that you’re fashion-forward, so people pay more attention to what’s in and what’s out. The Korean entertainment industry is very interesting for that reason. It pushes fashion and style, and everyone participates in the movement in a way that won’t be acceptable in the US because the guys will immediately be labeled ‘gay.’ I guess Lady GaGa makes up for it by putting on a one-woman show.
guest
i have had bangs since i was a kid, my mom thinks i have a huge forehead. im 19 now and i’ll probably have bangs for the rest of my life. i dont really care if this is a trend or not because without bangs, my head looks REALLY big.
guest
lol raising your voice a bit too much?
so angry and displeased
just because “many” asians have similar taste in haircuts?
and you chose to put 4 bad examples of bangs
just to get your point across?
not convincing anyone here
good luck finding people calling you beautiful
what a hater lol
guest
why dont you just care about yourself.
ihts not like your insult or rant can stop the whole world -not only asians- buht the world form getting bangs.
guest
Take a walk pretty much anywhere in America, let me assure you, you will find more than five out of ten people are overweight. [ps: I am American, and while I may not be obese, I'm definitely not skinny, so I think I'm allowed to say that].
Sorry, I know that’s going to offend somebody. My point was really just that, there are definitely more imporant things to worry about than hair styles. And the girl in the first picture looks totally good with bangs.
guest
most people look better with bangs than without. it’s pretty boring to just have all straight hair. even if asian people have nice hair.
and not maybe people can be called “beautiful” that’s why it’s such a big deal that girls want a guy to call them “beautiful” and beaty isn’t only skin (or hair) deep. it’s a lot more than that.
guest
Lol. This is funny =P. You’re so passionately against it that it reminds me of my opinion on skinny jeans and guys haha. Except that I think skinny jeans on guys are bad across the board, regardless of HOW it may “suit them”. Pfffft.
I’ve lived with and without bangs. I have bangs now and I’ve had them for the last few years…I like it better with bangs and I do think I look better that way. Frames my face more, I guess… I’d probably have a problem with it too if I’m ever only called cute now that I’m in my 20′s…but I suppose thankfully cute, beautiful, pretty, hot have all be used generously by those around me. Otherwise, I’m against that “cutesy girly” look many of my Asian counterparts subscribe to too.
I’d just like to add to your emphasis that bangs do not necessarily = bad, and “trying too hard to be cute” and failing.
guest
Yeeah. You need to calm the fack down. Lol. Seriously. They’re just bangs, and it’s not only “Asians” that have them – since you emphasized that so damn much (which I don’t know why you did, but whatever).
Plus, just because you have bangs, doesn’t mean you can’t be “beautiful”. And of course, as everyone knows: Beauty is only skin deep. I don’t think anyone will be calling you “beautiful” any time soon after this post.
I don’t even know what to say anymore. This whole “arguement”/post was just beyond stupid. I felt like I was reading something by some 5 year old whining about stupid shit – or maybe I was. Who knows.

BANGS FTW.
I’ve had my bangs since… forever. Sometimes side swept, sometimes full on bangs. Side swept on the days where i wanna semi cover a lazy eye (ugh) and full bangs on the days when.. I just want them. I’m asian. And yeah, hellaaaa asian people have bangs but oh well. I used to think, blah great, I look like a fob, but I loveee bangs and am proud to be an asian with blangs so what the fuck ever.
guest
I’ve been thinking about getting bangs, actually.
But I’m Caucasian (British and Eastern-European Jewish, to be exact), so does this warning even apply to me?
guest
bangs are so cute. what is the point of your ramble? like seriously, what did that do for your life?
guest
yes i have a side bang. [guilty. i am an asian.] but it helps me shape my face so that i like it.
but i do agree that bangs don’t work on everyone. but if they truly like it, who are we to tell them otherwise?
guest
Wow. All I can say is wow.
It’s weird how the silliest things matter to some people. It’s just a hairstyle dude.
guest
The way my hair grows, I have bangs. I’m growing them out so I don’t have to deal with them, or so that I can have that one loose sexy strand, but they are very annoying. I just have them until they get long enough for me to pin/barette back. They’re annoying-especially when kissing my boyfriend. Always have to take “breaks” to push them out of my face. Gosh I wish my hair would grow faster so that I could actually pin them back!

I love bangs(:

Some people can work bangs.
Sometimes bangs flatter people’s face’s.It depends on the cut and face shape on whether or not I hate them.
I DON’T like the straight across bang look.I like when they are side swept, mostly.
And then those of us (like me) with a huge forehead, bands help.
guest
Fergie is just a bad example, period. Bangs are cute, and I have found Asians can pull them off more than most white people. However, they do get old for a fresh look, and there are too many botched cases floating around.
guest
Tell me, what hairstyle do you usually go out with? Unless you’re doing some crazy artsy shit, most people probably have the same hairstyle as you do.
guest
cool story brah
guest
@mywordsx@xanga - Agreed. They actually originated in Europe.. Lots of hipsters sport them too.
guest
The example pictures are not Asian, so it doesn’t really support the post at all.
Also, it’s just hair. Chillll.
guest
@annnnie - LOLOLOL
xD too funny
I like bangs especially on Asians they are in fact beautiful :3
guest
it’s mean to call people dumbasses for wanting to try something different. most people have a ravaging desire for change so they don’t feel boring. if they regret them, don’t rub it in their faces. at least they don’t hold themselves back from trying something new in fear of insult.
but i agree. some people with bangs look like dumbasses.
guest
I completely agree with you! I’m Korean and I’ve noticed that girls from my country tend to copy whatever is ‘cool’ instead of trying something new. That’s where the bangs come in! It’s not only the bangs, but with almost every style. Once one thing is ‘cute’, then everyone wants to get it.
I also want to say that I’m sick and tired of all the ‘cuteness’ that Asian teens and women are trying to portray. I find it unattractive and childish, and that it shows that they’re still one step behind from that full sense of maturity.
guest
i don’t hate bangs, but there are a lot of other asian trends out there that annoy the hell out of me.
guest
Bangs are a GOOD Asian trend. I love them!
sunflower / 257 posts
why do you care what people do with their hair as long as they’re not forcing it on you
guest
I understand where you are coming from about bangs being a trend mostly seen in Asian countries. However, some people can’t really change dramatic hairstyle because of their facial feature. For example, girls with a rather round and short face need some bangs over their forehead to soften the “big face” look. I know this for a fact because my face is shaped like that. Yes, some people may be extremely comfortable and wouldn’t mind showing their entire face, but in certain situations, bangs can help hide some flaws which may boost self-confidence. Overall, trend is annoying because numerous people jump on the bandwagon regardless of whether they fit it or not.
guest
how about this. shut the fuck up. no one cares if you hate bangs or not. go kill yourself now.

hahah bangs.. my mom loves them i had them when i was little i had the up until recently the side swept ones anyway, but im growing them out, i dont have any quip with them but ive seen them look HORRENDOUS

Some people can pull it off, others can’t… I think this is an overrated post.
guest
Personally, I think you have too much time in your hands, letting that stuff bother you. You’re supposed to be in Asia, there are a lot of things to do there, other than hating on others’ hairstyles.
The examples you gave were almost worst-case scenarios.
And about the cute thing…don’t even get me started.
guest
I have bangs and I think they are quite cute but I feel that girls in asia like to style it in an animation looking way. I agree, there is a line between sexy full bangs and the bangs aligns with your eyebrows. If you are not an anime character, don’t try it
sunflower / 310 posts
I think it’s true that your bangs should suit your face shape, and that some people look best with none at all. But in the end, everyone is allowed to experiment. I have been planning to get some feathery full bangs soon, and this article has not deterred me from doing so. (:
guest
I have bangs, I have worn them straight down like that a few times but they end up flattening & right now they are too long. I just sweep mine to the side. I cut mine last year after trying to figure out if I should or not & I’m happy with my choice. If I don’t feel like having them down I either wear a headband or I pin them back into a little poof thing. I live in Japan (I’m American) & I do see a ton of women with bangs. I am 20 btw but I have rounder facial features & I think bangs compliment my face. A lot of people ask me if I am 15 years old but they do that regardless of my bangs so I may as well have them.
guest
Well that’s mean… I am korean but luckily, I don’t have bangs
guest
in asia, cute = beautiful. the implications of being called “cute” is better than being called it in america since it is associated with innocence and youth, both which are VERY important qualities there. (girls begin to use anti-aging products at age 20).
basically, being cute is more desired than being pretty.

I want bangs. A lot of people are getting them now, but I’ve had my eye on bangs for years… I just haven’t had the guts to get ‘em because they’re so different from anything I’ve done with my hair before. I don’t want it to backfire! We’ll see. I don’t feel like the trend is so overdone or common over here that it’d be ridiculous to get bangs now, but we’ll see how I feel about it in a month or so…
guest
I can take or leave bangs. I currently have straight-across bangs myself and like them. I don’t usually notice them on other people. But the thing that strikes me about this post is the line, “Take a walk in Asia, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea… you name it, let me assure you…” Ah, what?? Asia is the largest continent in the world. Has this writer walked down a large sampling of the streets in Asia? It’s weird to me how it’s ok for people to make sweeping generalizations about east Asians but not about most other nationalities. Very weird.
And when I say sweeping, I mean sweeping. More than half of the world’s population lives in Asia.
guest
Chill the fuck out…

why do you care so much? did an asian girl with cute bangs kill your puppy?! chill out about hair lol.

Wow. Bangs are NOT only for asians; you’re putting on that label so easily on this. Can you please take your head out of your narrowmindedness and actually think before you post? Yes, I am asian myself and I do have bangs. Maybe you might not look good in them, but some other people do.
I don’t really see the point in this blog; are you trying to rid all asians of their bangs? If ALL Asians get rid of it, then they’ll all have the same hairstyle, just like what you are claiming with bangs. What’s next? Another rant blog about asians no-bangs?
(The examples you have for the “ugly bang styles” are all of caucasian people… what’s up with that?)
guest
damn girl, take a breather.
don’t let them bother you.
unless you secretly want bangs yourself. lol
guest
It really worries me to see that you are so worked up about something so insiginificant like a hairstyle on other people… Imagine if something REALLY and actually pissing did happen to you, you’d go ape#(%* on the worrrld.
guest
i like bangs only when they’re like the first picture posted: kind of thin, not so straight across. but i prefer side swept bangs to no bangs at all. it’s so dull to have a part right in the middle of your head, and a huge forehead. you don’t have to get those atrocious bangs picture above, but something is better than nothing imo.
guest
You have to understand, some people have HUGE foreheads. I myself amd sporting a FIVE FINGER forehead and ever since I was little I have had bangs. Why? because it hides one of my number one insecurities
There’s nothing wrong with bangs, and there is ntohing wrong with being called cute when your 20. I for one am very jealous of the Asian race and I like to tell people that I am Blasian (Black and Asian), because
a) Asians are cute
b) I look like I’m part Korean
c) I’m obsessed with Asian culture
guest
*cries* I have bangs because they look good on me apparently.
What I can’t stand is when I see hordes of Asian schoolgirls with the same straight-bang, bowlcut look. It’s horrific. And the bowlcut was something I happily discarded once I was old enough to tell my Mum to keep her hands off the scissors.
guest
Why don’t you write something about all the black male have bald head or corn hair? I’m not being racist, but just trying to give an example that people from different race group have certain style that they feel more comfortable with. I guess you pay so much attention to the Asian girl hair cut is because you are Asian, yet you want to distinguish yourself from them. Btw, I know a lot of Asian female, but I don’t see too much of them having hangs or fringe.
guest
I love bangs, I just got them recently.
They make my face and forehead look so much smaller, and they’re so convenient (not the monthly trimmings), but the fact that hair doesn’t sweep and cover my entire face.

i don’t think everyone should have bangs, but honestly, its just hair. and they look good on a lot of face shapes. if the bangs themselves are bad, like the ones in the pictures you put up, then yes, they should go. but mostly that’s not the case.
guest
I have sidebangs but that’s because I have a big forehead hahaha ;-; but I definitely agree with this: “In fact, (sorry to sound mean), you look more like a dumb ass who try too hard to be cute, but (oops) failed!”
Straight bangs are cute, but like you said, it depends on the person…It’s just a trend, it will die soon hopefully~

What’s not “annoying”?
Hair line split in the middle?
Sorry, I don’t think you can sport that either. >
Having bangs doesn’t mean they’re trying to be “cute”,
hope you get that straight, lol.

Yes, some people can’t pull off the look with bangs. But they wouldn’t know unless they tried. Then so is everything else. If you don’t look good in it, why try it right? Why bother buy the bikini if you have a bakery hidden under the baggy clothes. The thing with hair is that you don’t know if it’ll look good on you until you tried. With clothes, it’s just noticing your body figure.
guest
THIS ISN’T NEW. They go wayyyyyyy back into the old days.
You’ve been blessed with a normal forehead. We get it. STOP picking on girls with huge foreheads and need bangs to cover them up. It’s not OUR fault we were born this way. God, we get bangs just to cover up one tiny thing we don’t like about ourselves and we get a hate post.

I think too many Asian girls have the same hairstyle. Like.. the side bangs.. either to the left or right. Change it up a bit!

who cares. if they like it and pull it off, why’s it matter if YOU dislike it?

@xlostinthecityx@xanga - in taiwan i find that when guys compliment girls, they tend to say that the girl is very innocent looking or very cute. perhaps it’s different in other asian countries then. since taiwan follows the fashion trends of japan rather closely i assumed that japan would be the same (kawaii-trend).

i think that bangs are fine and can look great on people. i have bangs and i definitely won’t mind being called cute. this post is unnecessary

‘extraordinarily stunning attractive natural features’
Wtf xD
You know, people with bangs can be beautiful as well .-.

Sorry, I don’t normally comment on these things but this post is so unbelievably STUPID that I couldn’t help myself. Please, don’t waste time writing stuff like this. Really, its a style that make some people look great. I’m guessing you’re not one of them.
guest
Annoying isn’t so bad, you want to talk about the most evil Asian trend at the moment then try ‘lesbianism’, seemingly five out of ten (or more!) Asian girls you see walking around, or on the net, are going for it! That’s FAR worse!
Though they’re not my favourite, I don’t mind bangs, and in fact I like really well done bangs, and many Asian girls do them well!

I don’t have a fringe cos I think it’ll make me cute etc, my bf loves fringes and I think it looks for flattering on my long face so have had it for the most part of 8 years now (I’m 28!). I was thinking recently that I am getting too old for dyed hair/fringe but my frens say to keep it for now. I know i’ll be stuck in a rut within 2 years, help!!

I think it’s very ironic that your post complains about Asians with bangs, but your “bad” examples are pictures of Caucasian people, while your “Asian” example looks very pretty. Then again, it’s probably difficult to find Asians who look terrible with bangs, since they generally know how to style them.
For me, I think most girls look similar to each other within the same ethnicity (yes, that includes Asians and Caucasians). It doesn’t help that all hair styles are common, except for the ones Lady Gaga uses. Plus, judging from your profile picture, your hair style also looks like one that is extremely common (probably even more common than bangs). So, unless you have a very unique hair style, I don’t think you are in a position to diss about the commonality of another style.
Bangs can make a person look very sweet and approachable. I would love to have them, only that my natural hair would not allow me to have them unless I want to look like my hair has exploded (I am an Asian, but my hair is extremely curly to the point of frizziness). Really, try to appreciate your straight hair that can make bangs easy and possible. I would love to not have to spend 1-2 hours on my hair just to tame it.
One last thing. Some of my guy friends complain about girls who are offended at being called “cute”. “Cuteness” is what they really want in the girls they like, because they feel that these girls are more approachable, down-to-earth, friendly, and humble. However, because some girls don’t take those compliments nicely, they had stopped giving out compliments.
On the other hand, some of them don’t dare to tell another girl that she is ”pretty”, “beautiful”, “gorgeous”, or “hot”, because they had experiences that those girls would think the guy either want to 1) date them, or 2) have sex with them, when the poor guys only meant those words as a pure compliment.
As someone mentioned already, I think us girls should just take compliments with grace and appreciation, instead of complaining or over-thinking about them. If you want to complain about receiving compliments, then…well, you don’t deserve to be complimented. Period.

Sorry but I love my bangs.. Makes my face look better and my hair is easier to manage.
guest
Why can’t Asians have bangs? n I can’t believe you’re so pissed about a hairstyle. = =
guest
It’s not just an Asian trend. I go to a school with all different kinds of races and most of us remotely have the same hair style because hair is hair. It may be curly or wavy or straight but most people will have some sort of bangs. Causasians, african americans, asians, whomever.
Look:
http://images.search.yahoo.com/search/images;_ylt=A0oGk0WLh3JLMGoAvJVXNyoA?ei=UTF-8&p=side+swept+bangs&fr2=tab-web&fr=yfp-t-701
I have a lighter side swept haircut and so do most people because we’re not little kids anymore and most people don’t like to split our hairs in the middle like our mamas did for us when we were kids. Separating your hair on to one side (rather than right in the middle) will produce “bangs” and it’s the easiest hairstyle to do and handle.True, it looks like Asians all look the same, but what can we really do with our front hairs? I don’t like to have nothing in my face, I’d look like I have a really big forehead.
Sorry, but looking at your profile picture, that hairstyle would look ugly on me and on most people. I can’t tell with you since I can’t see your face but I don’t like the split in the middle hairstyle but hey, I won’t make a hate blog about it.
guest
lol u srS? hate is such a strong word. u used it on a hairstyle? does it really bother u that much. lool

your profile pic would look good with a set of BANGS.
guest
i think bangs look better on me.
guest
@xgina_x@xanga - true that
guest
dude chill out.
and stop the fucking racism going on in here.
who are you to judge?
guest
To each their own. Some look good in it and there are some that are not so good. There are worst trends around than that. If hair is clean and healthy looking, that’s what matters. The world is made of lots of differences.
guest
You dont show your creativity by wearing or not wearing a fringe.
But ok, I have noticed that some of people have it just becoue its `trendy`.
But a lot of people actualy look better with a fringe.
I dont like when people are calling me cute ..but offesive? really?
guest
Um … this makes you seem very shallow. If it looks good on someone, what’s it to you? Who are you to judge just because you see 6 other people with bangs? Christ mind your own business.
guest
Ha~~ We are the same type of people!!!
I don’t like bangs and fringes too!!
I’m an Asian but I don’t like bangs.
You said that it is five out of ten girls but in Hong Kong, I think it is seven out of ten.
It bothers me because I’m the minority who don’t have bands. It makes me feel that I’m a hick.
It’s nice to know that someone feels the same with me.
guest
I agree that some people fit the bangs but I’m just not the person.
And it’s annoying when the bangs rub aganist your eyes.
guest
Well, that was harsh. I think most people look pretty cute with bangs, actually. I don’t find them annoying at all.
guest
It’s a hairstyle. Next, you’re going to flip out that everyone has hair slightly below their shoulders. DEAR GOD, WHY ARE WE ALL THE SAME?
If someone dyed their hair pink and got a mohawk, you’d just flip out about how tacky it is. Hypocrite in the making..
P.S.
You’re never going to be B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L by being a bitch like that.
guest
bangs look good on a lot of people
i don’t like my forehead
guest
i love bangs, and i don’t find this trend to be annoying what so ever <3
guest
Hmmm…. I’m trying to figure out why this is such a big deal. If it’s because people look like everyone else – um, why do you care? People do things to look like the “norm” anyhow. They wear the same fashions, they wear the same makeup…etc.
I can’t pull off the bangs because of my super curly hair, but hey, if it looks good on you, then why not?
guest
“asian bangs”? good lord, that makes you sound so racist.
some people choose to have bangs because it may be better suited for their face shape. personally, i have sideswept bangs and not a part down the middle because i have a massive forehead.
guest
i personally love bangs. =] NOT cuz im asian but cuz it acctually looks good on my face frame. it just depends on if u like the style on u or not. i like lots of american actress’ bangs too! ;]. and whats wrong with being called cute in your twenties? its a lovely compliment
guest
It would be more logical if you put examples of why bangs look bad on Asian people. Because, isn’t that your argument? That Asian people need to stop getting bangs?
And if you have time to vent about this, maybe you should vent about all the other injustices in the world. OMG why is everyone wearing shoes? OMG why is everyone wearing pants? OMG why is everyone wearing t-shirts? THEY ALL LOOK THE SAME NOW.
And besides, this sounds like a typical “all Asian people look the same” argument. Really?
guest
Wow, you’re so passionate about this issue.
Is that you in the profile picture?
You hair looks shite.
A set of sideswept bangs would do you good.
I do agree with the whole ‘cuteness’ thing you brought up, though. That is annoying. The only thing that bugs me is that this post only makes sense only and only if you equate having a set of bangs to someone trying to pull off ‘cute’.
You’re passionate, I’ll give you that.
But relax…
Unwind…
Get a haircut.
guest
Omg chill out girl, bangs are handy for girls like me who want to cover their forhead XD. Are you on your period or something?
sunflower / 494 posts
why can’t people just try it? you sound so harsh haha
guest
I had bangs when I was younger and tried it again last year, but ehh didn’t look good at all,in my opinion.
I can see youre pretty sick of it lol. It’ll go away sometime!
guest
I <3 my bangs.
The only complaint I have is how fast they grow out.
guest
whats wrong with bangs? it gives a different style on people! i’d be bored if i go to a country and see everyone without bangs
guest
Theres only so many hairstyles and millions of people.. Why are you hating on the bangs ? What did it ever do to you!
guest
The whole bangs topic is irrelevant to asians first of all. People from all over have bangs.
I used to have bangs when I was little, then grew them out because I hated them. But then I got the side swept ones about a year ago and they’re fine. It’s all about preference to what a person likes.
But geesh, calm down. it’s not that big of a deal. People do what they want.
guest
HAHAHA this is such a stupid post. Enough said.
guest
it looks good
guest
YES thank you
OMG all asian girls in my school are following the same trends…
and you wonder why people say that all asian girls look the same >.>
guest
trust me, i would choose no bangs over bangs any day. unfortunately i just don’t look good without it.
guest
it’s funny how the blog is about asians with bangs and fringes, yet the photos are of non-asians. rofl. i’m not around a lot of asians so i don’t know what the trend is for asian people or people in asian countries. but i’m sure you can relieve your problem by moving somewhere diverse. homogeneity seems to be driving you nuts.
guest
Bangs are awesome!!!
guest
Honestly, Who cares..
guest
This is kind of a stupid thing to HATE. Those cute asian girls with bangs are ten-times cuter then Ill ever be so I cant talk shit. They look adorable, what more do you want?

i love bangs. i am asian.
guest
well why not just shave your head if its so overrated..?
guest
i don’t get what’s wrong with bangs… it’s either you have them or you don’t….
guest
all of the bad examples you put up were not of asian people… that doesn’t really prove your point. =)
guest
I agree with you, I’m half asian, but i have/had side-swepped bangs and my boyfriend calls me “cute” constantly. Hardly ever pretty or beautiful, even though he thinks I am.
But I need bangs because I have a rather large forehead that is emphasized when I don’t have bangs. Bummer.
guest
Oh gosh, people have bangs can’t be B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L? emm, wel.
I think the fringe & bangs thing cause by school tho.
As you have to tied you hair up everyday(stupid dress code:S), without a fringe does look a bit …
guest
I prefer sidebangs myself.. but I can totally see what you mean about Asians and the whole bangs/fringes thing. I can understand bangs as a whole because you can have different types of bangs and etc, but I always see people in Japan with the same style.. not just their bangs either! More like their whole hairstyle (including color). CLONES, I TELL YOU.
guest
after reading this post.. i feel that you are truely not beautiful by putting a bunch of people down with bangs, and with poor justifications too .. especially to your own race. you know your hairstyle look bad from the profile i see. maybe you should try bangs : ) maybe it’ll make (upgrade) you from ugly to cute.. o wait.. maybe the ‘ugly’ part i am seeing comes from your hatrd not your hairstyle.. and you want to be called ‘beautiful’? please wake up! you will never be beautiful with the way you think.
guest
Reading your blog made me think of this phrase. “JEALOUS FATTY.”
Just because you look awful with bangs doesn’t mean you need to start hating on others who have them.
Plus, you specifically said “ASIAN TREND”…are the two “bad” examples of bangs even Asian? NO.
It’s probably self-hatred you harbor.

Don’t like my big forehead therefore I shall be having bangs. lol.
She bangs she bangs, oh baby. XD
guest
bangs are cute. get over it
guest
Oh, wow, rant much? Lol…
guest
@ivywithu@xanga - kinda depressing how you relate it to being ‘skinny’ like that should be everyones ideal? very trivial
guest
There are probably people that really don’t like eyeliner even though many many women wear it. I personally don’t like bangs on most people but..my fiance loves them, he thinks every woman looks better with bangs. Soo..some people like them, some people don’t..if you don’t like them, don’t get them!
guest
Whoa man, did your boyfriend dump you for an Asian girl with bangs or something? There seems to be a lot of unnecessary hatred here…
I’m not Asian, but I had bangs from the moment my hair became long enough at 2 until I was nearly 19. I’ve only tried growing them out since this summer because I looked significantly younger…but I seriously miss them!
@samuelchoo@xanga – Incredibly well said, thank you!
guest
hahahaha i loved reading that!!! some people look so amazing.. but wat annoys me most is when i see even older people trying to be cute.. its even worse than annoying.. its freaking revolting to see a 30-50 year old with the SAME hair cut as the 15-25….
lol.. i liked my fringe.. it suits me.. coudln’t be bothered cutting it.. now my hair is zero maintenance and perfect =D@Masked_Melody@xanga - hehe.. imagine if the trend went to shaved heads… millions of shaved heads.. that would be pretty annoying too lol
guest
Bangs are not limited to ‘just ASIANS’. I myself have bangs and I am a white girl living in the midwest. Almost all of my closest friends have bangs too, now that I think of it. It is just a trend, or hairstyle and I think it is ridiculous to get that riled up that all the AZNS are doing it.
THE CRACKERS ARE TOOOOOOOOOO
guest
i’m an asian and i don’t have bangs. i think not everyone having bangs aims to be cute. and there are various types of bangs and that doesn’t make all people look identical.
guest
lololol. bang bang.
but i have to say, i’m getting annoyed with my long side bangs, but without bangs, i look like a little kid :/
you know how you can read a word over and over and it begins to look strange to you? that’s what’s happening to me with “bang/bangs” right now, haha.
guest
bangs aren’t a trend.. lol -_- a trend would be japanese curls or currently short, pixie cuts.
guest
yea, but when you’re in the usa..barely any asians have bangs and they all have IDENTICAL haircuts (including me lol)! but who cares..just do whatever suits your face..i was thinking of getting bangs too..but not the heavy ones..and beauty is different in different cultures..that’s just how it is
guest
You have too much time on your hands to hate these kind of things.
It’s not like other people are forcing you to have bangs.
I look good with bangs and that’s why I have them, and even if they don’t it’s really just my choice, none of your business. Actually I am convinced that I will never go bangless in my life time.

is that girl from she? hebe or selena?
guest
really, “you asians”? you need to calm down. Bangs are just a trend, in the us as well. Everyone is just trying them out to see if it fits them. So just stop hating, please.
guest
@xlostinthecityx@xanga - I know exactly what kinds of bangs you are talking about too, lolol. I was trying to find one of my friends at school and I thought I saw her.. so I went behind the girl and tacklehugged her because I always do. It wasn’t her.. BUT SHE HAD THE FLIPPING SAME HAIRSTYLE AS MY FRIEND. Even worse, the bangs were the same (hahahah xD) The color.. and everything. You know that typical color you see with Japanese girls.. like that blondish but still brown kind of color? Yeah, my friend has that. I felt bad for the random Japanese girl I had basically tackled to the floor xD
And seriously, come on guys, she’s just voicing her opinion. Don’t post with hate :/ If you don’t like then you don’t need to bring other people down about their postings.

I think bangs are cute. And not everybody has the same idea of beautiful and cute. I’ve never met anybody who was THIS worried about what other people were wearing their hair like whenever they left their home, though. :/
I don’t have bangs, but that’s mostly because they grew out and I don’t have the money to get my hair cut. I would do it myself, but I’m afraid of really messing it up and not being able to fix it right. :/ If there’s a way to screw something up, rest assured I will find it. -_-;

I literally JUST got bangs … and I love how I look with them!
I’ve gotten lots of compliments (:
they’re very, very, VERY popular here in mexico

I’m EurASIAN, and have a side swept fringe. It obviously works for my face because if it didn’t, when I had my hair done for a magazine photo shoot, the stylist would have sniped them right off. While I agree that bangs don’t work on every face shape, I don’t really think it’s annoying. What’s annoying is when Asian girls try to change their hair colour to a more ‘Caucasian’ shade. Being a blond Asian is to me just a downright stupid thing.
At least cuteness is something Asian girls are after… and when you look at a Caucasian culture where the line between sexiness and sluttiness is always so blurry, isn’t it awesome that our Asian girls still feel that they don’t have to pull their asses and tits out just to be attractive? At least it’s just bangs. At least they still have an inner child rather than an inner slut!
I’m Eurasian, I’m part of both worlds and have experienced both worlds. And considering that even in Asia, we have magazines depicting Western models in various states of undress, isn’t it frigging awesome that despite that, Asian girls feel those aren’t their role models and that the Western trend isn’t a trend for them??

why do you hate bangs so much?
its fuckin hair? that asian girl looks cute a s fuck with her bangs
who the fuck cares?

yo, its either.. bangs, side fringe, or no bangs
theres not that much to pick from?
wheny ou have bangs you can.. have bangs? move them sideways? or pull them up..
bangs = 3 for everything.

Take a chill pill.
guest
wow biotch. y dont ppl start having their hair like urs then
guest
yes, as an asian, i would say that cuteness is sadly very emphasized in our culture.
most of us have no boobs or butts, therefore what else do we have?
our cuteness!
however, that being said, i do not look good with bangs… and i feel that some of us (ahem*snsd*) go a little overboard with the “cuteness”, to the point where it is fake.
i always keep asking whether i should get side bangs or not and all of my friends say “NO!”.
it just doesn’t suit some of us (facial structure, etc.).
oh well.
also, without my bangs, my skin has cleared up considerably!! no more pimples on my forehead!

how are bangs annoying? what if asian girls decided to get rid of their bangs, and everywhere you go there are girls without bangs? Then would that make it annoying and boring too? Yeah it’s true a lot of girls have bangs, so it’s not just an “Asian” trend. There are so many American celebs with side bangs ie. Selena Gomez and even Justin Bieber LoL.
peony / 2 posts
insecure much? get over yourself.
peony / 2 posts
to add to my comment above – why is it that when asian people choose to do something because they simply like the look (like wear bangs), it’s seen as overdone? yet when that trend is popular elsewhere (like bangs have been lately in the US), it’s seen as americanizing or being copycats? they can’t win – make up your mind and stop being critical.
peony / 1 posts
I agree.. this is so stupid.. i made an account just so i could comment. I could easily have said ” ponytails are so annoying.. everywhere I go.. ppl have their hair in ponytails.. ” There are only so many ways you could style your hair. So friggen relax
guest
I think I would have found this article a little less appalling if it were just about bangs and not about “Asian” bangs. Asian people aren’t the only people who wear bangs, as proven by the fact that, ironically, your examples of “bangs gone wrong” are of bangs on non-Asian people. People mistaking you as any other Asian person is them being ignorant, you writing this article is you being rude, racist, and a hypocrite. I hope that you will never have the joy of beautifully sporting awesome bangs.
peony / 1 posts
I think you are overreacting wayy too much. So what if asian countries like to have bangs? It’s not JUST asian countries! In the USA a lot of people want to have name brands and have side bangs. I don’t get whats so annoying. Plus we asians don’t all look alike, in our eyes a lot of white people look alike too. You’re just not used to seeing all of us, and for example, Korea is very small. It’s a little smaller than Virginia, and being in a very small country trends spread like wildfire. And when a trend is set EVERYONE has it. It’s none of your business how they want to cut their hair, it’s their hair. I really don’t like how you targeted asians when we’re not the only ones. Plus your a hypocrite when you said you had bangs too? WTF, why would you even post this then? That’s really hypocritical, and you shouldn’t write something about yourself. So basically this article is to yourself…? You followed that trend just like everyone else now stop telling people how bad bangs are. Your annoying.
