Ah, isn’t it great when things get blown out of proportion by the media, and everyone and their brother actually BELIEVES everything?
I recently read one of the top posts talking about a so called “lingerie” line “launched” by Noah Cyrus.
“What? Really? That’s absurd!”
Those were my first thoughts. So, I did a little bit more research. What I found was NOT mentioned by the blog I referred to above. In reality:
1) Launching a line is different from modeling for a line.
Just because Noah is the new face of this so called “lingerie” line, does not mean it’s hers. It was actually started in 2004. I don’t think she started it when she was four years old…
2) I don’t know who put the tag of “lingerie” on these articles of clothing, but besides being sleeveless, it’s not anything revealing, or different than what other little girls wear. They sell dresses, long sleeved sweaters, and colorful leggings. Not frilly bras, corsets, or see-through thongs.
3) Just an FYI, Noah actually just turned ten, she’s not nine. Though I do recognize both those ages are still young, how can we trust information from someone who can’t get her age right?
Now, I don’t know about anyone else, but I’m tired of adults bashing young celebrities like Noah, Miley, and Taylor Momsen. From what I can see, they’re no different than an other teenager, besides the fact they’re on TV! I didn’t know the criteria for being on television is you have to be a prude goody two shoes your entire life. I don’t think I could handle the pressure of fame, and I don’t get why it’s any of our business.
NO ONE is the perfect role model. But unlike the celebrities, we can hide it from the small impressionable minds around us. If Miley wears some skimpy clothing, whatever, she’s like any other 16 year old. It’s the media’s fault for putting it on the front of every magazine for children to see.
Does anyone else agree? Isn’t it the media’s fault for making a mountain out of a molehill? Are the parents to blame for trying to let their celebrity children grow up normally?
guest
AMEN!
guest
That’s cool of you to really do the research. I just ignored that blog all together. I think it’s not surprising for the media to take something and twist it. Happens all the time.
guest
you’re right . how can we even trust a source that can’t even get their age right?
miley is SEVENTEEN , hun . big fat FAIL .
guest
i get what you’re trying to say, but at the same time many of the things these young “stars” are doing are NOT normal, it’s downright messed up.
& I’m of the opinion that the best parents don’t let their children become childhood stars in the first place. those parents are normally doing it so they can hopefully reap some fame and $ for their childrens’ souls.

Will you be my new best friend?
I try really hard not to pay attention to ANY celebrity gossip/ trash talk stuff. It may be interestingg, but what do I know about the celeb, right? Especially Miley.
guest
I don’t see why people expect teen celebrities to be models for their children. Minors cannot, and should not be role models to other minors. Also, it’s not like teen celebrities “signed up” or agreed to be role models, it just happened.
guest
About time someone get the facts right around here.

I’m so happy you wrote this, this is exactly what I think. I wish someone would give these girls a break. x

sorry about the age thing, but thanks for ignoring my ENTIRE post Noah, which was the main point of the post.
At least I can accept that I’ve made a mistake. I guess no one is allowed to make mistakes anymore? I personally do not follow any celebs, including Miley, hence why I don’t know her age. But it’s obvious you do, thanks for the correctiong. :]

ugh. none of this celebrity shit really matters. who gives a flying fuck what some 9 (oops, sorry, 10!) year old is doing? they’re annoying at that age anyway.

10 year olds in French Maid outfits and fishnet stockings… Pedophiles rejoice.

whether they choose to be a role model is not their choice at all, being a celebrity, a star of the most popular kids show right now automatically warrants it, lets not turn a blind eye to that
&& the thing about research.. in this article many facts were laid down but no citation oreven a mention of the company’s name

@Demolitiongurl88@xanga - just trying to make a point that we all make mistakes. you, me, every celebrity.
but when you make a mistake making it seem like a little girl is this trashy lingerie wearing slut? i just don’t think she needs to be falsely represented that way.
I think she’s cute. She reminds me a LOT of my 9 year old neighbor, and I’m sure my neighbor would adore the dresses Noah is going to model. But I’d be completely and utterly horrified if someone called my neighbor “trashy” or something of the sort.

@MoonFaeEyryan@xanga - trufax.
and just fyi, this little slice of evil had a lot more fun laughing at the lingerie post… XD
guest
Amen. I mean, ive been young once, ive made all sorts of stupid mistakes, fortunately, it was not announced to the whole world. But celebs, whenever they make one teeny tiny mistake, its announced all over the world. Its sad really.
guest
I think Miley said it right in one of her articles I was just reading. She doesn’t mind being a role model, but she’s not here to be anyone’s parent. Thats who the responsibility falls on. Leave these teenage (and even younger) celebs alone, they are still trying to figure their lives out just like normal teens.
guest
celebrity shit is so fkn stupid. seeeeeeeeeeeeeriously WHO CARES.
it’s just a frilly dress. and fishnets are more of like a “punkish” thing now rather than slutty.
they’re playing dress up, i doubt they’re in their 2nd grade classroom.

I knew there’s some kind of misunderstanding! Good thing you clearified everything.

@MoonFaeEyryan@xanga - In a lot of ways, it is, but you’re confusing being “stupid” with being “ignorant”.

I love how everyone blows MIley’s lifestyle out of proportion, when there are about a million other hos in high school that are younger than her (particularly in mine) that are doing far worse.
You know, the ones who sneak vodka into class. And are pregnant one week and mysteriously eggo-preggo-free the next. And manage to get drunk beyond belief every weekend at their “lingerie parties”.Jesus Christ.
guest
@Meowmeowkimmaee@xanga - same here. my mother would have had a heart attack if I wore something like that when I was 10
guest
If the media didn’t cover all of this, we certainly wouldn’t know about it. The difference between teen celebrities and “normal” people is that we can hide our mistakes from people who look up to us. It’s not broadcasted and then talked about endlessly on silly blogs like the original entry on Noah.
@diannisforever@xanga - I agree that being in the spotlight these days automatically turns you into a role model, regardless of whether or not you want to/are qualified. So the problem lies with us, the viewers. What compels us to look up to someone we don’t even personally know, unless we’re aspiring to be entertainers as well? I don’t think parents should encourage that.
@MoonFaeEyryan@xanga - Age isn’t an excuse, but it’s undeniable that as you go through life the way you think about things change. I’ll admit that as a teen 6 years ago I said and did a lot of things that seem pretty foolish now. I’m sure 10 years from now I’ll think what I did in my 20s was stupid too. The point of making mistakes is to learn from them, not feel bad because a bunch of people you don’t know bash you for it. That teaches nothing.
guest
when they came into the industry, they KNEW what they were getting into. they had meetings, their parents spoke to the, etc. everyone knew what was going to happen. that they were going to be seen as rolemodels. their job is their IMAGE. its their JOB. their whole life is a JOB. so YES, she CANT be like any average teenager no matter how much she wants to be or how much she wants to be forgotten and be invinsible and be normal. its too late. these celebs were warned time and time again and were given the details and they still decided to go ahead and do it. im fucking tired of people trying to make up excuses for teen celebs.
and i agree with the comment about the pedophiles. seriously, what the fuck? this only encourages child molestation even more. with the high crime rate, how could people be so stupid to do this and have it become okay in society? shes fucking 10 yrs old wearing clothes that RESEMBLE lingerie. what the fuck are people thinking
guest
i still wouldn’t put a 10-year-old’s face on a line that sells fishnets. too lolita for me, and i bet even nabokov would be irked.

@Demolitiongurl88@xanga - Holy shit all this time I was watching Party In The USA thinking that bitch HAS to be 18.
guest
@MissPixieGlitter@xanga - Yeah, who the hell wears fishnets at 10?
guest
@MissPixieGlitter@xanga - It doesn’t sell fishnets. Those are Noah’s.
guest
it isn’t lingerie but when I was their age, I loved to dress up. the leopard accents are too tacky for my style
lol I would’ve worn the ruffle skirt and top but in a cinderella blue color. the fishnets are too much at that age. it would be okay to wear to a party or other special occasion but not to school. the highlighted hair, whether it is real or clip-ons, is also too much. I didn’t highlight my hair until I was in high school. they probably don’t sell that but their overall look is just a fashion disaster. I had better fashion sense at that age
guest
hmm a 10 year old modelling for langerie??? am i the only one that finds that odd? can you really classify training bras as langerie?

@wired_cynic@xanga - apparently miley’s little sis does. -____-
@bAbiiExxPiNay@xanga - fair enough. but i woudn’t put my 10-year-old in fishnets as a parent. and i wouldn’t market a fishnets-wearing 10-year-old as a business person.

sunflower / 317 posts
@africh@xanga - I read the same article! Harper’s Bazaar, right? It definitely made a lot more sense when Miley put it that way. That’s why I’m not so quick to judge. The media blows EVERYTHING out of proportion. It’s the reason why she deleted her Twitter account, the media was actually making stories out of the tiniest bits and pieces of her life. It’s completely messed up what people will do to trash a person’s life and make money off of it. America just loves a good scandal.

still, she’s modeling these clothes. and still, she’s 10.

kids these days wear short skirts and talk about boys smoking weed and have cellphones by the age of 9. and this is things I’ve seen at my CHURCH. They’re obviously getting ideas from somewhere because when I was 10 years old, I thought of playing four square at school. Not of wearing fishnets or heels of french maid outfits. What she’s wearing for her costume isn’t appropriate for children…why would they even know what a french maid is? I didn’t until I started looking for costumes. I don’t care much about celebrities but I do know that young kids ARE influened by Miley Cyrus (now her sister) and people they see on T.V. When I was younger, I just wanted to be friends with the red ranger. People make a big shit about celebrities, I get it. But sometimes, there’s shit that isn’t appropriate for them because even if you aren’t influenced and don’t care, people are influenced and do care.

I’m sick of HEARING about celebs since they are normal people and not God(dess)s or Hero(ine)’s
I’m glad the whole Gosselin thing settle down a lot so sick of that too let the kid live their lives and try to recover all the hurt that happened.

Honestly, (and this may sound bad XD) the outfit Noah is wearing in the picture looks like dress-up clothes to me. Something I would put my two year old niece in to play around the house. Not necessarily to wear in public, but at the same time, its not unheard of for a lil girl Noah’s age to be wearing.

guest
I’m not sure wtf is wrong with this clothing line, to be honest.
Doesn’t look any different than the shit we wore when I was a kid 20 years ago.
guest
that shouldn’t be the norm. little children who are nine or ten years old should not look like pornstars. look at the picture you posted.
if i was a mother, i would NEVER let my child dress like that. ever.
TV celebrities don’t have to be “prude goody-two shoes” but look at all the young minds watching their shows/movies. they should at least be setting the standard, and the fact that a ten year old is wearing fishnet stockings and a maids outift is not the standard.
celebrities don’t have to be wearing long sleeved, to the floor gowns. they should at least be classy.
guest
you just lined up Noah next to Miley and Taylor and called them all teenagers. 10 is not a teenager for me!!!
guest
@Meowmeowkimmaee@xanga - The line doesn’t actually sell fishnets.

@diannisforever@xanga - ”whether they choose to be a role model is
not their choice at all, being a celebrity, a star of the most popular
kids show right now automatically warrants it,” <– Very well said!
People who make the argument that “they’re just kids – let them live” aren’t stopping to think that the payoff for fame is that you have to uphold a certain image because kids automatically look up to you.
Hell, just look at the simple “pregnancy pact” all stemming from Britney’s younger sister!
And if you say you don’t follow them (neither do I) but it seems as if you do put a lot of energy into “defending” them
. I couldn’t care less. Nothing they do will surprise me anymore. Look at the role models they themselves (the young celebrities) have: Britney, Britney’s sister, Miley, Lindsay, heck, even Lady Gaga! They’re given the impression that in order to get attention, you need to be totally out there/psycho and of course, wear revealing clothing. And the numerous other crap that those girls mentioned above do.
magnolia / 1354 posts
I’m iffy about this matter. I mean, it’s not up to them to choose to be role models or not, it comes with being a celebrity. I just don’t like the fact that people thrive on finding the smallest things to tear a person down…

I skimmed through that blog as well as this…interesting points, but…honestly, I dont care. My opinion of your comment:
“Now, I don’t know about anyone else, but I’m tired of adults bashing
young celebrities like Noah, Miley, and Taylor Momsen. From what I can
see, they’re no different than an other teenager, besides the fact
they’re on TV! I didn’t know the criteria for being on television is

Kids these days are growing up way too fast. Media encourages these kids. What do you think 10 year olds think when they see Hannah Montana with a skirt and leggings, etc? They want to copy her. Monkey see, monkey do. And YOU might be a responsible young adult to think you have your own opinion and can make your own decision, but there are kids out there that have no guidance except these teen celebrities.
These kids are just teens, true. It must be hard for them to deal with the fame – however, that’s their choice. That’s their dream. With that must come responsibilities to their fans and to society to not guide immature teens in a bad direction. No one knows who I am. I don’t have the power to influence masses of people. Miley, Noah and all other teen celebs have that power to influence kids, teens into doing good or bad based on following the footsteps.
So the criteria to be on TV is to know your “power” and influence and being responsible with it. They need to be careful with their actions. They are capable of molding the young minds of your generation.

I don’t care but since you guys conveniently bring it up for me to obsess over….

Celebrities are responsible for portraying a certain image. If you are a child celebrity, and say, work for Disney, you have a responsibility to them (and the young fans) to be a good role model. It’s part of the job.
guest
Whether or not it is technically called “lingerie”…the outfits I see on those girls in the picture above look like hooker outfits. If you’re cool with your kids being eye candy for pedophiles, I think you’re an irresponsible parent.
It’s incredibly sad that anyone would be trying to market clothes like this to little kids.
guest
…so if it’s not lingerie, why is it called lingerie? :S
guest
@Meowmeowkimmaee@xanga - yeah… I wouldnt give my future daughter fishnets to wear.
Although lace on little girls dresses are very adorable.
guest
i agree with you
but uhh… miley is well over seventeen nowjust like how noah is ten :]
guest
To some extent, I would agree. However, the optimistic side of me wants to beg that we strive to develop some culture to help everyone understand, celebrity or not, the importance of setting good examples. It breaks my heart more than anything to know that many people in such influential positions in society don’t use their enormous power to effect positive change. Or even abuse their power…
Many of these people CAN be and actually ARE world changers. They say one thing and the media circulates it immediately! One great idea for positive change can be popularized SO rapidly! Imagine how many children would be able to drink clean water for a month, or have a pair of shoes…if celebrities jumped on board to support and promote social justice campaigns like that. Conversely, one piece of negative publicity can be equally detrimental.
I agree with the author that perhaps I personally wouldn’t be able to handle the pressure of celebrity status. But then again, I do believe we are all responsible for demonstrating compassion and good will.
Let’s try to have some hope for us youth–it’s a very unfortunate fact that we classify acting poorly as ‘normal teenage behavior.’ Maybe some of us can not succumb to the dread that seems to consume our idea for a brighter future.

Thank you, I’m glad that others are starting to see that adults bashing on young celebrities, especially ones as young as the examples above, is really sad and really petty. This is the second or third post that I’ve seen that mentioned this. I’m also sick of hearing about the newest slutty thing the Cyrus sisters are doing, when it just turns out to be something else every other kid their ages tend to be doing. Ten-year-olds play dress-up. Sixteen-year-olds wear skimpy clothing. These things were happening before the Cyrus sisters got anywhere near famous for ANYthing, and they will continue to happen no matter what the Cyrus sisters do or don’t do, wear or don’t wear. Lets not look to celebrities to fix bad parenting. Especially, when they did not start the trends in the first place, nor will it make a difference if they follow in the trends or not when it comes to what their young fans will wear.
Also, just from the pictures that were given in the media about this “lingerie” line, you can easily see that its not lingerie and its not inappropriate. I think people get all bent out of shape no matter what the Cyrus sisters do or wear, because of Miley’s bad reputation among adults. They could start walking around in ultra conservative clothing and people would find a way to bash that, too. Its inevitable. And, its tedious and tired.
guest
I think it’s important to get our facts straight first before posting a post that will go to thousands of readers. This happened similarly before with the whole “Asia’s new trend: miniature versions of their wives for wedding pictures” whatever it was called. Editors should be doing some more checking up on things before they give it the okay too.
guest
You’re so right! :]

@diannisforever@xanga - @MoonFaeEyryan@xanga - Agree with both of y’all! If they wanted stardom, then they can have the responsibility that comes with it. There are quite a few teenagers in Hollywood but they don’t do stupid things under the spotlight. I think that goes to show that being young and staying in line at least where the media is concerned is something that can be done.
guest
@MoonFaeEyryan@xanga - What do you define as stupid? I’m sure you’ve made some stupid mistakes in your life when you were younger. I suppose there wasn’t an excuse for that either, right?
guest
I totally agree with you that people should stop bashing teenagers for acting like teenagers. There were many, many girls in my CHURCH youth group, most of whom were closer to 14 than 17, who dressed even less modestly than Miley Cyrus. No one called them horrible role models, and a church youth group is a more likely place to get role models than the television.
And what kind of role models are we being if we teach our younger siblings that it’s cool to hate Miley Cyrus & the Jonas Brothers, just because WE don’t like their music/looks?

dear god please don’t reply to me with bullshit. I am just saying that girls who dress like whores usually get the most attention, correct?
Once they have the attention they keep dressing like that because it gives them what they want, they could give 2 flying fucks about what shows and what could pop out and what not. As long as they get what they want.
Isn’t it sad that life revolves around what you want and how you can get it, regardless of everyone else? Now its acceptable in society for people to use people but only if they are using to get what they want.
Its fucking disgusting and to all the girls that dress like whores, your time will come

ah one more thing, anyone ever thought about what these girls are going to become when they are miley’s age?
If there what 10? now and are already launching a “lingerie” line?
how much whore-e-er can they get in 5 years?
guest
@fortune121@xanga - while I agree that people should not dress like sluts, I’m just saying that hating them will not help anything. And many girls dress like that out of ignorance–like you said, they want to get attention, and that is what they see around them that gets people attention. They’ll get what’s coming to them naturally–nothing good comes of dressing like a whore.
By the way, it’s not actually a lingerie line. I don’t know who called it that.
