Being raised in a fashion conscience family, I can easily say that this trend is not only ridiculous, it’s impractical. What’s the difference between your bare legs and wearing tights except the spandex? 

I also know that in the current fashion world, this is simply “out”

I think it can be done right, but there’s so many ways to do it wrong.

I like black tights paired with dress shorts, more then denim shorts.

i think it looks cute. more with dressy shorts though, if you pair light denim with dark black it looks a bit off. but a pair or dress shorts in a deep blue or something paired with dark tights looks cute.

my guy friends tell me that it’s the in between option for shorts and pants and girls should decided between one or the other because both looks stupid (their words, not mine)

I’ve never done it, but I love the look as long as they’re black pantyhose with nice shorts, neither being ripped or frayed.

i personally love this look. I myself can’t pull it off but my sister can. but depending if the guy has a sense of fashion he will love it. my sisters boyfriend loves the way my sister works it but my ex thinks its a stupid concept.

I love this style and rock it regularly. There’s an obvious visual difference between tights under shorts just wearing plain pants, and when was fashion ever practical, anyway?

However, my boyfriend thinks this combination is ridiculous and recommends that I just put on some jeans whenever he finds me in it.

I like this look ONLY with black, opaque tights. If you use any other colour of tights or if they’re slightly transparent, it just doesn’t look right.

I think this is a cute look, especially for fall. Its not a summer look obviously Legs must be shown in the summer! I like this look when paired with heels, not flats. Its chic and its NOT out of style >.> I would consider myself very fashion savy and I have seen this look A LOT.

i like it but, i think you need long legs to pull it off well, unless the shorts and tights are similar color, its going to make your legs look fucked up.

I like how it looks with the ultra sheer tights…like the girl has on with the sunflower. I also like the one above it, with the fishnet type of tights….but I agree I think it depends on how you wear them.

Plus I noticed in the comments section that this apparent style is “out”. That in my opinion is the best time to do something different with it.  It’s not like anyone is going to care, after all, it’s just fashion.

I think it looks good if done right, and would make me feel less exposed as I’m not very comfortable in shorts, but I just don’t dress well enough to pull it off. Jeans it is, for me anyway!

this is my afternoon-class and walk-through-boston look (when it’s not a total klondike bar outside)….i love it with faded or ripped denim and colored tights…maybe converse or casual boots. 

but then again, i do this for comfort mixed with style, and i’m not a guy. =]

I personally rather wear tights with shorts because a) a different color or pattern can change the whole look of the outfit 
b) its more moderate than just shorts alone

No, I think that “look” a little trashy.  If you want to show off your legs there’s better ways to dress and still get that cute factor.

I love it! Totally my style. I wear that all the time, because I’m in love with my shorts but unfortunately it’s too cold to wear them in the winter. Without the tights, that is.

I’m a guy and I think it is soooo cute. especially with a long t-shirt included. it’s adorable. yessssss.

I like the style, but like many have said, there’s a right way to wear it and a wrong way. I personally think it looks good ONLY with dress shorts. The only form of denim it will look decent with is a white denim skirt, not shorts. Also, any colored tights (i.e. other than black) don’t look good. In order to pull this look off, it has to look clean cut and sophisticated, not trashy.

I think it looks like trailer trash.

It kind of looks like what happens when girls wear something they would normally wear to the club, then cover it with something else because it’s cold outside. Doesn’t look like too much thought went into it.

It looks cute on the right girl, I have seen several poor examples of how this look can be extremely unflattering on the wrong body type and with the wrong pattern/color of tights.

I think that it’s cute,but only some people can wear this trend. You can wear shorts even if you don’t have great legs,but for some reason,I feel like this will highlight your legs even more. Personally,I won’t be able to wear it because it’ll make me look short and chubby >.<

I think it’s cute.  How does it really differ from a short skirt, except that well, it’s shorts? I guess it would totally depend on the length of the shorts – I wouldn’t wear tights with shorts that are near-capris, but short shorts? Of course!

@Aaliyaan@xanga - Actually, tights tend to keep your legs just as warm jeans do when in cold and wind, sometimes warmer.  Jeans can get drafty – tights do not.

the tights with jean shorts look is a little redundant.  what’s the point of it? i’ll pair black tights (or leggings) with a pair of dress shorts, long or short. maybe some boots. but i really don’t get why you’d wear tights with jean shorts, which are a summer item.  whether or not guys like them…who cares? they usually have bad fashion sense themselves, and as far as i know, they’d rather just see you in a tshirt and jeans.  styles like this are usually worn by girls, for girls, to show that they have some kind of fashion sense.  

Its okay. I always thought that it was something women did more for function than fashion… like to keep their legs warm.

I am a legs guy, so I tend to prefer when a girl shows off that she has nice legs – not just shape, but also the smoothness, shine, and color that all indicates she is healthy and beautiful. That doesn’t really come across if the legs are covered up, but whatever.

its been really big in japan [where i'm currently at] for the last two winters. i echo the only with dress shorts sentiment. and its nice when its too cold to go bare legged but you still wanna show off your gams especially since shorts can get you that edginess that skirts usually don’t have…

It’s an asian thing. The lace footies that you wear with nice shoes, the tights/thigh-high stockings that you wear with shorts- ALL this shit is coming from asia and has already been done by them for years and years and years. Get over it. It’s nothing new or exciting. Either that, or get out more.

This look isn’t new at all. Asian international students have been wearing this style for years.
I personally like it, though I haven’t tried it.

It only looks good with the ripped tights.  With the tights intact, it’s too much of a clash of styles.

I think this is an awesome look. It isn’t new, though, and for me its quite nostalgic. People still, like with any fashion trend, manage to botch it and make it look ridiculous. But, if done right (which isn’t hard, really), then it actually looks very nice. Its also a look that little sis can wear to feel more grown up like big sis, without looking ridiculous or like she’s growing up too fast. :p

Although, I really never cared if guys liked the look or not. I don’t really choose my outfits based on whether or not a guy might or might not think I look good in them. I choose them based on whether or not I like them, whether or not they’re comfortable, and whether or not they’re appropriate for where I am going and what I will be doing that day. If a guy doesn’t like something I wear, that’s his problem, and if a guy is going to be put off because I decided to wear tights with shorts, then I don’t want his attention anyway. To me, that is the height of shallow.

I think it can be really cute most of the time. But I don’t have to be a man to know that they probably don’t like this too much. Men like to see legs, end of story.

man, i’ve been wearing this for ages, and never knew it was such a big fashion thing. i wear it because i love the way it looks, but also because i’m self-conscious about my legs, considering they’re covered in a lot of scars that just wont go away, and i can’t get away with wearing jeans in summer.
i don’t see the problem with it, and nor do any of my guy friends.

My boyfriend is rather protective of my body because he knows other guys look, and he loves that i wear something like this, even fishnets under my tights work. It does still show off your legs, but you don’t have such a mass part of skin showing, so it’s more conservative. If you have a pair of short shorts, i think wearing leggings or tights underneath makes it look so much better, it looks classier than just walking around in a pair of daisy dukes.

its ridiculous choosing your style to incomperate it to a guy’s opinion. it wont be based on a fashion sense but a guy’s sense, and pretty much they will say it looks ridiculous due to the fact that its a tease for them covering up your legs under short shorts. because hell, we all know that if naked was the style, guys would love it.

i totally dig this trend. i wear it during the winter and fall season. but as soon as summer comes along, show the legs instead.

It ‘s brilliant! The denim shorts look very casual and the opaque tights very sexy, the combination is so fashionable. When I see a girl wearing shorts and tights I think that she must be active, she can move around without caring about how her skirt shows and at the same time she wants to be sexy and feminine. Thumbs up girls, the more I see of you the more I like it:)

I like shorts and tights/ pantyhose for going out on walks. yes I could just wear pants, but with shorts and tights, depending on how long or when I go out I can add or subtract a layer to cool down or warm up. plus I think it is cute if worn casual. 

I did this CONSTANTLY in the winter time because it’s a good way to show off boots and it kept me warm. During the summer, though, it looks like a little too much.

I like it and wear it, and my guy went crazy for it. But he wasn’t really thinking fashion, he just thought my legs looked sexy.

Lovely look. Not keen with Opaque tights much prefer 15 denier tights. Think it looks sexy when the re-enforced panty part is slightly seen.

Also I wear them as well. Get the odd strange look but nothing else!

I’m a guy. I love it when girls wear them. I think they look really good with tights from how they should off their legs and make them look taller. I personally like really short denim shorts on top the most. My crush used to wear them once and I thought she looked amazing.
