I’ve honestly never really thought about it.  My nickname is easier to say, but that doesn’t mean I prefer it over my given name.  Shrug

the only nickname i’ve ever had is Arsecrack aaha but noone calls me a nickname.

Most people call me Jessica, but my friends usually call me Jess. The one thing I can’t stand is Jessie! Ick.

When I moved to the US, no one could say my real name, so my parents gave me a nickname.  I’ve been called by that nickname since age 5 and when I was 16, I got my real name legally changed to my nickname.

The only people who call me by my real name is work, school, and one of my grandparents. I’ve gone by my nickname through grade school, I stopped in college due to just not having the teachers long enough to make a difference. My parents have always called me by my nickname except when in trouble. My brother is 4 years older and when I was born had trouble saying my name so he gave me my nickname and it stuck ever since. so nickname!

People try ALL THE TIME to give me a nickname. It’s kind of frustrating because for a long time I didn’t like my name, but now I love it. I used to hate that it wasn’t like everyone else’s names, but now I love it for the same reason That said… people at work call me Martina/Tina. So yeah, they’ve re-named me and given my new name a nickname, lol. They must love me? haha

My grandma started my nickname being Kiki. So most of my family calls me that. My friends used to call me by my first name but now freely switch back and forth. My bf is the only  person nowadays outside of work that calls me by my first name. I personally like being called CC or Jade, almost no one IRL does but ppl online do.

I was a, “PJ,” six months before I was born [4th child in the family, Family Circus reference], but for some reason I just hate the name, “Philip.” I mean, I do like my middle name where the J comes from, “Jospeh,” but couldn’t I have had a super AWESOME name like, “Patrick James?”

My name’s Andrea and people usually just call me that, but some of my friends call me Andi…no one calls me by my middle name Christina though lol

Hmm I think it really depends on the person trying to get my attention on whether or not i prefer my real name or my nickname. When it comes to my family they almost never call me by my name unless im in trouble and they say my ful name.

I think it depends on how close to a person I am. But most people like calling me by a nickname, which I don’t mind. I love my name, but I think nicknames give a sense of closeness. =)

My name is Elizabeth.  Unfortunately, it’s a long name, and people tend to turn it into Liz no matter how often I tell them my preference =)

My nicknames come from specific people. Everyone else just calls me Michal. I’m Miss Mic (pronounced “miss mike”) to my grandma, Mikki to my best friend, Duchess to my OTHER best friend, lol, and Mygook to my mom. (Don’t ask…she’s a dork.) The only name I detest is when ignorant people try to call me Mike.

I like my real name & my nickname. Both are fairly unique. However, my nickname is personal, so only friends & family call me that. I tell others to call me by my legal name but I often introduce myself with my nickname.

I love my first name (Marica, pronounced Marissa here in the states) so I go by that. I don’t really have nicknames, but at home my family will sometimes call me by Croatian nickname-forms of my name.

my nicknames, for some reason i just don’t really like being called Vanessa. i go by yashi ( not even my asian friend can pronounce it .. so they call me yoshi .. )

I’m fine with either Stefanie or Steanie.  Almost everyone I know (of importance) calls me Steanie, though, and that’s the name I identify with more.  I do not really like to be called Stef.

Nickname. My real name is Julie. I think it’s funny that guys from other countries think that it sounds pretty and I always tell them that it’s so common and doesn’t match me at all. lol.

One of my close friends calls me “Jobin” like the guy from “I Love You Man”. It has a nice sentiment to it because that movie perfectly describes our relationship. lol.

Since practically everyone, other than those who are Japanese, can’t say my real name, Keito, I just tell everyone my name is Kate.

i have a TON of nicknames-all with a different story behind them. michelin, micalumms, loce, boo boo, fireball, silent destroyer, punkin butt, lobster legs, tipiyon, mikey…the list goes on. my favorite (currently) is silent destroyer because it makes me giggle when i’m running during track and xc meets, which relaxes me.

My name is Amelia and I usually introduce myself as such because I love that it’s not super-common and I think it’s a beautiful name. But all of my friends call me Mia and when I meet new people, they introduce me as such, so sometimes new friends don’t even know my real name, lol. I love both of them in different ways. Mia just has a different meaning it… For instance, I only told certain teachers in high school that it was my nickname, and consequently, my favorite teacher ended up calling me Mia instead of Amelia all the time. And I used Amelia as my publishing name.

My name is Madison and I’ve always hated to be called Madi. When I was about 5 my best friend started callin me Matt and it just stuck. I love it, but I also love Madison, too.

My first name is Anita but since I was about 14, i’ve been called Nitsy or Nits and it has stuck. Anita is one of those names that no one ever remembers EVER so I prefer just Nits. Also Chinese people cannot seem to pronounce Anita properly (doesn’t really flow properly with the way Cantonese is spoken)  and so when they speak to me in Cantonese, they use my Chinese name, which is Yee Ling!

I dislike being addressed by my full name (Rebecca), except by adults and people in a higher position, I much prefer Bec, Becki or Becka Although my parents sometimes call me Miss Maureen, because Maureen is my middle name.

I prefer my real name.  Everyone always comments how they love the name “Ryan” for a girl.  Sometimes my mom and some of my friends will call me “Ry” and I don’t mind it, but I prefer Ryan.  People that know my middle name assume I go by my middle name (Renee) because of my first name.  I don’t like that.
