I normally use Tampax Pearl, but sometimes they feel a little uncomfortable. I use the smallest size, too! What brand do you use, and are they comfortable?

I think I’m the only person in the world who still uses Tampax Cardboard, but I love it and I’ll never switch <3

tampax pearl is the only kind I’ll use.
or instead softcups, but those aren’t tampons.
guest
I am a dedicated buyer of tampax pearl. It totally throws me off if I have to use something different.
guest
playtex sport.
guest
O.B.
It’s environmentally friendly, very cheap, and I feel like you have more control over where it goes since it’s got no applicator… but I think that is the part that turns most people off of it.
guest
Oh god, I can’t stand Tampax. I feel like it’s ripping my vagina up.
If I use tampons, I use Playtex, or Playtex Sport, but I’ve really been relying on the Mooncup.

Tampax pearl!
Slides in easy and their variety pack is just what I need!
Playtex sport is a giant lie!
That shit leaks through HELLA fast.
Well I just have a heavy flow so I need heavy duty stuff.
guest
i just use whatever’s available, usually… the brand i usually use is tampax, and i usually buy the cardboard applicator ones because they’re cheaper, i don’t really see how it’s less comfortable, and cardboard decomposes faster than plastic
guest
I used playtex for years, but have recently switched over to tampax pearl. I find that the tampax ones don’t leak as much as the playtex ones do. Also, I feel that the way tampax tampons are shaped fit my vagina better than playtex.
guest
I found that tampax pearls absorbed the best…But they are really pricey and Im not abt to spend that much every month for some things that go up my vagina. I buy generic ones from target that “compare” and theyre just as good.
I will only use plastic, cardboard if I reallllyyy really have to. inserting the cardboard is really uncomfortable unless I am on a heavy day.
I used to only use reg because I was too afraid of going up…And then my flow just got too much to be changing them every 2 hrs. lol so I went to supers and now thats ALL I use…
three days and IM DONE!
guest
i prefer OB too, but they don’t have then where i live, so whenever i’m in Germany, i STOCK UP
i’m dreading the day that the cute customs man decide to inspect my suitcase!
guest
playtex sport
that’s what i use at least.
sunflower / 284 posts
@msem724@xanga - Heh, I use tampax cardboard too. It makes me feel slightly less bad, since at least cardboard is biodegradable. I’ve been thinking about switching to one of those divacup type things though.
guest
I usually go between Playtex sport and Tampax Pearl. I can’t really decide. What I do know is that I hate cardboard applicators, they are just not comfortable for me.
guest
@sweetsweetsugarjunkie@xanga - @julydoll@xangaDid you know that here in Germany we only have tampons without applicators? I think applicators are kinda gross
guest
@msem724@xanga - I use them too. More environmentally friendly since cardboard breaks down better and faster than plastic.
guest
I stick with Kotex Super Heavy Flow hahaha
I have got the heaviest period in the world and these are the only kind that work for me, when I’m lighter I go with Tampax Sport. The words on the wrapper are just too cute :]
daisy / 613 posts
@sweetsweetsugarjunkie@xanga - @julydoll@xanga -
whoa.
how would you be able to stick a tampon in without the applicator…? Just curious. I can’t really imagine.
guest
O.B.
Most other brands, even in the smallest size, were always uncomfortable. O.B. works best and it works great.
guest
Don’t wear them. And I am not a virgin, I am just a little scared.
guest
I’m also a faithful Tampax Pearl user. One time I mistakenly bought the cardboard Tampax tampons, and I seriously regretted it afterward. Now I check to make sure I’m getting the right tampons.
guest
Playtex sport, which I LOVE!

Playtex sport!
and i hate cardboard applicators, and the ones with no applicators.

tampax pearl… playtex brags about being able to expand in 360 degrees but that shit expands into a huge fucking baby that ends up hurting like crazyyy to take out.
guest
I love platex, soooo much better then tampax IMO because tampax had 2 layers that open like a cross folded in, were as playtex is pretty much like a flower not an uncomfortable + (just much better in my opinion and less bulky
the + is too bulky
guest
@Ana - How do you do it, its like cotton against a wet soft inside, you cant get it in, it’s painful and is a huge struggle!
guest
I only use Tampax Pearl unless I’m completely out…then I use what ever I can. But I love Tampax Pearl!
guest
@msem724@xanga - I use the cardboard tampax too. They’re wonderful.
guest
I only use tampax pearl, it’s the most comfortable for me

The menstrual cup, hands down. c:
guest
When I used tampons, O.B., but now I’m using the Diva Cup.
guest
Most of the time I’ll stay away from tampons because all of them are uncomfortable to me. I’ll use pads unless I’m going somewhere where I’ll be in contact with water, or a pool. (The beach, a party, vacation, water park…) Tampons cause a lot of problems if you don’t use them right, and my period only really lasts for 2 days, and then for the last 3 days I normally only use 1 pad a day because there’s barely anything coming out anymore. If I absolutely have to use a tampon, I would rather it be Tampax Pearl, although I can use just aout anything because no matter what I’m always uncomfortable with some cotton thing stuffed in my hoo-ha.

I tried Playtex Sport once and I didn’t like the way it fit into my vayjayjay. I had the horrible experience of using cardboard. I use Tampax Compak Pearl. I can freak out all my guy friends and tell them it’s candy = D
guest
I use anything with a plastic applicator. I can’t use cardboard ones… they hurt way too much.
guest
I prefer Playtex or Playtex Sport. However, I also don’t mind using Kotex tampons either–I think they actually absorb longer.
orchid / 104 posts
Am I the only one that hates tampons? I’ve used them but hate them so much. They hurt so bad when taking them out. I’ll only use them at night (Tampax pearl) because those don’t leak. I haven’t found a good pad that doesn’t leak at night.
guest
wear a mother fucking diaper
guest
@Broken_Black_Moon@xanga - me too! doesn’t matter how many times i’ve tried tampons, i can still feel them, and they always feel like they are falling out!
i use pads because of that and my flow varies too much and i can keep “track of it” better.
guest
i swear. swear. SWEAR by playtex sport. i’ve tried out practically every tampon possible and this is the most comfortable to insert, wear and take out – really don’t feel it at all.
the only thing is that they do need to be changed just a little more frequently than other tampons in comparison. so its comfort versus durability.i choose comfort – not a problem changing them a little more frequently.
guest
playtex sport.
guest
my favorite brand of tampons is the tampax pearls or the compact. it’s super comfortable and fairly inexpensive.
sunflower / 323 posts
o.b , i’ve tried other ones but honestly their all uncomfortable. i only use tampons when i REALLY have too .
guest
@msem724@xanga - I use cardboard. I use store brand cardboard tampons or tampax. I contemplated for years switching to the diva cup. I’m still debating.
guest
I wear tampons occasionally, and the best advice I can give is to NOT use organic tampons. They leak and are unreliable.
guest
@insert_label_here_003@xanga - I used to use the Tampax compak. Those were great. They could fit in your pocket!
guest
@oscarthegrouch108@xanga - Amen, sister. Glad I’m not alone. =]
xX Ame ~*~ Hana Xx
guest
@merquryd@xanga - I know! That’s why I loved them. It made it so easier just to have a few in my pocket during that time of month without everyone staring at my huge tampon.
guest
Playtex sport!
guest
i use tampax pearl compak. they’re half the size of a regular tampon so it’s easy to take them places. i hate the ones pictured above.
guest
@wishtoremainunknown@xanga - Always Infiniti pads are great for night time!
guest
@msem724@xanga - i use cardboard applicators, too. i find that when i attempt to use the plastic ones, they sometimes slip out of my hands mid-applying, and fall into the toilet more often. but that’s probably my fault and too much information.
cardboard applicators. multi-pack. tampax, generally – though i’ll sometimes get some knock-off.
orchid / 220 posts
Playtex. The only uncomfortable experience I’ve had with tampons is from my “I’m stuck at work and just started” emergency cardboard tampons. They are AWFUL.

Playtex Sport.
guest
I like Tampax pearl the best.
guest
@Tiffanyy_Co@xanga - I don’t know exactly how an applicator works, but digital tampons are not very soft. And if you are wet it slides in even better. I only started using tampons after losing my virginity…before that it was painful
guest
@Tiffanyy_Co@xanga - I just looked up tampons with applicators on wikipedia
It does seem like that they are softer than a digital tampon.
guest
the pearls absorb better and it never leaks on me unless its time for a change. i used playtex before and i would get leaks even if the tampon was barely soaked.
guest
@msem724@xanga - me too! lol

playtex sport<3
guest
@Imnotcrazyjustinsane@xanga – they come with a little twist-cellophane wrapper, you take off the bottom part, give the cord a little tug to give space for your fingertip, then just slowly insert it until there’s resistance
I find them actually more comfortable to put in – [TMI alert!!:] applicators are too long for the *ehhemm* curvature of my vagina, they end up pinching… NOT GOOD!
guest
I’ve never inserted anything up my vagina, so I’m a tampon virgin. I took one from my cousin, and its a sports tampon.
I don’t know when to try it out. It scares me. I’m afraid I might push it in too far.. or break/tear something up there.. haha
guest
I can’t use them >.<

guest
Playtext sport! The words on the package are wayyy to cute to pass up. And I can’t stand cardboard applicators.
guest
Kroger/Target brand!
guest
@msem724@xanga - oh! you’re not the only one left! i bought a box of 100 of them when i moved into my dorm. everyone laughed at me, but they’re great. the pearls and sports are just weird…they don’t absorb as much.
yay cardboard
guest
Playtex Plastic all the way. I know cardboard is better for the planet, but it hurts me =p and tampax cardboard is horrible, I have to change it every 2 hours.
guest
I used to use Playtex Sport and Playtex Comfort Glide, and I have also used Tampax and Tampax Pearl. I like Tampax Pearl the best, i like the leakguard stuff and it works better than Platytex for me.
guest
@BlehhItsTu@xanga - I used to feel the same way. It technically could never get lost anywhere, but it could get stuck, but there’s always things to do to prevent that. Using tampons are a lot easier than you would think, and i’m glad I use them now instead of pads, which i’ve always hated. anyway, whenever you decide to try, it’s very comfortable. just lightly pull on the string before you put it in to make sure it’s stable and never put it in too far to the point where you can’t see the string. do both of those things, you’ll be set.
(btw, sorry to sound all counselor here, just want to help)..btw, plastic is better for your first time.
go for it : )
guest
@makesenseofmadness@xanga - Thanks for clarifying the usage of a tampon. I’m glad you actually decided to explain the process for me. Lol. But how can you tell when the tampon is “stable?”
guest
@BlehhItsTu@xanga - sorry if that explanation was a little embarrassing/awkward…but no one really talked to me about tampons. What I mean by stable is just making sure the tampon isn’t damaged, and the part that’s more likely to be damaged is the string. Maybe it may not be properly secured in the tampon so if you pull it, it may fall out without the tampon. However, that hasn’t happened to me, but it’s better to just check the tampon before using it.

I love Platex Sport or if you can deal with not having an applicator OB ones are awesome (more green since there is no plastic) and you can position them perfectly inside of you. But yeah tampax sucks because they open sideways and the other kids open circular.
orchid / 204 posts
@CombinedEffort@xanga - omg ive been wanting to try those softcups are they that good?
daisy / 630 posts
@ellebelle - not really. I only use them when I have nothing else. You have to put them in perfectly, but you can keep them in all day. Taking them out is really messy though.
guest
@Imnotcrazyjustinsane@xanga - You just use your fingers. It’s really simple. My mom used OB so it was the only tampons we had. They were the first thing I used when I got my period, so I’ve used them ever since.
OB is by far my favorite brand. I’ve borrowed other brands (Playtex, Tampax, Kotex etc.) from other people. The actual tampon seems so cheaply made. It unravels in, like, two seconds and is nowhere near as absorbent as OB. OB has far less leaks and stuff. I’m 100% for OB. You can get them with applicators if you’re one of those people that thinks touching your own vagina is some kind of disgusting sin.
daisy / 613 posts
@themeaningofperfect@xanga - Haha, I’m not one of those people, I just don’t know how I’d get something soft and flexible up in my vagina. My vagina and I get along pretty well, actually.

O.B. Ultra plus was the best. Now it’s discontinued.
P.S. They are super easy to insert, just read the instrucitons.
I will go back to the cup. (Or have a hysterectomy)
peony / 1 posts
“U” by Kotex, in the little black box, work really well. If you’re at school or a restaurant, they’re smaller & easier to carry in your hand on the way to the washroom. The packaging looks less “feminine hygiene” which is important when you have to keep them in a cupboard that you share with males. And they also have a variety pack of sizes. Try them, you’ll like them.
lily / 5148 posts
Tampax pearl that is compact size. I quite like that.
guest
@msem724@xanga - Ugh. I’m so spoiled by the plastic ones and I accidently bought the cardboard ones on campus because those were the only ones. They were so uncomfortable
daisy / 505 posts
Without a doubt in the world, OB. Nothing is less prone to leaks. I’ve been using them since I was 12 without fail. Whenever I have to use anything else, I cringe.

I think that women that have a lighter flow can use just about anything–at least that’s how it was when I was 11-19. As long as I had the correct absorbancy, I could even use the dollar store brand if I was desperate, but now that my flow is super HEAVY, I need Tampax, the super absorbancy, and I still burn through those in like 3 hours
All the other crap does not work for me.
peony / 1 posts
i love tampax pearl the only one i can use. i ahve tried every brand type and this is the best. all the other ones il put them in and a hour later im soaking through so il pull it ou and there like no blood on the tampon only the bottom and the string. so they dont expand with your body to absorb the blood. with tampax pearl is expands and never leak. the best and i love the smell of the fresh scent. it makes you smell good down there instead of old blood
guest
i dont care what brand just as long as it has a plastic applicator.
