I live in the freezing Northeast, where winter means bulky parkas, thick scarves and gloves that make my hands resemble a Muppet. The problem is, I still want to look like a girl, not the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man!
Do any of you have ideas for how I can still look girly and cute in the winter without freezing my butt off? Give your advice at Lovelyish Advice here…

Yes… wear those sweaters with belts to create an illusion of a smaller waistline and those pastel parkas!

doesnt matter what you wear. if you look feminine you look feminine. I suggest you play up your face like dark eyes and a nice nude lip and some decent functional heels. It’ll make YOU show through your clothing

@mashroob@xanga - Agreed.

@mashroob@xanga - I also agree. If you’re not wearing menswear and sporting a really short, masculine haircut, you probably won’t have a problem.

Imho, its how you carry yourself, not what you wear that makes you one thing or another.

Buy a long wool coat that is streamlined instead of a bulky parka. Wear cashmere gloves, they tend to be thinner but just as warm because of the material and also a wool/cashmere scarf instead of the ones made of cotton or other fabrics which don’t insulate heat as well.

@ShimmerBodyCream@xanga - there aren’t really good WARM trenchies though.
wear feminine colors and structured jackets and make sure your jeans fit well. also, cute hats! winter air is bad for hair; one cute hat takes care of that!

I just sacrifice comfort for fashion.

ROFL @ the answers. I don’t ever feel I look masculine in winter clothes because I buy clothes for women and avoid unisex styles.

Sweater dresses over sweaters and jeans/tights. Boots of whatever style you like. Knee-high or thigh-high socks. Leg warmers and arm warmers. Gloves/mittens/elbow gloves. Caps/beanies/those flapper hats [not sure of the technical name]. Scarves, cowl neck turtlenecks, earmuffs.
