Women are more likely to remember their first pair of shoes than their first kiss.
According to a British study, 92% of women could remember the first pair of shoes they bought with their own money, but less than 2/3 could name the first guy they kissed.
In an even funnier statistic,
96% of women said they regretted throwing out a pair of shoes, but only 15% said that had ever regretted dumping a guy.
Do these stats seem weird to you, Lovelies?? I mean, I honestly don’t remember the first pair of shoes I ever bought (maybe because I shop A LOT ), but I remember my first kiss–and who it was with!–very vividly.
Check out the article for more statistics, but do you agree? Can you remember your first shoes more than your first kiss?

Well, I haven’t bought a pair of shoes with my own money yet. My money and my parents’ money kind of blend together. I spend their money, and any money I make, I give to them.
But I do remember the first guy I’ve kissed! Every time I kiss someone new, I force myself to remember the names of all the guys I’ve ever kissed so I don’t forget.

uhm i disagree. i could not tell you what shoes i bought.
kissing is def better.
guest
I DO remember the first guy I bought with my own money. And then I regretted throwing him out.
nah shoes and boys are equally important so far..
guest
I remember both
. Loved those shoes ~sighs fondly~
guest
I do remember my first pair of shoes… a sex red heel.. still have them! First boy I kissed? No idea lol
guest
What????? This is madness!! Come on, I like shoes well enough, but I don’t even remember what the last pair I bought was let alone the first, but I remember everyone I’ve ever kissed (I think……)
I don’t buy a whole lot of shoes, but I do buy a few every once in a while. It’s not a big deal to me. To think some girls remember shoes over boys… that’s absolutely insane!!
guest
LOLOL. actually i couldn’t remember the first shoe i bought myself, but i can remember the first kiss.

definitely disagree with this post.

Whaa? I don’t believe this study is true!
If it is, it sure says a lot about our society…rampant materialism and meaningless relationships. :[
guest
this is the saddest thing i have ever read in my life.
and i am glad to say that i am not one of those women that prefer shoes over kisses.
guest
i don’t remember my first pair of shoes or the first boy i kissed but i do love shoes and when my bf makes me upset, shoes will always makes me happy.

Which kind of ladies were they surveying? Seriously…I can remember the name of the guy I first kissed AND the first pair of shoes I bought and, honestly, the kiss was better.
sunflower / 391 posts
I’ve bought tons of shoes…? I didnt really think it was a huge thing. Who doesnt remember their fist kiss, I’d never forget mine.. or who it was for that matter. We’re still really good friends 7 years later.
guest
@my_favorite_song@xanga - i haven’t bought a boy with my own money, and i haven’t had a first kiss with a pair of shoes yet..
…i’m so behind in the game :[

No, I kissed a little Asian boy in third grade behind the school.
I don’t remember my first pair of shoes I bought… but I remember the guy with me when I bought my most expensive pair.
dahlia / 2747 posts
def don’t know what my first pair of shoes were.
guest
I have no idea what the first pair of shoes I bought with my own money were. I definitely remember my first kiss. I’ve never regretted dumping a guy OR throwing out a pair of shoes.
orchid / 223 posts
I had to laugh aloud at this – shoes are fine… but they are never, ever, ever better than kissing… and for those of you who *would* rank shoes as better than smooching… I just have to wonder, if the guy should work on his technique, then!!!
guest
Yeah, It Seems Weird. I Am Like You. I Remember My First Kiss(Prolly Because It Was Just Last Week…) And Everything About It, But Not My First Pair Of Shoes. I Really Regret Dumping This One Guy, I Was Too Stupid To Realize That He Was Sweet And Tried SO Hard To Show Me. And I Miss Him SOO Much. I Just Dont Know How To Tell Him Or If I Even Should… And I Dont Regret Throwing Out A Pair Of Shoes. They Prolly Got Too Small!(:
guest
That’s really sad. I have no idea what shoes I first bought with my own money. But I definitely remember the first and last name of the first guy I peck-kissed and frenched.
guest
My first kiss was with a tall drink of water named Cyrus Sipp. Google him- seriously.
I’d like to say the first pair of shoes I bought was a pair of boots I intended on using for a sailor moon cosplay outfit for Halloween? But it could have been an ugly pair of heels for my great grandmother’s funeral. I had never met her before and I was pissed my mom was forcing me to use my own money for nice shoes when I thought black chucks would be perfectly appropriate.

Wow. I can remember every guy I’ve ever kissed. As for shoes? I can’t even remember what brand is the pair of shoes I wear daily. And throwing out shoes, tsk tsk – I recycle or donate old shoes.
guest
73% of all statistics are made up.
guest
womankind just hit a new low.
holy shit.
guest
i remember both
guest
I also remember the first pair of shoes I ever bought with my own money very vividly. And I still have them. A pair of boots. I’m not sure that it was my best decision, but I was tipsy or I’d have never spent money on a pair of semi-slutty boots. My friend and I decided we should see what it was like to sneak alcohol into the movies because we were extremely lame. Then we decided to go shopping. We stood in line at JcPenny’s for those boots until I thought I was going to faint. I can’t even walk in them.
guest
What the heck? I haven’t even kissed a guy and I don’t even remember the 1st pair of shoes I bought with my own money! I’d remember the guy more than the shoes.
guest
Pity
guest
90% of the time, the guy is a bad kisser, reason to forget it. (Ha)
This is slightly displeasing but…what would be the guy equivalent?
guest
Women who prefer a shoe over kissing have obviously never been kissed well.
guest
I remember every guy I’ve ever kissed. Luke. Probably because I only kiss when I am in love with a guy, but still! I also remember my first pair of shoes. Striped Keds. And I am always sad to throw out a pair of shoes, I only do it when they’re worn beyond wear. Guys.. well it’s sad at first, but I get over it and realize it was for the best
guest
haha i regret giving back these coach shoes, cuz i cant find anything like em, and i dont even like coach but i regret giving them back all the time because i liked the style, but rejecting or dumping guy nooo way. and especially once you get older you understand how much the things you work for mean to you, and guys seem less and less relevant
daisy / 556 posts
I don’t remember either one. :p
Once I move on, I generally move on. But, that’s just me.
I never really bought into the idea that every woman would remember her first kiss. Heck, I even know women who don’t remember their first time having sex or who it was with. Not because their sluts, but just because time has passed and they really aren’t concerned with the past or past loves. :p
But, that doesn’t mean every woman would forget. Naturally, there are a lot of women who remember things like this. Just like there are a lot who don’t. :p

I remember my first kiss VERY WELL.
magnolia / 1017 posts
lol.
i’m pretty sure the “15% regret dumping…” is a huge-ass lie. ROFL. as if that wasn’t obvious enough. and even if i didn’t remember my first pair of shoes, i could just lie and pretend i did remember.
guest
They are both hot!
guest
I don’t remember the shoes… but I do remember the kiss, with who, AND (bonus point in my book…) I still talk to him. He’s my best friend now lol (and I only regret dumping him once in awhile… lol)
guest
I’m not a shoe-lover. Pity me, but I just buy shoes when I’ve broken the last one, or when family members start complaining that I’ve been using the same pair over and over so they would drag me to the store and force me to buy the new ones . I just happen to not being a shopaholic. Does that mean I’m lack of ‘girly’ hormones? Hm I’m clueless
guest
I don’t remember either but I certainly regret throwing out many pairs of shoes – but not many guys!!!
guest
That obviously sucks for those women. I mean obviously, they’ve never in their life met a great kisser.
guest
shoes are better.
hydrangea / 60 posts
I don’t think that shoes are any better, but when you can’t have one, the other makes an excellent substitute in the meantime… But kissing an amazing guy in a great pair of shoes is priceless
guest
Well, I am a woman and I’d love to say:
If you pick shoes over kissing then you’re definately kissing the wrong person!
guest
Definitely not.
guest
this is pretty funny
the first pair of shoes I bought were white dressy heels, because I was going to be a flower girl in a wedding. I loved those shoes.
first kiss was on my older sister’s couch in the middle of the night with a guy named David, who was several years older than me and to this day, still writes me letters. from jail.
:]
guest
I’m definitely not with those stats: my husband’s kisses for me would beat all the shoes in the world
For real, I vividly remember EVERYTHING when my husband and I shared our first kiss but I don’t even remember the color of my first pair of shoes. All I remember is that they were dirty LOL
… However… I DO love shoes
guest
it depends on the shoes…
magnolia / 1030 posts
i dont remember the shoes i bought 1st, but i would def remember my first kiss.
but i really am torn throwing out shoes XD
guest
Do not remember my 1st shoes that i bought myself, vividly remember 1st kiss. I would question who they surveyed- it does not sound like a good cross section of women.
guest
Maybe they remember their first shoes because the guys were awful kissers!
A few kissed me like a jellyfish
guest
His name was Chris, and he kissed like a fish…bleck.
My shoes, were either flip flops or heels, not really sure, oh well haha.
orchid / 196 posts
i love shoes and all but YEAH RIGHT they are not better than kisses, come on lol.
my first kiss was with this boy named matt. it was magical and tingled on my lips for days. too bad he was a complete asshole.
guest
ahahahahahaha! shoooooooooooooooooooes!
guest
no i choose kissing… dont get me wrong i looooove shoes, but i love kissing way more
hydrangea / 51 posts
I remember both completely. And it’s not that I like shoes better than men, it’s just, sometimes you in the mood for new shoes, and sometimes your in the mood for some spit swapping
guest
lol hm. Weird statistics…wonder where they got those. Those 2 things are really strange to compare anyway…
As for me though, i have only kissed one guy, but who knows how many pairs of shoes i have had in my lifetime…. actually, aside from the ones i grew out of throughout the years, i have never really bought a pair of shoes with my own money yet, even though i’m 18. My parents insist on buying most of my material necessities like that, maybe because i have no income. :S
Shoes are no big deal to me really…
guest
The second one I understand because shoes are obedient and they can’t hate inanimate objects that they toss out and maybe they’ll miss them!
But no one wants to remember an ex they dumped for a really good reason- because they no longer like him!
Maybe the first one is understandable too.
Buying your first pair of shoes with your hard earned money kinda makes a woman feel independent. I mean, they like the shoes, they’re willing to pay their own hard earned money for it, they get it.
But with kissing a guy, a woman will also need the guy’s consent, and a first kiss only happens once… wearing their first pair of hard bought shoes happens more than once. Chances are they’ll be a lot more familiar with the latter.
guest
I couldn’t tell you the first pair of shoes I bought, or even if I’ve ever bought shoes with my own money (my mom loves shopping for me, even when I don’t go with her), but I can name every guy I’ve kissed (it’s a short list). I have regretted throwing out a pair of shoes, and I have at least 1 pair I’ll probably never throw out, and I’ve never, in the long run, regretted ending a relationship.
guest
If only I thought of shoes in a higher regard than boys. Life would be simpler don’t you think?
guest
“92% of women could remember the first pair of shoes they bought
with their own money, but less than 2/3 could name the first guy they
kissed. “
the shoes were probably expensive, nice and took a lot of time to decide on. some women don’t go through as much thinking when they first kissed a guy? Note how this is a british study. what does this say about british women? and maybe the “study” was biased.
“96% of women said they regretted throwing out a pair of shoes, but only 15% said that had ever regretted dumping a guy.”
duh, most of the time you get what you receive when you buy new shoes, the problems only develop later with a guy (and thus the dumping).
guest
@ItsNona@xanga - lol funny. jellyfish? reallyy
guest
Hm…survey sounds biased! I have no clue what pair of shoes I first bought with my own money. lol But I definitely remember the name of the first guy I kissed.
