I just dislike them because they’re a goofy boy band. What’s to like?

Their music is shit and they don’t even have the “oh but they’re cute!” factor.. Wouldn’t have liked them as a kid, can’t like them now.

Plus I find it mildly creepy that 20 year olds are making money leeching off little girls, but whatever.

I don’t hate them, I just don’t enjoy their music…But that’s me..

Everyone should get the fuck over it. Change your radio station if their song comes on, change the tv channel if you see their faces, walk away from a crazed fan girl if she mentions their name, etc., etc., etc.

I have listened a little and they weren’t that great. They’re not good looking. They’re obsessed over by all these preteen girls, and they’re all almost grown so it’s creepy. Everyone is all OMG THIER SOOO CUTE!!!1! it’s like, no. Just…stop. Please. And now they’ve broken up? I say good riddance. 

I don’t hate them, I just hate the fact that they’ve been forced on the general population, like Miley Cyrus and, back in the day, Zac Efron. You can’t escape them. Oh and Nick sounds like he really needs to blow his nose/clear his throat when he sings. I hope I’m not the first to notice that.

At the end of almost every line they sing their voices have this annoying upward inflection that totally kills everything. Screeching ftl.

And to answer the question, I’m sure they are perfectly nice people, and some of their lyrics are pretty decent, I’ll give them that. To be perfectly honest, the main reason I dislike them is because they are so unbelivably popular that you can’t go anywhere without hearing about them. I avoid them because of their mass popularity. The same applies to Twilight, Miley Cyrus, etc.

I love you writing this post! I love the Jonas Brothers music and happen to think them to be quite talented. I think it’s just because they are a ‘boy band’ and have so many preteen girls after them that automatically makes people get this idea that their music sucks (of course, this means without ever having listening to it. Or hearing just the radio played music by them). They come off as really genuine and sweet from their interviews both old and new. Meh, whatever, I like them and their music and I’ll continue to listen to them.

Because they dissed Taylor Swift, are kind of weird looking and dress like girls- I like guys that don’t put so much effort into what they wear. To be fair though, I haven’t really heard any of their music so they could be really good. I actually liked hearing them sing in Night of the Musesum 2- their voices were really angelic. I know my reasons for not liking them are kind of pathetic, but they are the same reasons I used to “hate” Justin Timberlake. I think hes pretty cool now.

I hate them b/c they are ugly and way too hipster and yet ppl love them to death. So in summary, I hate them because everyone likes them and they suck.

I wanted to stay as far away from the Jonas bandwagon (just as I’ve wanted about every other bandwagon to come along though I never stick to my guns) but I’m a avid fan of anything Disney, so being the cool person I try to be, I watch the Disney channel a lot and then their song “When You Look Me In The Eyes” was played a lot during commercials and I loved it. So I listened to their music a little bit. But then… a year later, I happened to catch their show, “JONAS”… and guess what? Those guys are hilarious. Yes, stupid funny, but funny. Even though it’s written for them, if they can deliver it, I will also believe that they are just as funny in real life. So there. That’s exactly WHY I like the Jonas Brothers.

Show me a good song by them and I’ll like them as musicians.

I hate the need to hate things because theyre popular, and I used to be like that, but it’s a waste of effing time, like something or dont, but dont just eschew it because it’s popular. Some things are popular for a reason, because they’re GOOD. I don’t know about the jobro’s but seriously hating things because they’re popular makes you as bad as the “preppy” people who hated you because you weren’t, no good excuse, just because they could. Give things a chance before you hate them, not just decide based on their fan club.

Probably all the annoying screaming teen fans are what I dislike the most..haha. That, and their music really isn’t “rock” as they like to imply.

No matter what kind of music you’re into now, one cannot deny that they didn’t LOVE one of the boybands listed above at some point in time. Stop being hypocritical, and let the kids have their fun. They’ll laugh over how silly the music they listened to as kids was someday.

besides, who else do they have for a role model? I’d much rather have my (non-existant, mind you) looking up to purity ring, skinny jeans wearing 20 year olds than Shave my head and flash my hoo-ha 35 year olds, or LMFAO.
besides, do you really think that kids should be going around singing “SOS” or “Lovebug”, OR would you rather they sing “Sexy Bitch” or “Love Games”?

That being said, I’m not a HUGE fan of the Jonas Brothers. I have to admit that I do like a couple of their songs, however, i couldn’t really be bothered with them. I do think that they’re one good role model to young girls and boys alike these days.

1 – yeah, but once they turn into disney, they get turned into one of those disney clone people manufactured by the big wigs up at disney corp. don’t get me wrong, i love disneyworld, but i think these three guys might’ve garnered more respect without the little tween girls sporting their faces on their backpacks.

2 – i have no issue with guys in skinny jeans. actually, i have no issue with what they wear at all. other than yeah, okay, they look just like everyone else, cloned trend-followers.

3 – yeah, i have listened to it. still don’t like it. i find no depth in their music and their voices grate on my nerves just a little. it must be the boy-pop feel that i hate.

4 – wait a second, when is this EVER  a reason to hate anyone? i wouldn’t give a shit if they were gay, i still don’t like their music. but there’s nothing wrong with gay, why should that detract from their credibility as artists? in fact, if they were gay i might just respect them a little more for being able to be who they are and still make it in the big world and gaining global recognition. honestly, this last point frustrates me beyond belief. give me a break, this isn’t a legitimate reason to hate a person.

Personally I love Disney movies, the series are too much though.

As for why I hate The Jonas Brothers, simply because they have a “been there, done that, thought it was tasteless the first time” type of music. Its like a Backstreet Boys meets Justin Timberlake sound, and I didn’t like either of them.
I think their tasteless, done over, and absolutly not worth listening too.
And they’re lyrics mean absolutly nothing in my opinion.

Joe is the only one I have any dissent towards…two of my friends have met him, and both of them said he was incourteous to them and ignored them and pretty much didn’t really care that they were there. The other two, they said, were very nice. Another friend (all three of these friends work for Disney, in case you’re wondering how I know so many hahaha) said that she saw the Jonas Brothers at one of the Disney resorts and only Joe’s brothers were willing to give her an autograph, Joe himself just kind of walked away.

Also, his song about Taylor Swift is a lottttt ruder than her song about him. “ouch you hurt my feelings” compared to “you suck I found someone better lolololololol”.

Annnnd idk I just don’t like him. (:

The straight girls like them better than me. And to be honest, I have listened to their music and I do think they are very very mediocre. And as much as I love Disney, I don’t approve of their policy of churning out what are basically equivalent to Japan’s idol singers and recycling them when they get stale. Very nice post, there are a lot of people who just won’t give them a chance because of those reasons. I have no problem with people liking or disliking what I like, but give it a chance first. That’s like the korean boy bands I listen to, people automatically judge me, but if they give it a chance and then don’t like it, then okay whatever.

Um their music is dreadful? I think that’s a no-brainer legit excuse to hate any musical group.

someone on youtube compared the jonas brothers to the moffatts. and i was EXTREMELY insulted. the moffatts played, wrote, and sang their own music. and what the hell do these goof balls do? i supposed they’re just a phase for the little ones. 

In my opinion, people hate what’s popular and idolized. Twilight, Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga, etc. They are all so enormously popularized that people don’t necessarily hate the people involved, they hate that people think they’re the greatest thing since pumpkin pie or the like. It annoys people…a lot obviously when something is SO in your face constantly.

I like them, actually. I defend them when friends (and my boyfriend… he always has something to say) diss the Jo Bros. However I’m not fans of them - I just don’t mind them at all.

I don’t hate them.  I don’t think they’re particularly talented.  And they’re WAY overrated.  Plus, their cover of Hello, Goodbye by the Beatles was atrocious.  

But, as long as I don’t have to listen to them and as long as they refrain from butchering any more Beatles songs, they can do whatever they want.  Actually, some of their songs are kind of cool.  Well… I like one… and it was a cover…

Overall, the vocals kinda bother me, I don’t get why they sing like man-boys, it doesn’t do any good to the songs. I don’t mind weird vocals, they give songs character, I just don’t like that uh… character much. But if the music doesn’t affect me that’s pretty much it. I’m not going to go out of my way to listen to something I get nothing from.

Disney or not, any group that has less (or for the sake of ppl who insist that they’re ‘good’) the same amount of talent as some other groups, but is litterally FORCED down ppls throat with tv and merchantice is garanteed to gross me out. Second, I HAVE heard their music, and their voices, particularly the Joe one, are like a dying animal. Not to mention, they’re totally boring and unoriginal. They wouldn’t bother me nearly as much (just like Hannah and HSM and everything else wouldnt) if the media would stop trying to brainwash everyone with it.

While a lot of girls also dislike Jonas Brothers, I think the majority of people who do are probably male. Most guys usually do end up hating guy bands where the guys are hot or guy bands which get a lot of attention from women. I think its natural, though, because women do the same thing with girl bands or just female artists who are hot or who get a lot of attention from guys.

There are naturally exceptions to the rule (as with just about every rule), so please don’t think I’m saying that ALL guys and ALL girls fit into that mold. :p

I like some of their music, but not all of it or even a majority of it. But, its not often that I find a band or musician that I like the majority of their music. So, that doesn’t make me feel that they are an inferior band at all.

I don’t base my opinions of people (or their work) based on what they wear. I like guys who wear pants that fit, so I’m not worried about their pants. Their pants are not so tight-fitting, anyway, like you said. I vastly prefer that look to guys who have baggy pants or pants SO baggy that we see their underwear. That is not hot.

And I don’t care who discovered a band. If I like their music, I like their music. In fact, most of the songs that I do like from the Jonas Brothers are their adaptations of Disney songs. But, that’s just me.

And hating a band or a musician based on the assumption OR the fact that they are gay is ridiculous. Whether it is true or not. That is not a good reason to hate a person or a group of people. That has nothing to do with the quality of their work. It does, however, have everything to do with the quality of the person doing the judging…and it is not a good result.

If you’re going to hate a group, a single artist, or ANYone, at least make it a good reason for doing so. :/

And, I do agree with you. Unless you know these people personally, and/or they have done something to wrong you or someone you know personally, then I think hate is a bit of a strong word.

Then again, I doubt that the majority of people who say that are talking about them personally, they’re probably saying, “I hate the Jonas Brothers” in lieu of saying, “I hate the music the Jonas Brothers put out.” For some people, these are interchangeable phrases that mean the same thing, but aren’t meant to actually attack the Jonas Brothers personally. Just their music. Or, in the cases of some bands/artists, the things they do or what they seem to stand for.

Its kind of like when someone says, “that’s gay” to say “that’s lame” but they don’t really truly mean to say that “gay” is a bad thing. Its just how they are talking. I don’t like it when people use that phrase, but I do know people who use it without thinking and hate to be asked not to say it because they feel that its silly to adjust how they speak when they aren’t truly meaning to be offensive.

Is it flawed logic? Yes, it is. :p But, its not something that is likely to change, either, no matter how many celebs get on television for commercials to combat such slang or ways of speaking.
