Snuggie is already a pretty ridiculous idea, but when you subject your dogs to wearing a Dog Snuggie?
Well, now that’s just going overboard. They are dogs, not toys! Dogs have fur – they have their own built in ’snuggie’ if you will. Why would you subject them to having to put on another layer? That’s just wrong.
The point they make on the site is that it’s cold outside so your dog should be covered. Dogs don’t give a $%#& what the weather is like outside. They have fur to keep them warm. Their fur grows thicker in the winter because that’s just how amazing a dog’s body is. Oh and get this, each Dog Snuggie comes with a recordable dog tag, heaven forbid it runs away.
But like Jay Leno said, if the dog runs away, it’s probably because you put that ridiculous Snuggie on it! Shame on you!
What do you think about the Dog Snuggie?

Well, there are dogs that naturally have short, thin layers of fur or no fur at all. In those cases, dressing dogs in sweaters and even a Snuggie (a dog may not always care about the weather outside, but if they’re wearing something, they most definitely don’t care how it looks) is practical.
I mean, if it’s not for warmth, dressing animals in anything is plain stupid to begin with.

Those poor dogs!! Then again, I think Snuggies are ridiculous to begin with. I would never wear one, and I don’t think I could ever put my dog in one either w/out feeling guilty.
guest
*Sighs* I miss my dog. They don’t need clothing srsly.
guest
awwwww it looks cute actually!
guest
looks cuter on dog than on humans
guest
wtf they have fur coats already
guest
God those are ugly fucking mutts! The third one ain’t bad but I heard he wasn’t single.
guest
If I were a pet owner, I would wait until the pet requested in a straightforward manner to be clothed and necessarily hide his nakedness, before I subjected him sort of torture like this.
guest
I an tell you now, no dog inthose pictures is comfortable. Its disgusting – I would never put a coat let alone snuggie on my dogs, although a thick fluffy blanket from that material would be good for my old cat…
guest
Epic fail! lol.
Dogs have spa’s, clothes, get their nails done, teeth brushed, baby sitters, beds, blankets, massages; hell that’s more then some people get! Never mind how no one’s noticed that snuggie is just a backwards robe lol…hence the EPIC fail.

Snuggies are comphy but I would never actually buy one. Additionally, dogs come with made with their own furry coat. Its called fur.

alright HATERS. I have a sister who got a snuggie as a gift. And she loves it! when we watch movies on the couch or she’s driving in the car freezing her ass off, she slips it on easily and BAM. Instant gratification. For dogs i admit its just silly. But you’d be surprised by how many old women out there that buy stupid shit off the t.v for their pets or house.
And the dogs are freaking adorable.

There are dog people that think they are children instead of dogs..I think its funny. X3
guest
my dog would chew that off in a millisecond XD the dauchand still looks cute though
in my opinion… snuggie’s are just an excuse to make money ._.
guest
Poor dogs.

i think dogs really HATE to wear whatever, i only have one sweater for my dog and he hates it, but he wear it because he is chihuahua and he freeze to dead during winter but he refuses to go out to house (even if its just to pee) with that.
Dogs dont need clothes, they are adorable like that, they have that pretty hair and own it ^_^
guest
hmmm that would explain why my dog hates it whenever i put clothes on him, he always manages to get it off but its still cute though. how about booties? *lol*
guest
It’s bad enough that people wear them, now dogs? LOL
rose / 886 posts
Haha but it’s so cute! My dogs don’t mind a sweater or a coat, he is a little chihuahua and he shakes a lot in the cold so the sweaters keep him warm. They sell them at pet smart so they can’t be harmful and if he didn’t like it I wouldn’t do it.
guest
dude, stop hating on snuggies. they’re warm.

it’s a good idea, okay and i’ll tell you why. i live in a dessert but during winter it gets to 30 degrees at the lowest. on average 45. not too bad really. i have a purebred Chihuahua who recently came down with a case of pneumonia. how he got it i don’t know. it was still in the 90s last month when the vet caught it. he has short hair and is only about 6lbs. he needs the extra warmth when he goes out so quiet the fuck up about doggies having their own fur.

That’s beautiful.

LOL. i think its cute! & seriously for the people saying.. ” dogs have fur”… uhmmm durr fucking idiots. but some dog dont have that thick of a fur to keep them warm. i have a Maltese thats 3 years old, and she gets cold and starts shivering during the winter time. YES she has fur. but not enough.

i can see the practicality of snuggies for humans and for pets. it’s just cool to hate snuggies because of its simplicity and silly comercial.

Whyyyyy? They’re soooo adorable though. And I can tell my dog loves them. He gets excited whenever I buy him a new one.

hahaha!!! there’s a girl at my school who bought her dog one because they were so ridiculous she couldn’t stop laughing. But for real, I wouldn’t get one.
guest
I’d much rather spend the money getting a nice dog SHIRT not a snuggie. I saw this shirt that said “doggystyle” on it or how about “stop sniffing my butt” hahahaa cmon who wouldn’t get that. forget the snuggie
guest
i just seen these in the store today and had to laugh

Sad! As a professional in the animal care industry I’d like to point out that most dogs have fur and, therefore, are very well insulated. Chinese cresteds are one exception, but putting it on a westie, shi tzu, pom, etc is just ridiculous. Unless you’re using if for a costume, I do think putting pets in costumes is cute haha
guest
ha ha! lol they look better in it than humans! lol
guest
The dogs out there that have hardly any fur, such as Chihuahuas can use them for actual warmth, and although they look ridiculous, they are useful. However, I saw a Golden Retriever with one… and we all know those dogs have a million pounds of fur. My dog is half Golden and she would sweat her tail off (not to mention look goofy).

so adorable! they look so innocent :p

Actually, no, not all dogs have fur. There are dogs who naturally do NOT have any fur. So, that is an uninformed statement. Also, not all dogs have ENOUGH fur. Some dogs, even with their winter coat, can’t handle cold weather. Mostly because, despite the winter coat, there are dogs who are bred to be indoor dogs. Lap dogs. Yes, a lot of lap dogs are frikkin powder puffs. Not all. So, the entire basis for this post is uninformed. There ARE dogs that can’t handle the cold weather. And NEED a little extra help. Just because you put a sweater or a snuggie on your dog does no mean you think it is a fashion accessory or a doll.
I would choose function over fashion if it was necessary to get my little Ru something to cover up with. As long as she is warm, I am happy.
And, excuse me, but most people love their animals enough that they don’t want to see them run away and possibly get hurt or even killed. Wow, what a horrible thing.
What a ridiculously uninformed post. And a rude one, at that. When people make rude posts, I do not try to be nice about it if I think that the entire post is asinine. You get what you give.

I don’t mind the idea of snuggies, we can hate all we want but the guy who thought up the idea of a backwards robe is laughing all the way to the bank, I guarantee it. Soo shut up cussing up a storm and freaking out over how ‘torturous’ and ‘ugly’ and ‘stupid’ they are, because you’re not changing anything.
I think dog clothes are silly, but hey, if I thought of something that i could peddle to crazy dog owners, I’d probably sell it too.

@tracezilla -
Exactly! Not all animals were made for all kinds of weather, we bring animals in from all over the world, they’re not all adapted to the kinds of weather we have here. I totally agree.

I want a snuggie, and if I had a dog that needed clothes to keep warm, I would buy it.
The cat Snuggie on the other hand, would be an epic fail. I’d love to see what happens to the person who tried to put it on a cat.
guest
how is this any worse than clothing for dogs?
guest
I think Snuggies are a great idea and I think dog snuggies are adorable. My dog is about 8.5lbs, he’s small, he has short fur, and he shivers like a vibrator INSIDE the house. He’s constantly snuggling up under the blankets with me while we’re watching movies. So I actually do plan on buying one for him.

@christ_has_bled@xanga - and thank you. some small doggies need the extra warmth

Sorry but I disagree with this completely. Dogs may have their fur coats but not all dogs are built for winter and many breads could use all the help they can get staying warm if their pet parent lives in places like Chicago, New York, or Canada! Our winters are not to friendly to say the least. Now a Siberian Husky is not going to need it but a tiny Chihuahua or even a pit bull will need some help in the winter. Not saying it has to be a Snuggie but winter garments are a good idea for pets during the winter if you live in cold areas. Especially when the economy is this bad many people are going to try to save as much on heat as possible. I know my family never puts it higher the 70. I might be buying some for my cats because it this winter is supposed to be brutal. I have short haired cats. And just because they have fur doesn’t mean it’s built for the cold.
Sorry but fail on doing your research about dogs in this blog, Snuggies are a great idea even for humans….for in the house use only. Not everyone can afford to crank up the heat in the winter.
guest
If the snuggies have the extra holes cut out for them to pee and shit they would be useful for smaller dogs in cold weather for potty runs.
guest
Ew, fail.
guest
WHAT THE HECK! fail. fail. fail.
guest
i love my snuggie i sue it at the comp, doesn’t mean i dont know how to use a regular blanket but those are made for lying down, dogs can have snuggies if they want
guest
Actually, if it is cold enough to require more than two layers of clothing, [more than one shirt and a jacket] on humans to go outside, when going outside your dog should also have an extra layer while outside. But your dog does not need a Snuggie to sit on the couch.
guest
I wouldn’t nessecarily say it’s a FAIL! Being the owner of 4 small dogs, I understand how chilled they can become, especially since we live in Michigan. While making a “Snuggie” might be a little overkill, it is important for a number of breeds to wear sweaters in order to keep warm.
guest
Fail?! No way! Snuggies for Dogs rule! I was a skeptic until my roommate bought one for our lab (as a joke). Much to our surprise, she loves it. Go figure.
guest
I don’t like when people dress their dogs period.
sunflower / 408 posts
i actually think snuggies for dogs are a cute idea. i think it really just depends if you are the type of person that dresses your dogs or not. if you don’t dress your dog in clothing/tshirts, then you probably won’t like the snuggie idea but if you do dress your dog in clothing, you most likely enjoy the idea. but i do believe it also makes a difference depending on what type of dog you have. if you have a smaller type dog or a dog with less fur, then this would be a great addition to have for your dog. if you have a larger dog, then snuggies don’t seem like such a great investment. just a personal choice, i’d say.
