Urban Outfitters is so wishy-washy. Sometimes, they have cute stuff, and other times they have obscure hipster vintage crap that is way too overpriced. I’m a smart shopper so I only go there for the deals. But sometimes even the deals, and especially the dresses makes you think, “What were they thinking?”
Here’s my pick of the top 3 ugliest dresses from Urban Outfitters. Looks like their designers need to get back to the drawing board on these!
1. Looks like they got this floral print (above) on-sale (at least I hope they did) because it hasn’t been around since the 80’s and early 90’s. Oh, and since when did throwing a zipper in the front of a dress become flattering

What do you think of these dresses? Do you like Urban?

i think #1 is super cute, minus the zipper
guest
i like them all except #2.
daffodil / 1540 posts
one and three are cute
the second one looks like burlap with a zipper.

I LOVE urban!
& I kinda like these dresses, just because there not your taste doesn’t mean there not someone else’s taste and certainly doesn’t make them ugly pieces of shit.
guest
I don’t like the pattern on the first one, and the other two are just OK. B/c all of them look like they came from Wal*Mart circa 1992, I wouldn’t pay more than $25 for them.
guest
I think 2 and 3 could be cute if accessorized properly.
You could pair two with colored tights, oversized necklaces and booties. And 3 could be paired with a fitted belt and scarf/necklace.
guest
I think the first two are super cute to be quite honest..the third one I don’t think I’d ever wear lol
guest
2 is just kind of blah. agreed on that for sure.
but i really like 1! no zipper pls.
and 3 would look terrible on me. but there are people out there who would pull that off well.
i think urban has had some crazy dresses though/
guest
The first one is really cute… the zipper is pretty random but not too bad. The second one is okay-ish, but the third one is just weird and ugly. I hate how expensive their stuff can be, but their sales are amazing!

The first one really isn’t all that bad. The second one, not so much. As for the third, I’m on the fence. There could be worse !
guest
…I like the first one.
I love urban! I’ve seen far more heinous dresses in department stores.
guest
:-\
guest
I don’t like 1 or 2… but I think three would be super comfortable.. I’d wear it if it was cheap.
daffodil / 1607 posts
I actually really like all of them. They don’t look too awesome by themselves, but with the right belt and other accessories i thinkthey look really cute
daisy / 693 posts
I like all of them =/
guest
i think if you add a belt to the eggplant one, it’d be cute =)
guest
they’re not bad, but #2 ain’t to pretty.
guest
the first one is nice, but i don’t understand the last two =/
guest
@m0leymol3y@xanga - Definitely! It’s all about accessorizing.
Also, I thought the first one was cute..you’d just have to know how to wear it.
guest
I’m not all crazy for those 3 dresses, but I’ve seen some people pull of those 3 pretty nicely.
I <3 Urban Outfitters!
guest
agree with your choices! urban outfitters has unpredictable style – sometimes majorly cute, sometimes majorly fugly.
guest
I like all of them. Like others have said, they just need to be accessorized!
guest
I actually kinda like the floral print… minus the zipper.
guest
@BellaGlam - Completely agreed. I don’t like these dresses myself but I wouldn’t call them pieces of sh!t.
guest
I like number one and two.
Floral print is back in, and small floral print is about 600 times nicer than the large print gaudy crap out.
I think your descriptions were overreactions and kind of useless really. “Oh this is an ugly piece of shit” Yeah informative and interesting *cough*
daisy / 630 posts
gross.
those are definitely dresses that only girls would like.
daisy / 558 posts
I like Urban Outfitters. Just not those dresses.
guest
2&3 are not attractive…
guest
i don’t find them cute at all.
xo

I think the way you’ve written about the dresses is rather juvenile. It’s possible to trash dresses in a more sophisticated (not that trashing anything is sophisticated) way. By the way, “throwing zippers in front of dresses” is actually cute when done well, though it’s best done on a solid and more simple looking dress. it’s also done on skirts, and I’ve seen it on fashion blogs and websites everywhere. I agree that the first one and second one don’t exactly suit my taste, and the third could be belted/accessorized, not to mention it’d look good in another color as well.
guest
Eh =/
guest
i dont know… i think they are not that bad… i would consider buying them if i was to shop there…
guest
woah woah, slow your roll. urban might be overpriced, but everyone has their own opinion. great analysis! not
guest
the zipper detail is making the two dresses look unflattering. the bubble dress/oversized shirt look is overall not appealing to me even with a belt/necklace. some of their clothing is cute and those dresses can look better maybe if the models had slightly bigger boobs.
guest
#1 is very cute!
guest
Thank God everyone’s tastes differ or they’d have stocked these dresses for nothing. Personally, I like only the 2nd one. Spice it up with a few accessories and it’s not half bad. The other two..leave much to be desired, at least in my opinion.
guest
i dont think theyre that bad?
x
guest
I think all three of them are hot!
guest
yeah, urban is really hit-or-miss for me. not very consistent.

I’m disappointed with today’s fashion. I’m holding on to pieces I’ve bought in recent years, hoping the tides of trend will change for the better.
orchid / 215 posts
Harsh much?
@BellaGlam - I totally agree. I like these dresses. Theyre not fabulous but they arent sh/t either.
guest
I’m not very fond of Urban Outfitters, although I will occasionally find something that is actually classy or simple enough for my liking on their online shop.
But I tend to only gravitate around their BDG cigarette ankle jeans. Eh, not so much their dresses, or even anything else for that matter.
I would agree with this post, although very opinionated and based on personal preference (yeah, what do you expect?). However, I’m sure there are many girls out there who can prove otherwise with their creative senses of style… those who can make seemingly “unattractive” dresses look really, really attractive and cute.
I’m not one to go THAT far into playing dress up though, especially since I’ve become slightly more frugal once being on my own in college.
guest
i acutally like all of them.
guest
I completely agree with what you said, these dresses are quite awful.
guest
I hate this store and these dresses are awful looking, everything from Urban Outfitters is cheap and falls apart after one wash. I can’t stand that place.
guest
I never like urban outfitters. None of their stuff really appeal to me
guest
o wow…that’s bad.
guest
#3 would be okay if you belted it. Some people wear clothes so that they look like hipsters, dont diss all hipsters! I think the grey dress is no good, i would agree. sometimes UO is spot on, sometimes its a miss I agree.
daffodil / 1975 posts
They all suck.
dahlia / 2747 posts
actually those aren’t that bad. there are much worse ones.
sunflower / 337 posts
the grey is the only butt ugly one.
the other two can be worked with [is that a sentence]
**you can work with the other two to make em less tragic
guest
I actually like the last one one. Do I have a bad taste then?
guest
The last one’s not so bad. I agree that UO is a little wishy washy though.
guest
I kinda like number one actually o_o
The other two aren’t really ugly, either.
There were so many to choose from and you chose the decent ones (not good, not bad).
I can’t see skinny people looking fat in the third one, either. The model looks fine. I know we’re not all model skinny but duh -_- not that bad.
Not very accurate list xP
guest
Think you’re just really angry right now….are overreacting (not that I blame you, if I was into fashion I might be hyperventilating now).
They’re not that bad (I’ve seen worse at Forever 21 and Charlotte Ruse, and even Ann Taylor). But yeah, the zipper makes it look like you got it on backward. They all look decent, stuff I would buy (especially 2, but I guess that makes me boring?). It’s all about how you use the clothes, I guess. #3 isn’t all that bad either (just buy a size smaller or something).

I must be a loser, I like them all.
guest
I fully agree with you. I wouldn’t wear any of these dresses. I often find myself in Urban Outfitters when I am at the mall, but I don’t own any clothes from them. They cost too much money. I can find a comparable outfit for half the price somewhere else. If I buy anything there it’s a book.
guest
I think they’re kind cute.
guest
I’m actually currently wearing piece of shit number one!!! Going out to dinner with my boyfriend in thirty minutes, hope it doesn’t SMELL too bad.
guest
honestly i really like the first one.
even the second isn’t that bad..
but three? NO.
guest
i think theyre all nice o_O
guest
@galadrielspitcher@xanga - agreed
the rest are bleh.
guest
Haha now I want to be an eggplant for Halloween!!
guest
I don’t like any of those. I do like Urban Outfitters, but only for houseware, books and accessories. Not so much the clothes or shoes, because they’re usually WAY overpriced. I’ve only bought one sweater from them that I love, but that’s it for clothes.
guest
if you’re a fashionista you can totally make #3 work. add a belt and some seriously cute jewelry. hell, maybe even a scarf. you just have to know how to make it work.
guest
I like the first one, minus the zipper. I like that kind of floral print, the red and black.
guest
Omg, those are nasty. Lol.
I’ve never shopped there, so no opinion on the site as whole.
guest
They’re not that bad, I really like the 90s vintage style of the first dress. I love the old school.
guest
Eh, they’re alright. I like the first one though (:
sunflower / 392 posts
LOVE URBAN hot like 3 diff dresses and skirts from there
but i don’t love those dresses.
magnolia / 1354 posts
I’ve seen worse dresses then those. I happen to like the first one, maybe minus the zipper though. And the third one isn’t that that bad either.
guest
the first one is okay… i just dont liek the zipper… the others one are kinda raggyy… they look like rags :/
guest
i love early 90′s floral print dresses. but im admittedly a bit of a hipster when it comes to fashion. i agree that the zipper isnt becoming, but without it, the dress would be lovely. the others are ok. i agree with an earlier poster than accessories could really help out.
guest
I don’t like any of them, but I like urban outfitters.
guest
Love number one, seriously into grungy floral. The second is a great base dress that can be mixed a ton of ways, which is, what I thought, was a good quality in clothes.
And zippers are big, where have you been? Please don’t give advice as to what’s fashionable, you’re pretty behind.
guest
I LIKE ALL OF THEM.
daisy / 743 posts
I like Urban Outfitters’ accessories, stationeries, and books.
Clothes, not so much.
guest
I love the first and third.
daisy / 556 posts
I like the first one. The others…no. :p
guest
the last one is the worst!
guest
what sales?
i’d rather go to a thrift store & get something 10x better, thanks.
guest
i like all of them. but you’re right, their stuff is really overpriced considering the quality of the clothes. i ordered $50 shoes and they’re pretty cheap-y
guest
number 1 is ugly, its so florally its making my eyes dizzy. my great great great grandmother wouldnt even wear that (if i had a great great great grandmother). number 2 is ok, i would give it a glance and number 3 goes into the sleepwear category. i bought a cute oversize tote (one of my favorites) from UO so its a go on my list.
guest
I like number one. :s
rose / 781 posts
I like the last one but the others I agree are ugly.
guest
i think they are ugly pieces of @#!^. :]
guest
Number 1 is totally my style. I think its super cute and id buy it!
guest
not the worst dresses I’ve ever seen…
guest
So I like all of them…
