A new poll has revealed that almost one fifth of women admit they have put on make up whilst driving. This puts themselves and other road users at risk. Women’s car insurance specialist, Diamond, quizzed more than 4,000 women on their driving habits and discovered surprisingly high numbers of them take unnecessary risks by applying their make up behind the wheel.
The survey found that women aged between 17 and 21 are the most likely to
apply make up and drive and unsurprisingly, are also the most likely to have crashed their car as a result of it.
Have any of you done this? Do you do anything else while driving (such as texting, reading, talking on the phone, etc.)?

I haven’t applied make-up while driving but I am guilty of texting at stop signs and red lights.

I don’t drive, so it’s not really possible for me to do any of these things but it’s probable if I did drive I wouldn’t. And those people who do put on make up or text etc while driving will be happy when they crash, won’t they? I’d rather text once I got out of my car, then be in a crash and possibly die just because I wanted to text someone. Wouldn’t you?

Yep, I do this :/

I do that, I text and have this screen on my CD player which plays movies and videos so I watch that too. I fill out form and read. I try not to do it when it is too busy though I don’t purposly want to hit anyone.
I have this game though for different objects I hit, they are each worth a different number of points, so far I have 23 points so I don’t really mind doing distracting things while driving because it all adds up in the end.:)

I don’t wear make-up, so I have not done this. But I am guilty at times, of talking on my phone while driving, or sometimes fiddling with my GPS when I haven’t set the destination before leaving my place.

Christ, are we that stupid? Because women need higher car insurance too.
I don’t carry makeup with me. I do it at home, carry blotting sheets to school. If I don’t have blotting sheets, I go into a bathroom and blot with some toilet paper or paper towel. If my phone vibrates or rings from in my pocket, on the road or at a red light, I take it out and toss it on the passenger seat so I can check it when I’m parked. I’m a passionate good driver, it sucks that some people really spoil the experience and luxury of being in a car and on the road.
I wonder what goes through people’s minds when they distract themselves with non-driving tasks. If people think they can keep track of all of it and still get somewhere safely and conveniently, not only to themselves but everyone else on the road, that to me sounds just like the “I’m only a little buzzed” drunk driving argument. Driving requires us to keep track of thousands of different things, we don’t need to add stupidity to it. Do people not realize consequence is attached to all that?
As of October 26th, Ontario Canada will no longer take the bullshit of people driving with phone in hand. I encounter these people everyday on the road and am glad they are bringing things to a no-tolerance level.

NO no no, that is so dangerous, I get distracted easily when I drive, I can’t even text while driving, let alone applying makeup! I don’t have the ability. I do talk on the phone sometimes but for only a brief moment.

who reads while they drive?! i don’t do any of those.
guest
I….
1. Apply makeup at stop signs and stoplights
2. Text at stop signs and stoplights
3. Eat all the time
4. Read during stop and go traffic
guest
Dont do this.
guest
I was almost run off the road by a female cop who was putting lipstick on while driving…..
guest
NO! i can hardly drive in memphis bc of all the idiots on the rd. y would i distract myself w makeup?!? thats wat home is for!
guest
I do it all the time. Only during traffic-light stop.
guest
guilty…
only I haven’t crashed my car because of it.
guest
I’d never do this. I’m too worried about getting into an accident.
guest
I have zero patience or talent to try to put on makeup while driving. I am pretty talented at ripping a bong undetected whilst zooming down the highway, however. It’s all about driving with the knees, you see…
guest
This cannot be safe. And people have the nerve to call me dangerous when I drive.

Sorry, life is busy and must multi-task.
As far as makeup is concerned,
I usually stop at lip balm or easy-to-apply gloss, so I can still have my eyes on the road. Not the full on bronzer and exact lip color and eyeliner… I mean seriously, how straight can it be driving at the same time? What’s the point if that’s the case?
guest
dont drive yet, so we’ll see eh ?
guest
Nope. My guilty habit is playing with the radio.
guest
I sure don’t, its too dangerous.. .
guest
I never put on makeup while I’m driving. I don’t text, and I definitely don’t read. I do sometimes talk on the phone, but it’s usually only long enough to tell the person that’s calling that I’m almost there, or that I can’t talk because I’m driving.
guest
Im guilty of applying make-up ;( I refresh my lipstick or apply some blush between work and wherever I’m going next. I also usually “finish” my make-up routine (usually just mascara, blush, lipgloss) since I live in a big city and do not want to reapply my make up by the time I arrive somewhere an hour later. BUT, of course, only at traffic lights!
guest
Applying makeup while driving is retarded. I think it is so dangerous. It’s crazy. I’ve never texted while driving. I’ve been on the phone once. I’ve eaten but only if it’s something I don’t have to look at while eating. I don’t even look at the passengers while talking to them. I usually don’t have to take my eyes off the road to change my song… only for a second.

Haha I need to concentrate not only when I’m driving but also when I’m applying my makeup, so no I don’t do this.

i go to school early and put my makeup on in my car
guest
i dont do that
guest
Nope! I can’t, I’m not that talented, lol. I can put on lip gloss (only if it’s in a little squeezy tube) but that’s about it. And it’s illegal here to talk on your cell phone w/o a bluetooth/hands-free device, so that makes it easier. Except that I got a new phone & now I need a new bluetooth b/c the old one doesn’t sync. *sigh*
guest
I put on lip balm while I’m driving b/c it doesn’t require me to look in the mirror and I don’t need to put much thought into it. Anything else I’ll do while I’m stopped.

I once saw a man on the highway brushing his teeth while driving. lol!
I’d probably make my eyes bleed if I try applying make-up while driving haha.
guest
No, applying make up, fidgeting with your phone, wearing high heels or slides inter alia while driving is illegal in Germany, so watch out!
guest
The only thing I do is eat frenchfries when I drive (:
guest
The only kind of make up I put on while driving is chapstick, if it’s close by too. I like to really look in the mirror and make sure I put my make up on properly so I don’t do that while driving. I had friends who used to do their make up on the bus on the way to high school. I tried that once, almost got eyeliner in my eye and decided it wasn’t for me haha
guest
you really have to be a huge idiot to do this. i’ve never seen this happen in real life until last week. the woman behind my mom and me was putting on mascara and we were coming off of the interstate!
guest
that’s really stupid, just get up 5 mins earlier so you will have time to do this BEFORE getting behind the wheel. It is so sad that people put themselves and others at risk to do such stupid selfish little things.
guest
That’s too dangerous for me. I’m dangerous on the road… even when I FOCUS.
guest
Nope, it’s too dangerous. Although, I do know that my roommate and two out-of-state friends of mine talk on the phone while driving and also using texting.
I do know some people read while driving, although I don’t personally know anyone who does. Or at least, I don’t know anyone I’ve seen or who has admitted to doing it. Outside of road signs and texting, anyway. :p
guest
Only at red lights, will I check my phone, reply only to urgent messages (ie; parents). Anyone else can wait for me to get to my destination before getting a reply.
And I’ll apply lipstick and the occasional touch-up at red lights.
I dont believe in doing anything but DRIVING while actually in motion.
guest
I’ve never applied makeup while driving and I scream at girls who do. I made the one friend who did that while driving me around pull over and exit her car’s driving seat. I also never text while driving.
I will talk on the cell phone even though it’s illegal here, but always for less than a minute. Besides it never takes my full attention away from the road. Then again my driving skills are that of a guy’s. My friends have told me I’m the next Danica Patrick. I’ve even beaten some guys racing.
My message to you chicks who do this: you’re giving all other women a bad name. Stop that shit. Either put your make up on prior or after. Doing it while driving, you deserve to be called a “dumb bitch”
guest
I don’t put on makeup but I text. I don’t have to look at my phone to text…so it makes me feel better about it even though I know it’s stupid and dangerous.
