Christian Siriano debuted his Spring 2010 line of shoes for Payless at this year’s Fashion Week. It’s his third season designing shoes for the budget shoe stores.
This pair features a “bull horn” heel – and it looks really hard to walk in! I can’t picture the average Payless customer wearing these. Is this a marketing mistep?
These are also pretty out there. Look at those platforms!
Of course, the runway shoes are custom luxe creations, so Siriano makes a cheaper and streamlined version to hit actual Payless stores. But the entire collection still looks heavy on the extreme heels and outlandishness.
Do you like any of these shoes? Do you have any of Christian’s Payless shoes?

I like them, and at Payless I know I’d get a good deal for them. I’ll probably buy a few pairs.

I think they are all hideous and impractical… I would not buy even one pair… I don’t care how cheap they are…maybe for a gag gift…
guest
I love the tan and red pumps, the others not so much. If the shoes that hit Payless look anything like them I’m going to go buy a pair of each.

i wouldn’t mind picking up a few..toned down version

They’re all ugly, and while I respect Christian’s design and technical abilities, I don’t share his taste at all.
That model’s legs look really bad, too.
guest
i love him, but i don’t know if i love those shoes.
xo

that model has some interesting-looking legs.

holy snap they’re so high D:

I just might buy a few pairs. I can think of a few outfits I could wear with these totally out there statement heels.
guest
If they look that cheaply made in the pictures I can’t imagine they look any better made in person. The red pair is the only pair that don’t look cheap. I don’t care who designed them I am sure they are just as uncomfortable as any other Payless heel so no I wouldn’t buy them or wear them.
guest
Huh. I would be curious to see what the Payless versions actually end up looking like. I think the average person would NOT be able to pull off any of these shoes, just because she wouldn’t know what to wear with them, nor would she have a place to wear them.

the first pair remind me of a dinosaur.
sunflower / 271 posts
I think that they look cool, but nothing that you can not already get in many other shops.
guest
@KimisBarbie@xanga - me too. dinosaurs are pretty cool though….but i doubt i’d wear those heels.

I like the curve, but I don’t think my feet would.
guest
@JessxMaxine@xanga - agreed

if only i weren’t already 5’10…

looks like a nifty way to dress up a plain pair of skinny jeans

i like to keep my feet for the next couple of decades or so.

I think they’re ugly, personally. I also don’t understand why Payless would sell shoes like that, they seem far too avant-garde for a budget shoe store.
guest
These shoes are incredibly creative; they’re much cooler than your average run of the mill Payless Shoes. I’m not entirely sure of their practicality, they would be pretty fierce for a night out.

I just looked on Payless.com.. Idk.. They’re a bit too toned down.
cherry blossom / 42 posts
id buy a few pair. i think they look great and really high fashion!
guest
@rhea - I agree. I like the runway versions over the payless versions.
guest
No thanks.

knwoing how uncomfortable payless shoes are, those top pair are going to snap.
guest
That’s pretty sweet! Do they sell it in Payless Canada? I wanna see…
guest
All I have to say, as a cheap shopper, is, I CAN’T WAIT.
guest
I looked them up on the payless website, and they’re not as crazy as the runway ones. I would buy the skimmers available, they’re simple.
guest
They are just weird looking, and don’t look very comfortable. I wouldn’t buy them.
guest
i love them. i love them all. i would buy them if i had something to wear them with. ):
magnolia / 1369 posts
i love them &+ i’d def wear them …
guest
The shoes aren’t meant for running around, but hey, if you want designer’s unique, stylish shoes at a budget price, go get ‘em.
guest
I would buy some.
guest
I am SO excited for these to hit stores!
guest
No & no. Not a fan of his stuff.
guest
that’s super cute!
guest
Crazy.
guest
I detest the curved heel EWWW

I love Christain’s clothes and his passion but this isn’t cute at all . I mean looks like you ‘ll break your damn ankles in theses ulgy shoes. The model in the shoes does have ulgy legs and that dont help.lol two thumbs down
guest
I like the shoes, the heel is cool and shouldn’t be more difficult to walk in, it’s just shaped differently. What’s with the model’s legs? They’re all scratched and bruised.
guest
I’m not sure.
I don’t think Id buy any of those though.
guest
idk if i like it or not. i’d have to check it out in person
guest
BULLHORN HEELS. <3
guest
ew… I think that they will fall flat on paylesses demographic…
guest
Wow.
guest
I don’t think the bull horn heel would make much difference; they look sturdy enough, they’re just different. I like the collection, over all. I would buy some because payless has good prices, and mixed with good quality and high fashion, that sounds like a good deal. Other designers should follow in his footsteps because of the recession. Besides, I can’t afford Betsey Johnson or Marc Jacobs =] Oooh, I like the cream ruffly ones, by the way. I’ll take those and the bull horn heels.

The only items I buy from Payless Shoe Source are summer flipflops and sandals, because they’re meant to be fun and as wild as I want them. To me, flip-flops and flat summer sandals are the only bona fide “class” items in Payless. (Just my opinion!) The $4 flipflops last for 2 warm seasons: awesome deal. I can use them again next year. The $15 summer sandals, I could wear them to their death for 3 years. Or more, if I take really good care of them.
I got my strong and sturdy stiletto straps, and high-heeled Mary Janes from Nordstrom Rack. Around $40 each. Well worth the cost because they could last for 5-10 years. And they’re all very flexible.
Then I get my fall/winter boots from major fashion outlets. I’m looking for a decent brown one.

i like them
@fried_ryce@xanga - Right!
guest
i like the red ones.. but that’s it.
guest
I would break my neck if I tried to walk in those shoes! I’m not going to attempt lugging Hitomi around, seeing Makoto away to school, making lunch for Mamoru and Otou-san, doing schoolwork, doing housework, helping Makoto with homework, AND trying to keep the house clean in THOSE. They’re completely impractical, I’d rather go barefoot.
Most people would think that fifteen year olds would be all about fashion, demo, I hate it.
guest
I love them all. I would buy them.
guest
i’ve never worn a pair of payless shoes, but i think i’ll start now.

I love love Christian. From his Project Runway show I have been WAITING for something like this. I went to Payless online and in the stores and these shoes ARE NOT for sale anywhere. The Carolina Pump is not in his runway collection. The ONLY shoe that is in Payless that was on Runway and Oprah is the Slither Boot. He has the blue pattern and in black (although online it has sold out). A lot of the stores have his shoes that you can’t get online but NONE have the strap shoes. Also the shoe is only 4″ heel. On the runway I think they are more like a 5-6″ heel. They curve slightly. He also has a collection of handbags that are gorgeous. It doesn’t say Payless on the outside of the bag. I get so many compliments on the shoes and once I mention Payless people can’t believe it. Also Christian has none of these shoes for sale on his website. Anyway have any idea where I can find them? Are some of these going to come to Payless at a later date?
guest
The second pair pictured & the red looking pair are my favorite. I would probably go & check them out at Payless. They look pretty cool.
