I’ve recently been seeing girls wearing petticoats over their pants like little tutus.
Seriously, how is this okay? Here’s how a petticoat is meant to be worn:

Under the skirt! It’s a slip that poofs up your skirt–not a tutu.

This one’s so voluminous! :]
What do you think about wearing a petticoat over your pants? Would you do it? Have you ever seen it?
guest
LOL, since when was that a trend?
i think my city is totally out of the fashion loop by like 3 years
guest
WOW, some people need to look, then, before they leave the house….
guest
totally with you…I just moved to California and I know I will be subjected to some ridiculous fashion while here…
maybe they thought it was halloween? haha
guest
I think petticoats can be super cute, but that white one is ugly. I like the colorful multilayered ones. Either that or I’ll actually just buy a tutu.

A smaller trend to be sure, but I hate it all the same. I’ve scene it on a lot of scene girls t the mall. Know what else gets me? When they pile on 4 petticoats and wear them as a skirt ensemble.
guest
this blog is ridiculous.
every post ive read it seems your trashing
someone or something.
grow up.
guest
gross. i’ve never seen anyone do that.
guest
I dislike it too, some girls here do it. I like petticoats under lolita skirts :3
guest
It looks funny.

I think it’s cute! Lol.

I think petticoats can be cute as tutus even though they aren’t…not everyone wears a petticoat as a poof for under your skirt anymore, I mean I really don’t see it a lot..there’s a time and a place to be running around in a petticoat/tutu but over the jeans I can agree is a little weird
guest
it looks a little odd…can’t say i’ve seen any one do that before but whatever makes them happy rite? =]
guest
I’d rather wear that than a pair of those Winkers…

I’ve never seen this, and I don’t think I ever want to. Who comes up with these ideas? Seriously? And why is it always women’s fashion? Why doesn’t men’s fashion ever get so ridiculous?

looks ugly and cheap.

@sixtyciggs@xanga - People just express their opinions you know and it’s obviously what they believe to be the worst trend over, you know?
guest
i’ve seen that…
guest
ive never seen it around O_ O

@sixtyciggs@xanga - This is MissMaverick05′s first featured post on Lovelyish, and she has only three posts total on her own site – one talks about petticoats, one lauds shoes, and one asks a question about Lady Gaga. So what are you basing your statement off of???
Anyway, I’ve never seen this trend. I wasn’t aware til now that petticoats referred to those things that fluffed up dresses and skirts. I always hated them when I was a kid because they were always made of itchy tulle, and I doubt I would like it much more today.

i’ve never seen that. o__O

@chelseanataliex@xanga - it doesnt seem like an opinion,
it just seems plain catty
@black_lie@xanga - if that is true, lovelyish should pay more attention
to who they feature

Um i think this is what happens when people try and take gothic lolita trends mainstream. In gothic lolita fashions some girls wear black petticoats over black leggings and with lacy black tanks. I think it works great in the gothic lolita movement but not in the mainstream fashion.
guest
Thats something my 5 year old sister would want to wear to kindergarten.
Sadly, I’ve seen a 17 year old wear that with cluncky boots to match X-}
guest
Never seen it and it looks hideous
guest
@sixtyciggs@xanga - Thank you
guest
That is freakin’ rediculous.

this is a trend??

ew….

I’ve never seen it (this century), but that doesn’t mean that people aren’t doing it. I can see how it could be cute just not the jeans and and petticoat pictured. Denim leggings (not actual jeans) no buttons, and layered (or thicker petticoat that you can’t see through) would be kind of cute on young people. Similar to the petticoat and leggings trend of the 80s. It’s not a style I would wear, but it is a style I could see happening and someone pulling it off if they knew what they were doing.

…. This is a trend!?
I’ve never really seen it before. I’ve seen tutu skirts over tights or jeans. Eitherway though, it lookss pretty horrible. I would never wear it haha.
guest
egh.
Maybe if it was this: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_2RBLWS4gQMY/SbbZw81QW9I/AAAAAAAAAYE/UV-6jZ6J4Vk/s400/balmain+tulle+skirt.jpg
and worn with black skinny jeans. I would wear it.
But those things that you pictured look cheap and tacky.
guest
i think im going to go buy a petticoat and wear it over my pants just because people hate it. ha.
guest
I don’t see anything wrong here. Now even you know it’s a “trend”. What do you think people thought when they first saw jeans?
guest
It’s cute, but I don’t have the body for it
guest
that’s a trend?????
guest
I threw out the skirt-over-pants thing a while ago, and a petticoat is no exception.
guest
ive never seen that either =/
guest
I have a cute long pink petticoat I wear as a skirt, haha. But no pants that just looks weird.
dahlia / 2942 posts
NO. It looks like a choking jellyfish.
guest
under a skirt maybe. pants? u must be kidding
guest
So ugly. Just.. urgh.
guest
I hadn’t heard of it until now. o_O
I think it’d be cuter under the skirt, as it’s meant to be worn.
guest
It could be cute.
guest
I havent seen it. Its awful, i cant see why anybody would wear it :/ I do love skirts and petticoats though.
rose / 886 posts
I’ve never seen that…but that is soo something I would have done when I was younger lol,
guest
come to think of it, I don’t know if I have ever seen anyone wearing pants under a petticoat, that picture is from hot topic’s website…I Don’t think they want to show their models wearing JUST the petticoat without something under it and I think they more so want to show the petticoat than it puffing up a skirt so they just had them wear it over jeans…maybe, I could be wrong lol
guest
I think its hot.
I did it a few years ago, had a little pink one. and hell i’d do it again.
guest
I haven’t seen anybody do that o_o.
But yeah, it’s not cute.
guest
never seen it, and thank god i haven’t. it’s really gross.

I actually have not seen this trend….and THANK GOD! I think it’s ugly!
guest
I think it’s kind of cute. But then again I have been reading a lot of manga lately so maybe the fashion sense and style from those graphic novels are affecting my tastes. I haven’t seen people wearing this in real life though.

There is no reason on earth why there can’t be decorative “petticoats,” hip scarfs, or items that go over pants.
My opinion is that if it’s done right, it’s adorable.
daisy / 661 posts
much cuter under a skirt like is should be worn, but my sister and i have be known to wear them as tutus, but no pants underneath..
guest
i’ve never seen that.. but i hope i never do, that’s so stupid.
guest
Girls who wear petticoats over pants need to be whacked in the head (lightly, of course; wouldn’t want to dislodge more than what’s already missing). That’s the equivalent of wearing bras over tops, or underwear over pants — clothing mistakes confined to Madonna and superheroes.
guest
I wouldn’t do it - but I do have friends that follow this trend. I don’t see anything wrong with it – I just think it makes you look younger, and since I’d rather have the outward appearence of a mature woman, instead of a bubbly girl, I’d rather keep my petticoats under my skirts or my tutu’s in a box in the attic.
Just my personal preference

the one in the picture is awful, but i can see it being pulled off with maybe some leggings. not all petticoat’s are in that color nor are they THAT thin. but i wouldnt call it HORRIBLE, either.
