I’m not talking about relationships exactly, but rather, embracing the quirky-ness that is in all of us. Today while my boyfriend and I were walking around the mall, this little elderly lady with her husband came around the corner. They were probably in their 60s or 70s, but in really good shape. The man was grinning and the lady was grinning, and they walked happily holding hands. It wasn’t their smiles I noticed initially though. It was the little woman’s hair.
She had short platinum hair (probably naturally platinum, which is totally rad!) with pinkish-red tips. I was shocked, but I grinned so big. I wanted to hug her and take her picture, but I was far too nervous!
My point is, you don’t have to be 20 to dye your hair a funky color or have piercings or tattoos. You don’t have to be young to wear cool clothes. You just have to be willing to express yourself, and bold enough to go for what you want. This little lady with the spiky colored hair inspired me so much. She was dressed modestly, but here she was with this wonderfully colorful hair!
Whenever I see elderly folks expressing themselves, I always feel a bit happy inside. I know some people would look down on them, but I think we should all embrace the little quirks that we all have, and celebrate that unique beauty we possess.
Have you ever seen an elderly person with something “quirky” “funky” or “out of the norm” on their body/hair? What do you think about quirky appearances or fashion in other people?

If you can pull it off, you can do whatever you want. Well, within reason. You wouldn’t want to offend anyone.

I once saw a 70/80-ish year old woman get her nose pierced at the tattoo shop right down the road. It was great because this town is so sheltered.

Sex Tips For Parents
The 6
Questions That Get Women Sexually Aroused
When you want to become effective at getting a woman sexually turned on, you
must do the “preparation” before you do anything.
Over the years, I (CR James) have listened to hundreds and hundreds of emails
from guys explaining how they get their women in the mood and I have to say, 95%
of these guys are just flat-out horrible at it.
It’s not really their fault, because no one has ever taught them.
For the most part, men tend to “ask for sex”. In other words, they
spend zero time on actually building sexual desire.
In their minds, having sex is an idea, so it’s framed as a
“suggestion” to her.

I told my grandma she should dye her hair pink once, and she thought I was crazy.
But all she does is sit inside and spy on people with her binoculars all day -I don’t get the big deal. Who’s going to judge you? Your cats?

idk my grandma dyed her hair green once.. people sshould be them selves and look how ever they want to.. and i have redhair so im not going to dye it till its turns a different color.. lol so when im older ima try every color in the rainbow..

I plan on having long bright rainbow colored hair when I’m an old lady or at least long pink hair.

Friend of mine, for her retirement party, dyed her salt-and-pepper hair crimson with magenta streaks, and had it cut in something of a faux hawk. She showed up in a tasteful halter-tube top, which revealed a heart-with-banner tattoo on her shoulder. She wore a set of canvas ballet flats that had a bottom edge that resembled Converse/Vans – styled shoes, set of capris. Somewhat an edgier – styled “casual Fridays” – but classy.
Mind you now, she worked in a professional – type company and, here during the recession, can afford to retire, and was finally at the age and stage [and financial security] to tell her contemporaries, “Pooh!”
You have to love it.

@x__MYJAdEdLULLAbY@xanga - lol when they said pink hair, i automatically thought of you.

I love quirky people…especially older folks.
Don’t be a stereotype!
guest
@bella_esperanza@xanga - Agreed!

i think quirky people are awesome, at least they’re daring enough to do what they wanna do. unlike those who are always conscious of how people would think of them.

I’m doing that right now…..plan to change up my look a lot. I love quirky older people!
And to whoever said that you should do what you want with your look “within reason”, you’re crazy. Go off the deep end! Fuck what people think!

that’s adorable!
my mom dies her hair with pink, purple, green, blue, blonde and orange streaks. she has really short hair and it’s just her fun way of covering her grays, some of which she actually leaves to add another color to her hair! some people think she’s doing it to be young and hip, but she’s really just funky that way. she does it because she likes it, and i think it’s wildly cute.

Well, I have seen this couple who coordinate their clothes, they look like they are in their 60s but they look like they have fun together. She was wearing leggings, white button down shirt with big funky belt and leather booties…with Madonna-esque curly blond bob and sunglasses…he was wearing leather pants, a shirt that has just the 2 bottom buttons buttoned up, studded belt and wristbands and hair combed like that Flock of Seagulls guy. They must have embraced the style of the 1980s!

Haha.
If I were white, I’d really want platinum blonde hair… Too bad I’m Asian, and it’d look REALLY strange if I had super blonde hair.

@Imnotcrazyjustinsane@xanga - hey, i’ve had super blonde hair, I’M ASIAN… I didn’t think it looked REALLY strange…

I love quirkiness and creativity! (Artist over here!) I think one of my fears is being thought of as boring.

@Sickness_Mimi@xanga - Oh, hah. I can see it in your picture. It looks pretty good on you. I guess only some Asians can pull it off. =P

love it love it.
they brighten my day sooo much.

i love quirks like that,
i would love to be one of those old ladies walking around with my walker and some crazy hair and all of my tattoos, even if they’re just blurred spots at that point.

I had a chemistry teacher in high school that had a full back piece,
multiple piercings, including a nose ring that she refused to take out,
and short, blue hair. She was great. Not really old, but a 50 something
year old teacher

i think its cool too… and yeah if you can pull it off it works… i remember when i was really small… maybe 6 or 7 i saw an old lady prolly in her 60 or 70s with straight hair down to her chin and one half of her was pitch black and the other side was her natural white hair.. and i just couldnt stop staring at her hair… and i must have looked really struck because she smiled and talked to me.. lol… it was awesome though… reminds me of this post.

i love seeing older ppl with alternative fashion sense as well! you don’t see it much around here where i live (small town America (and i do mean SMALL TOWN)), but when you go to larger towns or cities, you do occasionally see those older ppl done up all rad-like. hehe i want to be a hip old granny one day, myself. heh. ;P

One older lady asked me about my tattoos and piercings. I thought she was going to give me a lecture on them, but told me they were really awesome and nicely done. And I’ve seen older women with cartilage piercings they didn’t get when they were younger or older women in better shape than younger ones. I’ve also run into older women, like approaching 80 and 90, who looked 50-70 without plastic surgery. Apparently having tons of grands and great-grands helped keep them young by going four-wheelin’, skateboarding and all that stuff.
guest
you’re right. It was nice to read this because I’m probably going to be that lady when I’m 60 lol
