A few weeks ago I was down at the Crossroads District in Kansas City for the annual First Fridays Art Gallery shows. I was in one gallery and looked over to see a blond haired girl. My first thought was, “HOLY CRAP, Lady Gaga? In Kansas City? In this very gallery? Nooooo way!”
Then I realized, no. It was not Lady Gaga. It was Lady Gaga inspired fashion IN PUBLIC.
Something I did not fathom I would ever see in public here in KC.
The picture is a little blurry, because honestly, do you think I’d be rude enough to use a flash? Sneaky photography is my thing when doing covert operations for Xanga posts. The outfit up close as I walked past her (well, I kinda followed her) was handmade. Of course, anything like this would have to be handmade. The Gap nor Old Navy does not sell odd leotard outfits.
I give the girl huge kudos. I don’t think I could be brave enough to wear something this different. Celebrities can get away with wearing pretty much anything. Normal people, eh not so much. The girl did a great job on the outfit but I think I would have paired it with heels instead of flats…but then again, there’s lots of walking to be done at First Fridays, so function before fashion sometimes must be sacrificed.
Oh the interesting things we see!
Ladies (or guys…) do you think you could pull off the Lady Gaga leotard outfit?
guest
Lady Gaga fashion should not prey victim on anyone. :[ This saddens me.

DO NOT WANT :O
but i would wear it and walk around my house like a model though. HAHAHA.damnn i wish i had longer legs

Unless you’re going to a particular party or event where dressing like this is okay, you shouldn’t do it. I wouldn’t dress like a cybergoth 24/7. I save that for the raves and when I’m hanging out in an area where it makes sense to where that.

Maybe if I were hella skinnier and taller. haha

You know, that leotard thingy the woman is wearing doesn’t look as dramatic as Lady Gaga’s…so I guess it’d be normal (well, as normal as they get) to see in public…
guest
the top outfit looks dumb on her (Lady Gag-a). the bottom outfit is basaically a bubble skirt. It looks odd in the picture b/c she is moving in it. Bubble skirts have been around since forever (at least 5 years). It wouldn’t look so outlandish if it weren’t so short. I’d wear it if it were longer and I were going to an art show.
guest
if it wasn’t so short, it wouldn’t be as bad as it is.
her butts like practically hanging out if she turned to the side.
bah, indecent.

Maybe a few inches more to cover her arse and it’d actually look sort of cute.
guest
i absolutely not only adore lady gaga’s music, but her crazy style as well. that being said, i don’t think i want to start seeing EVERYBODY wear the type of clothing she wears. pretty sure a lot of people couldn’t pull off this avant garde kind of style in an everyday life setting. unless you’re going to a party or dressing up for halloween, just. no.
guest
Ahh First Fridays! I love the Crossroads.
Keep in mind though, this IS the Crossroads. And I know most people probably don’t know what that is. But Kansas City is a big art city, it’s actually going to surpass NYC one of these days, as far as the arts go. Or so I’ve heard.I go to the art institute there, and trust me, I see outlandish things like this allll the time, even before Lady Gaga got popular. Artists will be artists. And they will wear whatever they want. Why do people feel the need to censor it? Why should everyone dress “normally” in public. It’s not hurting anyone.

@xNicolax@xanga - Agreed.

@Erika_Steele@xanga - it’s not a bubble skirt
I kind of have a dress like that
the front and back are flat
it kind of looks like a taco hahaha

maybe when i was 7, but not now for sure
guest
Haha no. That would just look odd on normal girls.
guest
I LOVE her fashion, it’s really “out there” if you know what I mean.
guest
@Je_Veux@xanga - ROFL. Actually, I said it had stitching to make the hips wide and then I deleted b/c I couldn’t tell from the picture. I’d still wear it if it were longer and longer only b/c I am too old to wear skirts that short w/o looking like a desperate housewive pleading to be young again.
guest
no. lady gaga’s outfits are the kinds of things that are fun to look at, but there’s no way someone could get away with actually wearing it. i mean, that girl has major guts, but…
guest
if it covered her ass, it’d be okay.
cherry blossom / 44 posts
@Erika_Steele@xanga - lol yea the bottom of dresses like that are actually pretty touch ahhaha
taco shell skirt
I wouldn’t even wear a skirt that short, it’s ust too shocking, i already get enough dirty looks

Whenever I see pictures of Lady Gaga, I always stare at her crotch… y’know to check if she has weird genitalia.
I’m so rude. =P
guest
First of all I’d like to say that I love Lady Gaga. Just throwing that out there. Anyway…I don’t think what the girl is wearing is that Haus of Gaga. It’s somewhat like something she would wear I guess, but not too much her style. I don’t think I would like to see other people basically re-creating an exact outfit that Lady Gaga has worn. It’s best to just leave all her crazy outfits (which I love!) to her.
I would never be able to pull off a Lady Gaga outfit…imagining myself in one of her outfits makes me laugh.
guest
i think it looks cute.
her shoes could have been better.

hahah. I saw this girl with a huge ass o__o bow once. HUGE. o__o. someone even called her minnie mouse
. or something lmao.
guest
@xNicolax@xanga - Agreed.
guest
Lady gaga gives weird fashion a bad name.
Weird fashion could look so cute and wearable if she only knew how to pull it off without looking tacky :/
guest
Yes!
guest
I really, really wish I could pull off Lady Gaga fashion. I could wear that dress the girl is wearing at the art gallery, though. With leggings.
guest
I like it , it’s a cute outfit. It’s different and that’s why I like it. Lady Gaga’s outfits are so creative and amazing and I am glad that people are imitating her. Shes a walking work of art
guest
uhmm o__O , i dont like how it looks on her ..
guest
I think Lady Gaga uses these for her image and perfromances, but I didn’t expect people to take it so far and wear it NORMALLY. kudos to her, but no no.no.

umm . . noo dont think so and i dont think i would want to !
guest
Not unless you’re a performer.
guest
it looks like a leotard and diaper,.. so no,.. i can’t imagine wearing that
guest
Wow. Fashion inspired by her is hideous. Wtf is she thinking?
daisy / 723 posts
wow, funny :p
guest
gross! i hate lady gaga’s fashion!
guest
YIKES.

honestly, i’m not too sure what the big deal is about the “secretive” photograph taken by the author. i expected to see something outrageous on the woman like her kermit the frog stunt or dressed in 2020 futuristic gear from head to toe. in fact, it just looks like the woman in the photograph is wearing an eighties dress with a pair of flats. of course the dress is a little too small and should cover a little more of her rear area but everything else seems to look pretty normal to me. this is definitely not lady gaga wear. in fact, i’m not sure what she is wearing is a “leotard”. leotards are tight spandex pieces. this was in no way a tight spandex piece. but to answer the question, no, i wouldn’t wear a lady gaga leotard outfit.

lady gaga outfit – fit for stage / wild* celebrity only
Not for the ordinary people

lady gaga
makes me GAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG
AH!!!!
guest
Lady Gaga is ehh.
Lady Gaga’s music is awesomely fantastic! <3
Her style does not really look good.
daisy / 565 posts
I actually like what that woman is wearing. it’s cute!
did you see her butt though? or a cheek? or was it the side of the dress flapping up only?
guest
heh honestly no, i don’t think other women would want to wear her clothing and outfits..but i think that’s why gaga wears the things she does, isn’t it? lol
guest
ugh. lady gaga-style clothes don’t even look good on lady gaga.
i like that the pictured girl is talented and can make her own clothes… i just don’t like what she chose to make.
guest
I recently a chick who was clearly going for Lady Gaga’s look. Hair, makeup, outfit. It was sad… because I guess it’s a compliment to her?
guest
FYI, “normal girls” have been wearing “weird” clothes long before Lady Gaga.. If you have the desire then rock it
you only live once!
but I like to keep my booty somewhat covered
but girl up top is looking cute! Love it..!
guest
lol that lady gaga inspired look dress looks way too short though. if it was longer, then it’d be good
guest
that is really bad. there’s a fine line between fashionable and tacky….
guest
this bothers me so much.
nuff said.

lady gaga attire doesn’t look good in public, private or on lady gaga herself!
guest
not very lady gaga to me.

uhm what the hell ?
her ass is out for the world to see !
guest
wowww. not good.
guest
If it covered her bottom it would look loads better.
I wear platform combat boots so honestly,no outfit is too weird for me.
guest
i havent worn anything that stupid-looking since i was six.
but still, props to her for hand-making something and wearing it. i never wear the stuff i make.
guest
@Stalinn@xanga - i wear platform combat boots too, but i still think its weird
orchid / 174 posts
I agree that she should have worn heels instead of flats. The dress is short to show off her legs, and then the flats make her look stumpy. Heels with some metal [i.e. zippers, pyramid studs, etc] or something flashy would have been best to distract you from her booty hangin’ out there.
guest
I could pull off ANYTHING.
guest
I personally don’t think that Lady Gaga pulls it off any better than anyone else.
She looks stupid, and anyone that follows her “style” looks just as horrible.
She’s a slut, from her music to her outfits. What ever happened to classy female role models?
cherry blossom / 41 posts
Dumb.
guest
I wouldn’t want to try, to be honest… I think it looks bad on lady gaga too…
guest
i would wear that as an old-fashioned bathing suit. wait. no i wouldn’t.
guest
good for her!!! i give props to anyone who makes their own awesome clothes, whether it’s lady gaga inspired or not.
guest
lady gaga has a penis!!
guest
wowww

EW @ ALL THE PEOPLE SAYING YOU SHOULD NOT WEAR WEIRD STUFF IN PUBIC. Are you that prude and worried about looking stylish? What ever happend to originality? Thank goodness for girls like her to bring it to life and show people, it’s ok to express yourself, no matter how whimisical you are.
guest
Lady Gaga’s *unique* (to say the least) fashion sense has ruined minds everywhere. Now you have all these people coming out the wood works dressing like this!
Actually, the leotard wasnt that bad, but everyone else justs ends up looking like a tard. I would rather dress like Audrey Kitching http://photos-p.friendster.com/photos/52/19/49249125/1_462522516l.jpg
guest
Aw, props to her for wearing that in public! it’s so cute, but I’d be way too scared to wear a leotard in front of people.
guest
nope. but that lady sure is brave.
guest
Not that I would want to.
guest
Weird. Only Gaga can rock that shit.
guest
Lady Gaga is a walking talking fashion disaster and forget normal girls… she herself looks so…um… HORRIBLE.
guest
Nope, unless I am stick thin. Even lady gaga looks like a fashion disaster for half of the time.
guest
i love the look because i own a lot of body suits and i wear them when i work out
but these are costumes, not day wear. i think it should be reserved for night clubs and hallowe’en
you never know where fashion will go, though. i may eat my words
guest
i would look odd 0-o …………….real odd
guest
Personally I wouldn’t copy Lady GaGa’s style because I don’t really like it, but as far as someone else doing it, why not? She’s at a Gallery Night, she possibly made the outfit herself–she wants to be noticed, and I say good for her. She wants to be different; I may not dress like Lady GaGa, but I like to look different too. Sure, I don’t dress up to go to the grocery, but if I’m out shopping or on a night out or whatever, then, yes, while I may not go to the extremes of a look, I will take care to follow my own style (which is more gothy than this outfit).
Also–just a thought–but if she does design clothes, perhaps she chose one of her wilder designs so that people–possibly people who own boutiques or work at a paper–might notice and she could get some publicity for her work? I lived near Milwaukee most of my life and live in a tiny village in Scotland now, but I still wear jewelry I made–you never know who might see it and like it.

lol weird fashion should be for tv and entertainment
guest
I think it looks wicked cute<3
guest
Acctually, who is ladygaga’s fashion designer ?
guest
I do agree a bit.. her fashion sense has gone out of control sometimes.
But ah, I don’t care. She’s still awesome.
guest
I couldn’t and wouldn’t ever try to pull of Lady Gaga fashion. I think it’s a little stupid. But to each his own.
guest
I love her! She inspired me to wear latex leggings and spiky jewelry. And her music is godly.

lady gaga’s style should definitely stay on lady gaga
