Because of the recession, my job has been cutting hours, so I had to change my skin care routine, which has pretty much been the same for years. It freaked me out because I was scared of potential skin reactions since my skin is so weird (I’m a combination of dry/oily) and it’s so expensive to buy things.

I got an online evaluation from Oil of Olay, but even for a drugstore brand, it’s ridiculously expensive. They recommended six products to use and the total would have been over $100! While I was debating to get something else, my mom suggested Aveeno since it was next to Olay and it was drastically cheaper. After checking the labels and seeing all the lines the company has out, I got the moisturizer and cleansing pads for less than $30!

I got the Positively Radiant line because the description says “utilizes the naturally active benefits of soy to even out skin tone and texture and reveal skin’s true radiance naturally.” Being that some of my skin is dry and makes my skin tone uneven,  I’ve been trying to find something to get rid of those patches.

Aveeno’s Positively Radiant Daily Cleaning Pads (as shown above) are wonderful! They’re thick cotton pads are already loaded with cleanser. You don’t have to put them underwater. Just take it from the jar and rub it on your face. It lathers up by itself. One side is smooth for gentle cleansing, while the other said has a fine, grainy texture that can be used to smooth out dry areas on your face and neck. I use it all over for even exfoliation. It feels nice and the cleanser has a light, fresh scent.

Pros

  • Great for traveling.
  • They are 28 pads in a jar.
  • It’s hypoallergenic, oil free, and good for all skin types.
  • Since it’s dual sided, you only need one to clean your face and neck.

Cons

  • Unless your face is really wet, it may take a while for the pad to lather up.
  • I wish the pads were a little bigger. They’re slightly less than palm sized.

Notes: While it says it’s good for everyone, I can’t say fully what it will do for someone with oily skin or acne. My t-zone is oily, but not severe. When I get pimples, they come up in one or two dots, so I spot treat them. While this is clearing up my t-zone, I don’t want to say it prevents oily skin from becoming shiny or cured. I would suggest trying it first. I got this jar for about $7 Walgreens. It’s worth a try.

Aveeno’s Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer is a nice smelling moisturizer. It’s thick,  but you don’t need a spatula to apply it. A little goes a long way. Since it’s in a pump bottle, you wont waste any. It has built in SPF which cuts down on one part of your skin care routine if you use sunscreen after your moisturizer and before your make up. I love the fact that the neck has a lock feature since most pump bottles don’t have lids, so this makes it good for traveling too.

It absorbs into the skin fairly fast & it moisturizes all day. Today I walked to and from work (84 degrees by the time I left for home), worked eight hours doing freight work and running products (that’s store talk for putting away merchandise). Basically, I did physical work all day, but when I got home, my skin was still soft and glowing like it was when I applied my moisturizer at 5am.

The dry points on my face are around the side of my nose and the apples of my cheeks. When I say dry, I mean it can be flaky and red if I don’t wear enough moisturizer. That’s my main problem with some products. I use so much moisturizer because my face it dry, so I would go through it twice as fast. Using the Aveeno products, this is slowly going away.

I still feel a SLIGHT texture difference in those areas but not drastic like before. I even missed a day of washing my face since I haven’t been feeling well and I was in bed all day.  My face was still soft and smooth.

Being that it’s a rich cream, it feels very good after using the exfoliation side of the cleansing pads. This will soothe the skin.

Pros

  • It has a secure pump bottle.
  • It’s affordable ($17 a bottle, but it’s big).
  • It’s hypoallergenic, oil-free, and good for all skin types.
  • It is a two-in-one product, so there is no need to buy separate sunscreen.
  • It lasts a long time and there is no need to worry about your face after a lot of activity.

Cons

None that I can see so far.

Notes: As with the cleanser, I cant really say what it will be like for oily or acne prone skin, but the line is affordable so I would try it.

Aftermath: Since I started using the products, my skin tone is more even and moisturized. I will definitely keep using this for a while, even after money situations improve. I think this line is good for people just starting out with skin care. Aveeno uses all natural products so it’s pretty safe for everyone,  even people with sensitive skin. I give this product line five stars for keeping its promises, being easily accessible (you can find it everywhere, even in grocery stores, so it wont be a hassle if you run out or travel), and travel friendly.
