When it comes to fashion, people are not often thinking of styles other than the ones they see in magazines. As I told you previously, I am gothic and even if it is a common style nowadays, we have plenty of marvellous pieces in our wardrobe!
Today, I want to present you pieces of underground fashion that are considered gothic that I like. I promise not to put too much pictures from the festival, but things I can wear in everyday life.
1.
2.
I love the short skirt with the leather corset, and the jewel on her forehead. (I’m often wearing things like this).
3.
I love the necklace — it is not so common. I also like lace fingerless gloves/leaves.
4.
I love the shoes. I was choosing between mine and a pair like these in January (I finally did not choose this pair).
5.
I love her corset.
Last, but no least:
I love the colors! Because people are always thinking goths are always in black: nope. It’s hard to keep their look everyday, in fact it was at the M’era Luna, a gothic festival of music in Germany.
What is your opinion of this style? Do you like the “gothic” look?

its really cool…I like dark colors

i love red & black..& black by itself is even better. i dress mostly in black & a bit punkish. but goth is a bit too much for me..the entire black attire & black lip stick..yeah i wouldn’t ever go there.
the corsets are nice..but sometimes a little too much.
the last one is like a lolita goth. it’s weird & out there…it’s an attention getter.
guest
eeeehhh i don’t like it ):
guest
I love it, but if I wore it, like, around the street, I’d feel like I was wearing a costume. Kind of like if I tried to wear my prom dress to the mall… the clothes just don’t fit for everyday life.
guest
I generally don’t care for the gothic look for myself but some of my girlfriends can really make it work. I do like the outfit in #2 I would wear that for fun I like to mix it up fashion wise once in a while.

Interesting..
guest
Eh.
guest
i love goth, but i could never do it myself
guest
I like it BUT it is so hard to find good pieces that aren’t outrageously priced. I know Hot Topic is “conformist” to some, but I used to go there, but now they’ve stepped away from the goth look, and have just become alternative trendy…trend being the key word. Also it’s hard to find a a place that accepts this fashion. If you’re working all the time and can’t wear your own pieces, whats the point in spending a bunch of money on stuff you’ll hardly wear?
guest
i admire people that can pull off the gothic style, but can’t pull it off myself.
LOVE the boots in picture 4.
orchid / 124 posts
I like the first one
guest
when I was younger I liked it. I don’t care one way or the other for it now.
guest
I’ve always loved the gothic look. I hate how people these days try to say that goths and punks are the same thing. They aren’t.
guest
that gothic costume in the festival pic on the guy is pretty hot. I don’t know about wearing it as an everyday clothing to run errands but it would be something different to spice up the bedroom lol
guest
No thanks
guest
It can look lovely on the right girl. I am not the right girl.
guest
I like the look as far as it doesn’t go too far. It’s good to strike a balance. I prefer Gothic Metal over dressing goth.
guest
I love the goth look.
If I could pull that off, I would totally do it.
I actually have a pair of platform boots in the 4th picture.
guest
i like it…and love the corsets but the boots and head jewels are too much i mean this was the festival of goths so im sure ppl played it up but these pics were too much.
guest
It’s ok for when you’re young, like in your mid-teens, I feel, but when the wearer gets to be a certain age it’s a little painful to witness. I do really like the first picture, I’ll admit, but that may be due more to an appreciation for Victorian dress than the actual style.
guest
#3 I like alot.
I actually really like little lacy black pieces. But I don’t think I would go all goth…I don’t really like too many chains and metal like accessories.
guest
I like it. I used to dress “gothic.” I kind of grew out of it when I started working. I’d like to go back to what I used to wear, but I’m unemployed at the moment so I can’t afford new clothes. So sad, so sad.

I love black, red & purple!

LOVE IT!!!!!!!!
I do it from time to time, mostly when i’m going out!!!!!

I love the gothic style, and I often borrow a lot of elements from it, but going full-fledged goth isn’t for me; I usually go for a punk rock style. The vast majority of my wardrobe is black, but I also have white and lately I’ve been trying to incorporate more red. Here in Japan, gothic fashion is expensive so I can’t really afford the clothes, but I guess that’s a good thing because it allows me to get more creative and look for cheaper alternatives.
I love the outfit in your profile picture, by the way
guest
LOVE LOVE LOVE it. Use to dress that way, but now I’m pregnant and have no effort.
guest
uhh no
guest
I’m more punk.
But goth is good.
guest
its very cool.. and i like it alot. i also love the big boots they wear
ranunculus / 3457 posts
I think it looks great in pictures, but it’s way too difficult to pull off otherwise, especially if you live in a warm country (goth fashions tend to be hot).
guest
I do grunge/edgy metal kinda things.. DEF not gothic! But maybe gothic-like.. think Rodarte’s recent collection with the broke web-like pieces or dark Galliano clothes.
guest
ew..no
guest
I love the first dress…
guest
i like it when people add a touch of goth to their clothing but not overall gothxcore outfits

i associate goth with Dungeons and Dragons to much for me to ever consider it “cool”

the only goth i like and do are the black nail polish and i dont even know if its goth. i love it though. it goes great with my skintone.

guest
to each their own.
i love certain things about goth “culture”. some of the music is fantastic, and i’m a big fan of jhonen vasquez, god of all things “spooky”. the fashion, however…
i wouldn’t wear it, but i like wearing some OTHER ridiculous outfits from time to time, so i’m not one to judge.
guest
Props to you for posting something a bit out of the ordinary. I used to dress “goth” (and now that I’m really into Japanese street fashion, I’m often wearing all kinds of crazy things) but I must say, I’m not particularly fond of the styles presented. All of it feels too costume-y for my tastes, which is really saying something (of course, I love a good costume every once in a while).
I promise, it IS possible to dress gothic and style and not look like you just walked out of a Halloween store. Usually, casual gothic styles and less costume-y styles are fairly understated and can be very pricey. Because of this, I took up sewing to feed my habit and I was one of the best dressed girls in my school.
“Goth” was in style not too long ago and, with the right clothing, fabrics, and accessories, it can easily be very chic while maintaining it’s edge.
sunflower / 293 posts
It’s a little out there for me…
guest
I just love the combination of red & black colors!that’s it.Not the style.
guest
I used to dress like this. In retrospect, it was a pretty ridiculous phase of my life, especially style-wise. It doesn’t really look too flattering on anyone, in my opinion.
rose / 807 posts
I like some pieces dulled down with “normal’ clothes.
Like a really striking necklace with a cute dress or blouse.
A corset paired with nice bottoms can be a gorgeous outfit.
For some reasons I think Asians pull off the style better. Perhaps its because I expect a bit more of a crazy style? I’m not sure why… lol
guest
uhm the words GOTHIC and STYLE do not belong together!!!!
guest
good luck getting a real job in clothes like that!
guest
For me, it depends on how it is done. I am not a big fan of all the “punk” like stuff that people seem to throw into the gothic look for today. I like the more traditional gothic stuff. And I adore the laced, fingerless gloves. I want some like that one day.
And the boots are nice. My bf used to dress kind of gothic. Not so much anymore. But yeah. He’s the one who got me interested into it.
I’d like to have a few pieces of gothic stuff to wear. Any suggestions?

the victorian style always rocks! i love the goth look, ahem, considering i’m gothic myself. but i’m not as hardcore as i used to be when i was younger, now i manage to change it up more and yeah i can even wear yellow on my good days. i think gothic style can be totally elegant, it gets a bad rap cuz it’s not “mainstream” style but i think being gothic means embracing your inner darkness and there’s beauty in that darkness!
guest
not really my type, but i LOVE the lace fingerless gloves
guest
not my style.

i really only like the boots in pic 2 and the skirt in pic 5
it just seems like everyone in the pictures, and i guess you, are overdoing the theatrics in your looks. eh. and it’s such a high-maintenance look too.
sunflower / 331 posts
It’s terrible. The only ones I can stand it from are Spike and Drusilla, but they are both vampires and fictional.
guest
eeh I have no strong love or hate on the goth look. I like the look as fae as seeing people dressed like that ( sometimes that is) But it’s not wat fits me. I like black and all but I go as far as black pants with shirt and hoodie and All*Stars…but that looks more “emo” when you see me >.< fucking hate getting called that, but thats what you get when you dress like that =/
orchid / 117 posts
i like the third and forth.
guest
I love it. I want a corset so badly; they’re gorgeous. I could pull off the look, but it’s a bit more high maintenance than I get on a regular basis (I’m a t-shirt and jeans kind of girl most of the time), but I’d love to do it occasionally.
The first picture looks so elegant!
guest
I think it’s inspiring. I definitely like the jewelries and I’m fond of black boots, so I’d just incoporate that into my look from time to time. But I don’t dress all that way a hundred percent. I took a picture of a beautiful goth girl:
http://bicycleinautumn.xanga.com/photos/d4233198685020/?album=e4def22d241132&n=30&page=1&jump=1507740#1507740
guest
I love it, but only when someone can truly pull it off and be true to themselves. I hate seeing be play dress up with goth or any style.
guest
I think some of the pieces look cute, but not all together. It just looks like Halloween wearing all that black. If you’re a teenager, it’s a lot more acceptable to see. If you’re approaching 30, and you’re wearing ALL of that, then ((to me)) it looks like a cry for attention. Depending where you live, it’s not even practical. Like number 1. The heat where I live would kill you.
guest
i like looking at ppl wearing it and love the idea that ppl are comfortable being in the minority.

@xsPoNgEs_go_SQUISHx13@xanga - In fact I had put a pic of myself but they didn’t put it in this post. I am on the same article on my lovelyish blog. I’m softer than people on the pic in everyday life, but while going to festival (like pic 4 and 2) or in gothic discotheque like pic3, I am more…hard? But still try to be “class”
.@prettyboy78@xanga - This is funny in fact to see them ^^ Just say “hello” and they smile as if you are father christmas or I don’t know what lol
@PlasticPill@xanga - France and Germany, but no problems, I fall because of heat when it reach 30 degrees even naked ! lol
@Mercredi -Isn’t it ? lol
@sabrinashakeit@xanga - You’re right, price are really high in gothic shops.I prefer sew my clothes or try to find pieces on common shops
to transform(or not sometimes). In fact, I’ goth since 8 years (13 to
21 now) and I have not much problems with this. Some people are not
kind(insults or whatsoever) but it doesn’t matter (for me, I am
accustomed I think).
@elena26x3@xanga - yep, it was at M’era Luna in Germany
But I wear stuff like this sometimes in everyday life in fact.
@MoonFaeEyryan@xanga -
They’re many many gothic in Germany (I’m french and it’s not a hot
country at all but germany is worst) and Sweden. But It’s true that
“summer clothes” are more popular because more “visible”
.@the_Rainbowmaker@xanga -
Yep, in fact I can’t find a post about gothic fashion so I made mine !
I also sew my clothes and transform some pices I buy on stores or find
on brocantes. I have just a few pieces ( presents from my man) that are
really expansive. In fact I don’t think I’m looking like a girl lost in
a permanent Halloween. And my friend and University teachers have the
same opinion
@beauty_is__thin@xanga -
I work in a bank and try to get a degree to become teacher. I have just
to pull of my noze ring, and dress “soft” but no problems !
@RamallahFire@xanga - Like you. I have soften my look a bit while growing, but still the same inside.
guest
I like the gothic style.
The corsets and shoes, but can’t really find these things around I live.
But I think the style is pretty cool.
guest
nope…personally.
but i wouldn’t mind seeing other people wearing those clothes around..=)
guest
I used to be a bit goth, but I never really had the confidence to go to the extreme that I admired. Now I’ve changed and moved away from the style completely. I still think it’s cute but it just doesn’t work for me.
tulip / 22 posts
I think it looks too much like Halloween. I’m not so sure I like it at all.
guest
I’ve been called “gothic” because I wear a lot of black and like black eyeliner. Can I print this up to show what “goth” really is, please????
guest
One thing I like about goth stuff and that is the bold statements that you can make. I love bold colors and shoes that stand up and say something.
guest
I actually really like some of the gothic pieces and looks, though I don’t really incorporate them into my everyday style. Some of them are really beautiful, though.
guest
I’ve always loved the gothic look, but I can’t really pull it off, due to my mother’s “good-girl” influence. I just love black, and I’ve told her this before, but she still refuses to buy me basic black pieces.
When I move out though, trust me, my style WILL change to what I want it to be!
Love the last outfit btw. I love gothic/color mixtures.
sunflower / 343 posts
The first one is definitely the best, but I have a preference for elegance.
The dude in the last photo looks amazing, as does your profile photo.
I usually have a somewhat gothic style, but I get really bothered by a lot of the “gothic” clothing available with the really poor fabric and design that make terrible ensembles inevitable. For example, in the second photo, you can see the red and black scheme she was going for, but the meshy-black of her frills and hair decor go terribly with the slick black of her corset/girdle, and the pantyhose are too close to the red frills to be distinctly contrasting, but too different to match. :/ Her boots are frickin’ amazing though.Basically, I guess I’m just bickering about how difficult it is to really pull off an attractive gothic ensemble… eg,: http://www.flickr.com/photos/thiagopp/125458240/
When you get it, it’s gorgeous.
guest
I’m schizophrenic when it comes to fashion, you might say–kind of all over the place. I love everything from 50′s-inspired sundresses with gloves, heels and pearls to “aristogoth” looks like the one shown in the first picture. If only I lived in a large city again…I would actually have places to wear all of my sartorial dreams regularly, instead of just busting them out for Halloween!
guest
i love it =]
hydrangea / 97 posts
Hmmm. I don’t know tht I like or dislike it. It’s not for me, but there are some pple who can pull it off. I myself wouldn’t attempt it. however I do have a question, what the whole point of goth? To look dead, be depressed/depressing, or an interesting form of self expression via intesting fashion?
daisy / 723 posts
@nubian_qween@xanga - It’s more about esthetism concerning the look. I think it’s a way to express our internal feelings, as everyone else does in fact. I don’t think I’m looking dead or depressed (I’m not depressed in fact), even if I like to be really pale (but I am naturaly so..). There is a big culture behind this look, and each goth live this in his own way. Some are more concerned with literature, philosophy(we may think of romantisms), other history side and a kind of nostalgia, it can be esoterism or whatsoever !
+++>And a lot of wannabe who love going into cemeteries, in love with manson or evanescence and alays wearing clothes from goth shop to feel “accepted”.
daisy / 723 posts
@Weya@xanga - nice picture ! It’s true that in shops, to get good original stuff, it’s hard!
I’m on my avatar pic, that can give an idea of my everyday look

I don’t dress gothic-like, but I do admit corsets are hot. I think it’s flattering for the feminine figure.
By the way, is the last pic really gothic or cosplay?

I really like the EGL style (Elegant Gothic lolita) and things like #1 but not so much the scary demon looking eye makeup and fake lizard contacts kind of goths. (Guy in the last picture is extremely freaking looking!)
I think one of the best things about the gothic style is that it uses a lot of black and reds, which are both usually flattering colors, especially on women.
guest
haha. that last picture is insane. but in a good way.
guest
I like the gothic style, and yes, reds and purples also work well in gothic attire.
As foe where to wear it, only places it seems fitting is Renaissance Festivals (I see it a lot there) and Goth clubs (The Church FTW).
guest
I love corsets.
that black and purple one is amazing =]
guest
I like the more authentic and less trendy styles…
guest
THE. UGLIEST. THING.
guest
gothic is amazing. i consider it art. but i dont like the people at my highschool what wear black pants and a black band tee and say theyre sooo goth. just cuz they were all black they are not goth. if my mom didnt yell at me for going goth i totally would. and i know i know. why listen to my mom? well as of now, i dont have my own job so its not my money im spending on my clothes. haha.
guest
I used to dress that way in high school, but it was a lot more toned down than today’s goth clothes. It was very hard to find nice pieces that didn’t feel like a trashy Halloween costume. All I really wore was the boots, black attire, and heavy eye makeup. (I still haven’t given up the eye makeup, though. I feel naked without it) Any more it looks completely over the top, and I just want to ask the girls prancing around the mall in their garb to please change their clothes. They’re bordering the line between scary-cute and jailbait.
guest
I’m all for it. Goths are interesting people.
guest
I think it’s amusing that you are one of those poser people who isn’t really GOTH. Calling it “gothic”, is really not correct. Gothic is a type of architecture. GOTH on the other hand is a lifestyle and a type of style that some choose to live by. Calling yourself “gothic” is just like those people who wear the earrings that are regular piercing gauge, (usually a 14), but look like 0 gauges. I think shit like you’re pulling here, calling yourself gothic is just like fucking black face. Get your own style, or at least know how to fake it you fucking poser. I really wish I could press a button and it would punch you in the face through the internet.
guest
hottttt!
guest
can we say tacky to the max? i’m sorry but that style comes off a bit trashy to me. i know the outfits are elaborate, but too many confused 14 year olds dominate that look for me to ever appreciate it.
guest
I really like the style, but I don’t think I could wear it everyday.
guest
Detailed, artistic and pretty, but not the style for me. (I hate those huge platform shoes though)
I’m more loose bohemian style…casual. Large blade over shirts with a white tank and some black jeans fits me perfectly.
I could not wear those tight corsets and other clothings though. I like the freedom of movement way too much. And such a beautiful look all the time would drive me crazy as I couldn’t run or jump and do anything without feeling like I’m messing it up.
But I may just be lazy. Haha.

October 31st only comes around once a year for a reason. Im really unsure how people can take themselves seriously wearing that stuff around all day every day. Don’t get me wrong, although i would never wear any of it personally I have a strong attraction towards a lot of women wearing goth or goth type stuff (Corsets, fingerless gloves etc.) but its when people start dressing like what’s his face from Grandma’s boy that its crossed the line! WTF is with those boots by the way
guest
Nope nope and nope.
guest
not for me
guest
i love it, and i would be goth, but my personality doesnt exactly fit it
i love all these outfits, but like everyone says, nowadays they’re considered costumes
recently ive been considering dressing up gothic style, but i would wear a more modern version, such as black pants and a black tank top with gothic designs
guest
gothic lollita…… man.
guest
I absolutely love the lace gloves and detailed headbands. oh i would wear those a lot.
guest
the only good one is the first one
guest
#’s 1, 3, and 5 i dig. especially 3. the other i usually find tacky.
but hey, to each his/her own. other than that i usually like it some
people can pull it off really well.
guest
I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE the gothic style. especially victorian-goth
guest
Used to do that in high school about 10 years ago. Kids poked fun and laughed at me, but I continued to be me. I don’t exactly dress that way anymore, though I still love the styles.
guest
I love it, but I don’t think I’ll ever go all-goth in an outfit. The style really provokes the imagination, though, because it’s so unique.
guest
goths just kinda strike me as… attentionish, whorey, whiny people. maybe thats just me but why the need to look so fucking stupid and “different”? i dont want to dress like everyone else so im going to dress like everyone else that doesnt want to dress like everyone else.
orchid / 173 posts
I think gothic makeup and jewelry is just a bit too excessive. But that purple corset is pretty figure-flattering. I like the black and the lace of gothic fashion. I think.. that`s it ;]
guest
I liked and still like the elegant style in pic #1 a lot since I was little. In our neighbourhood, there lived an elderly woman with really long white hair who always dressed like this (not that black, though)~
guest
Gothic is nice if it’s done right. A bunch of people throw in some gothic knockoff object and expect that it’ll work, but it doesn’t.
A big part of Gothic is in the personal style of the person wearing it. You need confidence and self-assurance to pull off Gothic. You don’t wear it because of the “cool underground community,” you wear it because it suits your style.
guest
I love the all-black/metallic goth look; if I had time, money, and sewing skills I would love to make my own warderobe of goth versions of historic costumes. I tend to find that a monochrome palette for clothing helps me focus more on the shapes, textures, and fabrics; it’s astonishing what you can do with just one color. Ah, for money and sewing skills….
guest
The first look you featured is Gothic Lolita. That look is great, but kinda silly on the wrong person. You have to have a very youthful face and body to pull off that style beautifully.
My opinion of the style of gothique itself, is beautiful romance. It’s a play of lace, corsets, taffeta, silks, ribbons, high heels, waist cinchers, and parisols.
I do love the “gothique” style of clothing.
I love how you included that “goths” do not only wear black. So many people have yet to get this through their head.
Dressing in what you could call stereotypically “goth” I was kept very, very warm in the winter time. Also in the summer. Hehe.

I’m not fond of the clunky shoes, and I don’t really like the hair styles and fingerless gloves. However, I love corsets, and I love love love that dress in the first pic. If I ever wore a dress like that, it’d probably be the happiest day of my boyfriend’s life (he’s funny like that. He likes skimpy lingerie and all, but he absolutely adores Victorian-style clothing). Where do you get stuff like that?

i have number 5 skirt but its a bit longer. I love number1 tho, i think gothic lolita is the best, cyber goth is cool, but its a bit scary sometimes (depends on whos wearing what, and how there wearing it) x

I am a Christian southerner and I LOVE the gothic style!! It’s amazing. For the moment I am semi-goth.

That first dress is way cute! It’s simple and yet elegant. I don’t think I’d be able to pull it off but I think you’d definitely look gorgeous in it.
