Everyone has strange makeup tips. I read that one celebrity’s makeup artist uses bleach for eyebrows.
My own weird trick is that I use lotion as an eyebrow shaper, because I don’t have very visible eyebrows.
What’s your strange makeup trick?

The funniest I’d done was to use my dark brown pencil liner to draw a cindy crawford mole at the corner of my mouth :p

It’s probably not strange, nor is it exactly a trick… but I do not layer makeup on my face. People who do layer it tend to look very fake and cakey. I don’t understand why makeup things tell you to put like 4 layers on… it doesn’t look good

I brush my lips with a toothbrush before I put on chapstick/lip stain/etc. It makes my lips soo much softer & the color lasts longer.
Also, Udderbalm (what farmers use on cows) is the BEST for soft feet & hands. I put in on before bed & sleep with socks on, and when I wake up my feet are flip-flop ready.

my makeup trick is to wear none at all

It was hard finding a good liner pencil for me because they were like dry so I would use a lighter from the hurricane box to melt the tip then line my lips after it cooled. That’s more old than weird since the liners nowadays are way better.
@katiwitz@xanga - That sounds interesting…Where can you buy Udderbalm?? Vasentine is good but it’s very greasy & stains & specialty creams are expensive for me right now

The only trick I have is using my blowdryer to heat up my eyelash curler… but I’m sure everyone does this lol.

If I forget my eyelash curler when I go home from school I’ll use a
spoon to curl my eyelashes. It’s more effort than just clamping down on
them with a regular eyelash curler but it does the trick.

how do you use lotion as an eyebrow shaper…

I draw in a part of my eyebrow that’s mysteriously missing, probably due to misguiding plucking as a youth. Even boyfriends (who are obviously up close and personal) have been shocked by this confession so I’m guessing it’s pretty convincing.
@thesmittenmitten@xanga - haha, I had a friend who used to do that, but it was with black liquid eyeliner, and a small dot underneath and to the right or left of one eye.
guest
I do layer my makeup, but what I layer are both very thin layers- one liquid makeup and then powder. I like to put a tiny bit of light shadow just under the arch of my eyebrows, I think it helps me look a little more awake.
Don’t wear makeup most days, but when I do, nobody can really tell… just makes me feel special that day
guest
@black_lie@xanga - I wish!
guest
instead of buying expensive oil-blotting papers, I use those thin toilet-covers from public bathrooms.
works just the same
guest
i bet a lot of people do this, but i put blemish cover-up underneath my eyes because i get really dark bags. the difference is amazing.
guest
i add a drop of moisturizer to my foundation before applying it.

If i can’t find any mascara, I use vasaline
hydrangea / 51 posts
I don’t own eyeliner; instead, I wet a thin brush and rub it in my darkest eyeshadow then paint it on. It’s a lot easier to get it straight and it always matches my eyeshadow because they’re part of a set.

Eyes drops mixed with eyeshadow makes a great liquid liner. Also use eye drops to calm pimples when they pop up
guest
I use plain sugar mixed with a bit of vaseline to exfoliate my lips. Leaves ‘em super soft. ^^
guest
@amissong@xanga - Haha, me too.

I have tons of these (off the top of my head):
* to use my eyeshadow wet I use contact solution which makes it last longer and look more pigmented.
* i heat up my eyelash curler with a hair dryer
* i also use udderbalm for lotion haha!
* toothpaste at night for pimples
* add a couple drops of nail polish remover to nail polish to get the extra mile out of your favorite bottle
* l use art brushes (loew cornell from michaels) instead of makeup brushes- same quality as compared to MAC brushes and WAY WAY cheaper

I use a gluestick (think Elmer’s Glue) to cover my eyebrows
…..it’s cheaper and healthier for your skin that wax sealant! I overplucked my brows when I was a teen, and now have an irregular shaped brow, so I cover the weird parts and re-draw. The purple sticks work best as they dry clear, making it easier to know when you can apply foundation over it.
guest
Not sure if its weird or not but I use a regular hair comb to separate my lashes after using mascara
I want to try that Udderbalm thing because my feet get so dry when I’m wearing flip-flops (even when I apply lotion regularly). Is it expensive? x)
guest
Hm.. nothing?!
I don’t put on that much makeup and I ain’t that great either.
guest
yeah whats udderbalm?
guest
I use cinnamon flavor from micheals in my lip gloss to plump my lips my top lip is skinny hah.

You can get Udderbalm at any farm supply store. If you live in Wisconsin, Illinois, or Iowa I know that Farm & Fleet carries it. I used to work there, so that’s where I bought it. I’m sure you can order it online, too. It’s fairly inexpensive.

My face is extremely sensitive to sunlight. Odd, since the rest of my body NEVER burns. Before I go to the pool or to the beach, I mix a dime size drop of self tanner to my foundation. It doesn’t make you look orange, and it doesn’t stain your face, however, it gives you a natural glow.

@Phwo0osh@xanga - it’s very cheap, I’d say about $7 tops at somewhere like walmart

I forgot a super creepy one of mine: chaffing gel from monistat (non medicated) for a primer. Yeah, really, the stuff from monistat haha! It’s supposed to be comparable to like smashbox primer but is only $6.
guest
i should try that! andi dont think i have any weird beauty tricks
guest
@ClassyCourtney - mmmhmm! many of my friends do this and its supposedly even better than smashbox since smashbox is silicone based and can cause breakouts!

the little fan that emits heat on the side of my laptop is perfect for warming up eyelash curlers!! just the right amount of heat!! i’ve tried using my hair dryer to hear up my curler before but always i end up hurting myself…..
what i do with the fan on my laptop is, once u start ur daily makeup routine u place the eyelash curler right beside the fan, then when ur done with most part of ur face it will be ready!!

I use cheap clear mascara to shape my eyebrows because I would some time have bad mornings and some hairs would be *doink!* out of place, or flipping the other way or whatever! So I would apply some cheap clear mascara on to my eyebrows. I use NYX; I was bored and bought it because I was thinking, “Clear mascara?” It was only like..$1-3 bucks at some store counter.
And if I have flakey lips, I would gently brush them with a toothbrush.

well, I’m super pale…. so in the winter when im VERY pale [i don't faketan] i put a bit of bronzer on both my cheeks and my temples and then i put a finishing powder over my face [no colourr]. other then that, i use lemon juice as a natural astringent. once daily. sometimes i skip a day. sometimes i just put it on where i see i see a zit forming. it’s wonderful.
also, this isn’t really a beauty tip exactly, but if i think i might be getting sick or if all of my friends are sick then i put [lots of]chopped/shredded garlic in olive oil and let it sit for the day and then before bed i rub it all over my feet put on a pair of socks and go to sleep.
i haven’t gotten sick yet since i started doing it. i’m usually sick everytime my friends are but the last time i tried it, they were all sick and i wasn’t. apparently garlic is a natural antibiotic and your feet are the best place to put it. works for me so far anyways!
@TheLoveMuse@xanga -thats exactly what i do. i haven’t used a stick eyeliner in years.
@tubbz87@datingish - well i certainly have never heard of this!!!

I used to put concealer under my eyebrows to make it look cleaner, and apply an icy-vanilla shadow over the concealer as a highlighter.
I now have Lorac’s Double Feature… It’s a concealer stick and liquid highlighter in one. It works very well

BIGGEST tip for nice cuticles on hands – DO NOT cut your cuticles!!!!
My mom did nails for years, and I’ve done it before too. Your cuticles
are there to protect your nails so if they get injured (like cut!) then they will grow out further because they think there is a threat to your nails. If you just push it back GENTLY!!! and keep it moisturized, they’ll recede on their own.
And I keep mine nice soft and moisturized by putting vaseline on it at night, and throughout the day too. BELIEVE ME it really works!
My weird beauty trick is just using an extra mascara wand to separate my lashes after apply each coat – two coats for me is enough. And depending on what brand of mascara – I either let it dries first before the second coat – or I apply the second coat before it dries or else it won’t turn out good.
Crushed aspirin mask with a drop or two of honey to clarify and moisturize my face.
Vaseline on my hands and feet at night, wearing socks, and wake up with nice soft hands and feet.
guest
not my trick but some people use monistat anti-chafing gel as makeup base because apparently it controls oil really well!

I spray evian water on my face after putting on makeup. It apparently helps the make up last the entire day!

* ALWAYS wear moisturizer before applying foundation so your skin doesn’t get dehydrated
*NEVER use your fingers to rub foundation, use a foundation brush or use a sponge (soak it in water first) trust me its worth it!
*ALWAYS apply sunlotion no matter what the weather before applying makeup
*Drink plenty of warm water to keep skin glowing always
*ALWAYS take makeup off before going to sleep as it can realy damage your skin and will make you buy more makeup to cover the damage so no matter how tired you are, just do it!!
*To get fuller lashes use an eyelash curler before mascara, trust me it make a MASSIVE difference!
*After applying foundation & concealer apply loose powder all over your face to keep makeup in place
*Get a bronzing powder and highlight your cheekbones and the templates of your forehead to contour your feautures
*Exfoliate your face atleat once a week to get rid off dead skin cells
*Apply a bit of white eyeshadow in your tearduck (eyes) to make eyes look bigger
*Apply a bit of blush on the apples of your cheeks by smiling to make you look more lively and ONLY apply to the apples of your cheeks!!
*Last but not least dont wear makeup ALL the time, have some makeup free days, you need to let your skin BREATH!!
xoxo
