One of my favorite things to do is perform a little t-shirt surgery on some of my boyfriend’s old band shirts. He’ll give me all the ones that are too small, but I’m a small girl and I like to make them a bit more girly. I found this great tutorial to turn a regular t-shirt into cute girly one that shows off my shoulders.
Have you ever performed T-shirt surgery? How did it turn out?

I tried once, but it didn’t turn out right at all… The original shirt was just too big, I cut off too much, and all of it was very experimental.
That one you did is very cute!

Love what you did to it.
And I love Atreyu.
If I tried to perform t-shirt surgery, I would end up killing it.

This is so cute! I think i’m going to go give t-shirt surgery another try today. I have that generation T book, but I’ve never made anything look cool.

Very cute. Maybe I’ll try that sometime. =]

i’ve always wanted to try t shirt surgery of any kind, but i’ve never gotten the courage to ruin a shirt, shitty though it may be… maybe one day! instructables has a lot of great t shirt altering instructions. i’ve never seen the cut you’re wearing, it’s cute.

I might do that to a Dexter t-shirt that I have, it’s too big though so I’d probably have to take it in.

I’m always itching to modify my t-shirts, but I don’t have the heart to because they just have..sentimental value. Dance class shirts, club tees…I just can’t bring myself to hack away. But I do cut up other garments, hoping to use the remaining pieces in sewing projects.
I like what you did with your shirt =]

most of the time i do t-shirt surgery, i would just cut the neck line to make it wider and wear a tank top underneath it so i can wear sweats with them for my dance class. it has that more relaxing feel to it, but still girly (:
personally im too scared to cut band t-shirts lol but good work on the atreyu shirt (:

I luv it! I too use that method with all my band shirts just to give them that seeexxxxaaaay touch

THAT looks fab on you, but I don’t think I could ever pull it off. I did do it once to a shirt I once had…. but at the end I threw it out/

You did well! I’m so scared of doing that to my shirts and ruining them….

it looks really cute when other people cut up their t-shirts, but when I try it it looks really…intentional. Lol. So I just have to buy mine pre-ripped.
guest
i like it, but i’m not a very good, uh, t-shirt doctor.

cute!!

I’ve done it. It’s a fun and easy activity that customizes usually boring t shirts into something cue and new. It’s really big on college campuses, too, to make dresses from your university t shirts which I’ve made a lot of for my sister who is a freshman right now.

That’s a cute shirt! I love the band too. I’m definitely going to try this on one of my shirts now!

Your t-shirt turned out super cute, I want to do that to a couple of my shirts, but I DEFINITELY need a tutorial :0)
guest
That looks great! I think I’ll try that style.
I’ve done a t-shirt surgery before and it’s come out relatively decent. But there are some styles I’m afraid to try because I don’t want to mess them up and completely butcher my t-shirts.

I’m gonna try this out!

I tried this, Cut it too long on the sides, but I fixed it by tying it to fit my body :] Looks really cute now!

I did it once with a large V For Vendetta shirt. Since I was an extra small shirt size, I cut a narrow (inch wide or so) rectangle down from each sleeve, and then cut horizontal slits on either side of the missing rectangles. I then put on the tattered shirt, tied each of the horizontal slits together on each side, and then weaved the removed rectangle over the tiny knots.I did a similar job to the sleeves. The finished product looked really different and new, in a good way, sort of like the shirt was woven onto me. I was quite pleased.
