I was inspired by the Lovelyish post, Soundtrack to My Week. It made me think about music and how it can completely change one’s state of mind. I thought about beauty and aesthetics and how the right dance music can completely transform me into feeling my most beautiful.
We are all beautiful for our own unique personas, but I think that dancing to the right music that strikes a chord with you can make everyone feel amazing — happier, healthier, and more beautiful. I am at one of my happiest states when dancing, and I think all Lovelyish readers should go out and dance to their own ‘soundtrack of the week’ as soon as possible!
As a society we do not take enough time to celebrate our bodies and personal beauty through such a positive activity as dance.
My personal picks for a dancing soundtrack are the following; please do try them all!
“Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger” by Daft Punk
“You Spin Me Round (Like A Record)” by Dead or Alive
“Lust for Life” by Iggy Pop
“Stress” by Justice
“Hot N Cold (Bimbo Jones Remix)” by Katy Perry
“Le Disko” by Shiny Toy Guns
“Blue Monday” by Orgy
“Boyz” by M.I.A.
Do you agree; do you feel beautiful when you dance?

As I danced for 15 years mainly ballet but also jazz, modern, contemporain dances, yes, Dancing make me feel good and beautiful. We feel the music in our bodies, like a flux of energy and joy, beeing one with music… I love !

I have danced for about 10 years so far and I am still dancing. I LOVE IT. It does make me feel beautiful, especially when I perform and all eyes on me! i love it, when you dance you don’t even care about anything but performing and you’re just lost in the music and everything. it really is amazing.

I’d like to learn dancing as a hobby, but no money yet
I’d like to learn ‘solo’ type of dance, so you don’t need another person.

I like dancing to my good old trance music (:

I question why we even feel the need to feel beautiful. I’d far rather feel effective than beautiful. And yes, they’re not mutually exclusive, but energies are only so plentiful.

Haha, dancing makes me feel more graceful, but watching the recordings of my dancing…not so much. It’s still fun, though! Haha =]

I love listening and dancing to music. It’s my medicine and it’s a constant reminder that things are okay and life isn’t always difficult.

I love the first two songs especially. I think a great way to feel beautiful is to be physically active. I don’t mean you have to lose weight or get buff to be beautiful, but doing things like running, swimming, and lifting weights always put me in a fantastic mood and make me feel better about myself.

i like the first two the most.
Music is so incredibly powerful… maybe more so then you even think.
have you ever seen a horror flick with no sound? not scary AT ALL.
has a song ever made you cry? what about a song with no words?
music affects me so much. in fact, i can’t read or pay attention to a conversation if there’s a song i know playing in the background. this includes all forms of music, especially classical music!

Gah ORGY?
The original version of Blue Monday is by the great band NEW ORDER. They also do amazing dance music…check out their old stuff (e.g. Bizarre Love Triangle) and new stuff (e.g. Crystal). Way better than Orgy.

@Nicola_Six@xanga - I know that “Blue Monday” is originally by New Order. I think both versions of the song are fantastic, but think Orgy’s version is better to dance to.

I totally agree. Whenever I’m done I just turn on some upbeat music, close my door, and dance my heart out! Definitely boosts my confidence level!
