How to put Faux Lashes on in less than 5 minutes:
Every girl wants long, luscious, sexy eyelashes but not everybody is blessed with them. I, myself, have been playing with faux lashes for quite a while and have come up with a few tips on how to put them on quickly and successfully.
Every girl wants long, luscious, sexy eyelashes but not everybody is blessed with them. I, myself, have been playing with faux lashes for quite a while and have come up with a few tips on how to put them on quickly and successfully.
The whole process only takes about 2-3 minutes once you get a hang of it, so using faux lashes is definitely a fast and easy way to instantly brighten up your eyes for a day of shopping or an evening out. Enjoy, and feel free to ask me any questions!
Start off with natural lashes
Start off with freshly made-up eyes and clean, natural lashes. Coat your lashes with mascara as usual.
Do not worry if it’s not perfect on your top lashes, the only purpose of the mascara is to act as a glue to hold the faux lashes and your natural lashes together better later. Lightly crimp your lashes after you put on the mascara.
Get your faux lashes ready
Get your faux lashes ready
These are the ones that I use. I got them from the Face Shop, $4 CAD. These are the best lashes that I’ve ever tried, much better than MAC lashes that cost 3 times as much.
I like them because they look very natural on, so natural that many people have actually told me that they thought I was born with them. Yea right.
SNIP SNIP SNIP
Unless your eyes are super wide, most people will need to snip the ends off of the faux lashes before applying. Faux lashes that are too long will poke the corners of your eyes and cause lots of discomfort!
The side where you snipped (this will be placed at the end of your eye).
Remember, the side where you made the cut (with longer lashes) should be placed at the end of your eye, while the side with the shorter lashes should end up at the front.
Lash Glue
This glue is included inside the box and is a very light glue that dries like rubber. You can actually easily peel it off with your fingers when it’s dried. It is white in color when it is wet but will dry transparent.
Put glue on faux lash line
A LITTLE GOES A LONG WAY. Don’t be greedy because you don’t want a thick line of transparent rubber on your lid when it’s dried. After applying the glue one, wait at least a few seconds for it to become semi-dry and sticky.
I usually blow air on it with my mouth to quicken the process before you place them onto your lid, or else the glue will be too liquidy and the faux lashes won’t cling on properly.
P.S: The reason why these lashes look like they have mascara on is because they are old. I usually only wash the lashes once every week. Washing them too much will damage the fibres, causing the lashes to break very easily.

Remember again, the side where you snipped goes on the end of your eye!
Putting faux lashes on ( II )
Use your index fingers to gently press the glued lash line onto your natural lash line, starting from the end of your eye towards the front.
“Blending” faux and natural lashes together
This will ensure that your natural lashes will be stuck together with the faux lashes, so that the end result will look more natural.
1/2 Done
Haha. Look at the difference! Now, don’t forget to do the other eye!
8. Put another coat of mascara onto the faux lashes after you are done with both eyes. This will make the faux lashes look more like your own.
Crimp Crimp Crimp
Don’t forget to clean your lash crimper after as some of your mascara will get onto it.
You’re done!
You can now do some last touch-ups on any smudges and retrace your eyeline if needed.
10. Taking the faux lashes off
When you get home, you can take those lashes off simply by putting some make up remover or vaseline onto your eyes, wait a couple of seconds, and your faux lashes should come off by themselves.
Try to avoid pulling the faux lashes off with your fingers without any make up remover or vaseline because you don’t want to risk losing some of your natural lashes. Clean your faux lashes with make up remover only if needed, and your lashes should last for at least two weeks!
Have you ever worn fake eyelashes? Did this help? What are some of your tips for applying faux lashes?

I absolutely love wearing them. I really need a better glue, but I heard of using liquid latex for lash glue. I’ll try that today.

Good post : )
@HollywoodTragicScene - Definitely. Duo, the most popular brand, is just liquid latex.

many youtube videos later, I still haven’t successfully put on a pair

you have lovely natural eyelashes, you look just as pretty without them. I’m all for make up, but I’d say, particularly in your case, fake eyelashes are quite a waste of time and money.

you do a great job of explaining step by step, thanks!

they look too fake..
you’re prettier without them.

i’ve never ever worn them, doesn’t it hurt to take them off since it’s glued?

Great post! I tried wearing falsies once but it wouldn’t stay on.

Thanks for this.

I wore false lashes once for prom but it was kind of uncomfortable since I didn’t know you have to snip them. They were thinner but around the same length as the one you used. One of my friends found out that I had them on and she said she thought I just found a really good mascara lol.

Are there different types of faux eyelashes? I’ve only used them once and my sister told me to throw them away after using it. They’re 100% human hair. Is that reusable/washable?

@bluebear2cute@xanga - no it shouldn’t hurt at all! if you put make up remover or vaseline on your eyes, the faux lashes should come loose by themselves! no pulling required.
@Meowmeowkimmaee@xanga - ooh what a waste! i don’t throw my lashes away after one use – i usually use the same pair for at least a week! if you take good care of them, they should last for a least a few times, and i don’t think mine are even made of human hair. if yours is human hair, they should last even longer and you should be able to wash them.

Thanks for this tutorial, I’ve always wanted to try using fake lashes but never got the chance to. Maybe one day I will, lol.

you look like ricebunny!!! XD you’re sooo pretty!! ngawwww
Everyone uses Fake eyelashes even those mascara advertisements in magazines. Just pay attention to the details next time you guys read Cleo or Cosmo and you will notice that the lashes are like perfectly even. Impossible if they were natural.

thanks for the tutorial.

Wow, I think I’ll give fake lashes a try!! I’d always been afraid to try them, this makes it look so easy though!!
guest
Um.
Only one issue I have with this, which is the fact that, after applying mascara, you are NOT supposed to use an eyelash curler. It rips out your natural lashes because the mascara will stick to the curler–not good if you ever stop wearing the false ones.
Plus…I’d rather go without fakes. It’s like wearing a push-up bra; some day, I’m going to get married. When I do, I will still have to take off my makeup at night and not wear a bra. The person I marry will be in for a shock.
So I just wear things that emphasize, not create!
Cheers!

damn…wasted five minutes of my life

they do make a difference but i think your natural eyelashes are very pretty already! they dont seem that short. i have really short eyelashes..but im too lazy to go through with the process of applying fake ones hehe.
I wish there was something where we could apply onto our eyelashes like mascara but it makes it grow a lot. that would be fantastic…whoever invents that will be rich! lol, thanks for posting this though..makes me want to try it for a special occassion.
guest
@Sage_and_Citrus@xanga - that’s why you marry a person who doesn’t care :]
guest
@stardustskye@xanga - If that’s the case, they shouldn’t care how you look in the first place, either. Either way, then, the fake stuff seems like a waste.

@happyobligations@xanga - Dear Unvolume, I just came across this blog posting and read it and read the comments. (Yours included – ha that’s why I’m replying, okay enough of that). There are two types of lashes synthetic and natural hair. Synthetic is another name for artificial or fake, as opposed to natural – which is real human hair. Any pair of lashes can be kept for as long as you know how and can take care of them. I have used a single pair for multipule ocassions up to about three weeks. They can be kept longer you just have to have some patience when cleaning them. Alot of times they can not be kept becuase they are either to lose or way to dirty to be cleaned (i.e. – glue stuck in between the lashes of the false lashes that can not be reached or removed). I use Palmolive dish soap to cleans mine just rubbing the lashes and soap gently in between my fingers. You also have to slowly and carefully pull of any extra glue that was left on the faux lashes before attempting to re-use them and glue them to your own lashline. I hope this helped and if anyone else here has any more makeup questions I am open to answer. I know this is not my blog and I hope the owner does not mind having sa random stranger give input.
