I have a little question that goes out to all of you tall girls: Where do you buy jeans?
I’m about 5’10 and have a thinner build, and it is near impossible for me to find jeans that don’t a) make me look like I’m wearing high-waters, or b) have the material sag in the butt area.
It’s quite frustrating to try on jeans and not be able to find anything that makes me feel good! I’m not what you would call upper class, so I can’t shell out 60-100 dollar pairs of jeans. The most I’ve spent on jeans was about $40 and that was expensive for me.
Where do you buy cheap, affordable jeans for someone who’s a little bit taller then the average person? Do you recommend any brands that have a comfortable fit?
guest
just buy them long (you know how they have them in long, short, regular).
you can even go to walmart and snag a pair of l.e.i.’s for $10 then rip a few holes in them so they look hollister-ish.

lucky brand jeans :] or bloomingdales (though it is rather expensive) or american eagle but the waist size might not fit correctly.

I’m 6’0 and wear a size 3/5 and I buy my jeans at Pacsun. they have a bunch of different cuts and different colors and they’re 2 for $55 which isn’t half bad – especially as they’re the only jeans that fit me so well. they’re amazing! good luck.

I’m 6’1″ and I’m like a 10-12 depending on the brand. But I found the best place ot buy jeans is Old Navy. They’re cheap and they come in all sorts of sizes, they’re also durable. I’ve found GREAT fitting jeans at Wet Seal. again very cheap. And always look for long, or extra long and if you feel they’re still lookin like high waters, go ahead and cut the hem on them.
since I’m tall I like to wear shorts more anyways. Showin off those long legs. oh yeah.

I’m about 6′, and I go to Vanity…they have inseams up to 37″.
The 35″s are AWESOME for me!
guest
I’m almost 5’9″, so I have the same issue and with spending the money for a pair that doesn’t even fit right…
I have been very satisfied with DKNY jeans I got at Macy’s. Their longs are about 2-3 inches longer for me I’d guess, and they last a long time. They have different styles/washes, so it’s nice. And you can get them on sale for $35… I think I even got them for under $30 one time when Macy’s had coupons off merch. So something to look into!
guest
i’m 5’10″ too, and i can’t say I have a “slim build” (i wear a 10) but i’ve had good luck at New York and Company. their “talls” are a great length for me, and because they’re made for a “woman’s body” (w/ actual hips and a smaller waist) they fit snugly where they need to. it’s nice too because the rise is like 3-4 fingers below the belly button, which isn’t high, but not so low-rise you have to constantly hike your pants up.
yeah, new york and company is good. oh and i bought my jeans on sale there for $15…. definitely worth it. originally they’re like $30, I think. And they have a bunch of different styles and colors too.

I am 6’0 and the only place i get my jeans from is Alloy.com because I don’t live close enough to the only store in my state, but they offer up to a 37″ inseam in girls jeans which is great! If you order them offline they fit like l.e.i. jeans so just order whatever size jeans you would normally where with you inseam, plus if they dont fit alloy has a great return policy and will even pay for you to ship them back.
xoxo- Kelli.

I recommend New York & Company. I’m about 5’10″ to 5’11″ and they have tall jeans that fit me great. Sometimes a little longer. Some cost $36.95 and $24.95. The sales are great. You can sometimes even find jeans for $3.99. X__X When they have sales you can always find bargains.
http://www.nyandcompany.com/nyco/browse/sub_category.jsp?selectedHowMany=41&categoryId=cat1100024&viewAll=true&featureId=&selectedSortBy=marketingPriority
Sale!
I’ve tried Gap. Gap works too, but sometimes you may only find it online. It’s more expensive though.
guest
I’m 5’10″ and usually a 12-ish…My favorites are Old Navy’s jeans, they break in really well and the longs are just about the right length. GAP works too, but they usually break my budget.
guest
I have quite the opposite problem, I’m 4’10″ and i can never find pants that are’nt too long, or that fit over my hips. I usually have good luck at a store like Kohl’s where they have a variety of brands, and, after trying on a few, i can usually find a pair that is manageable.
guest
I have the same problems that you have described. The best place I have found is Old Navy. They fit comfortably and they are not too expensive! They also offer different cuts to suit your body shape.
orchid / 160 posts
I have somewhat of the opposite problem, being 5″1′ but I know that a delias.com they have up to a 37″ inseam. Their regular prices might be a little pricey for you, but if you sign up you could get some cool web exclusives and coupons and save a lot on their clearances (I myself almost never get anything at the regular price). Other stores that have the long option: Kohl’s, PacSun. Hope you find some good jeans.
guest
Dang, you’re lucky! I’m so short, my pants always have to be hemmed.
daisy / 501 posts
I recommend Seven jeans. I get mine at Marshalls where they usually have a lot for cheap prices. I’m shorter, but they are always long on me so maybe they are good for taller people!
sunflower / 359 posts
Delia’s, Pac Sun, Old Navy. Look for the stickers that say tall. Especially at Delia’s. I got a pair and it fit me a bit too long and I’m 5’7″. If not, go to a store, make sure the pants fit you great everywhere else, then go online and there they have more options for lengths. Get the same pair, the same size, with a longer inseam.
sunflower / 359 posts
@Kelli630@xanga - If you like alloy, try Delia’s as well. They have very similar things, just a bit different.
guest
I usually get mine at Wal-Mart..like for me, I can wear a 14 but since I am tall I have to get a 17 tall…so I understand where you are coming from. They are also cheap and comfortable, and thats always a plus!!!
guest
I’m about that height, but I’m hipper so it’s hit and miss for me alot of the time. It’s tough finding jeans… I usually have to go a size up.
orchid / 129 posts
@icarusescaped@xanga - I love going there too for jeans since I’m 5″11!!
orchid / 207 posts
I don’t know about being tall but being short makes it hard to find jeans and other clothes too. I am 5 ft tall and even the short jeans are too long. I have to spend $30 or so dollars for the jeans then another $15 to get then hemmed. And it isn’t just pants either, shirts, dresses, jackets, all to long. Not to mention shoes. I wear a size 5 or 5.5 extra narrow and shoes simply don’t come in that size. Unless I buy children’s shoes and then I just look dumb. Unlike pants you can’t change the length of a shoe.
Right now I have 2 pairs of jeans that fit and most of my shoes are to big because that is the only size they come in. I have a size 6 in converse and my toes barely reach the white rubber cap at the end.
guest
I’m pretty average, at 5″7-5’8″, but my legs are way too long for regualrs. American Eagle jeans work perfectly if you buy the long inseam and if $40 is too much, just wait for a sale! I usually wear True Religion or Seven for all mankind just because they’re perfectly cut!
Don’t think of price as a big deal. Just wait for sales! Zara may be your best friend for pants/jeans.
guest
I have just the opposite problem! I’m 5’4″ and all the jeans I find are way to long so they end up dragging. If I do by some that fit length wise they always ride really low so my butt hangs out! It’s never win win. Jean shopping sucks!
guest
how could you have a hard time? im average build, 5’4 and i have to tailor my jeans EVERY time ! >< i wish i was taller.. lol :S
i bought two pairs of Guess jeans on sale before, $25 and $40.
i buy the rest of my jeans at ariztia, holt renfrew, saks, etc . i srsly recommend investing in a good pair of high-quality jeans. they last way longer, feel a lot more comfortable and trust me, definately fit you better.
guest
Sometimes at Macy’s you can find Lucky jeans on sale. I snagged a pair for 35.
guest
CHARLOTTE RUSSE. they have long sizes and they’re pretty thin too. right now they’re having a sale and they’re $20 but usually they’re $29.95
hydrangea / 57 posts
I’m too short.
Jean shopping is definitely not my favorite. I really think they should just make jeans in ALL lenghts! Who dictates what is “tall” or “short”? They should just have all lengths in all styles.
But I realize this isn’t exactly business practical. Oh well. Off to the taylor I go!

@icarusescaped@xanga - I second this, Vanity is the place to go!
guest
I hate the butt sag!! I like the Flirt jeans I got at Old Navy recently, because they have a cute, flattering fit. And as other people mentioned, they do sell short and tall jeans. They also sell really long, nice jeans at a store called Zara… I went to one in Italy, but I know there’s at least one in NYC now too, not sure about anywhere else in the States.
orchid / 127 posts
My sister has this problem and she shops at Old Navy, the gap and/or Steve and Barrys where they have the BITTEN line by Sarah Jessica Parker….All have decent prices….me on the other hand…Im short…but its still difficult to find jeans because most jeans are super long on me, and I cant wear them with a cute pair of heels like most girls choose to.
sunflower / 295 posts
im tall..but not super skinny. i found some good jeans at GAP
guest
i’m 5’7.
i have jeans from charlotte russe. they have pretty inexpensive jeans. they have regular and long.and even forever 21 has sales on jeans sometimes. i once got a pair for $12!
guest
I have a similar—but different—problem. I am over 5′ 10″, but am a plus-size woman. Live in a small town, and it is impossible to find tall plus-size jeans! I have one pair from years ago, but cannot get them anymore. I have found places online like Lane Bryant that sell plus sizes, but I won’t buy jeans unless I can try them on—-they all fit so differently! So, I just wear sweats and slacks, and some stretch denims with elastic wait I have found. But it would be nice to have a nice-fitting pair of jeans again!!

hey!
Im 6’3″ and have a 37″ inseam. BOY is it hard to find jeans.
BUY AURA from the women at wrangler
They’re a good brand: Wrangler, and a good quality jean. I wear mine for up to 3/4 years, and they still look great
You can specify inseam AND waist size AND rise, they have a special design for women’s build.
beautiful, classic, bootcut jean
guest
If you want them to fit really well, it’d be wise to shell out $100+ at least once to get some damn nice pants that will fit you perfectly.
However, there’s a store by the name of Rue21 that sells really inexpensive clothes that come in all sizes, so you’ll find stuff for you there.
guest
I get my jeans from American Eagle. Well actually, I get my jeans at Goodwill but they’re American Eagle brands.
guest
For me, i’m 5’4 and sometimes when i buy jeans they’re either too short or too long, so i just stick to skinny jeans.
guest
Im sort of tall, but mainly Im a size 2! So by the time the jeans become my size in the waist, they are too short! I go to JC penny’s and look for longer jeans, (lots of trying on) and eventually I find something that fits lenghth and butt wise. They always have great sales too.
guest
Definitely PacSun. They have great jeans and many times they sell 2 for $50.
And the jeans they carry come in short, regular and long.
guest
unfortunately, you have a model’s body haha
which means top designers specialize in clothes for you
im 5’6 but only weigh 95 lbs so i have to go buy premium denim at boutiques and stuff…
i blow about $100 on jeans but they last FOREVER… you really get your moneys worth. i just dont think theres a point to spend $40 on a jeans that dont fit and im going to hate because of the butt sagging
id save up and get something youd love
guest
My best friend is about 5’9ish,
and we buy jeans from Charlotte Russe. They are about 30 dollars, but
the jeans are ALWAYS on sale ! I’ve always had the same problem with jeans also. Either it fits perfect in the waist and the legs are too big, or the waist is too small/big and the legs are perfect. I tried on CR’s jeans, and I wanted to cry ! They fit so amazing !! Hope this helps !
guest
I myself am not very tall..but I have noticed places that have some nice, reasonably priced jeans.
I like Rue21′s jeans, you might have a “Forever21″ but theyre the same thing basically…anyways, they make alot of skinny jeans, and alot of them are very long. And them being skinny the fabric doesnt sag anywhere. And theyre usually about 20$ a pair, but they have a lot of sales, I got 2 for 20$ one time, so id look there.
Also, they do make sizes in long, like you look for your size and I think they come in long, regular or slim. A lot of different stores have them like that. Ive noticed Old Navy has all of their jeans like that, well im pretty sure. And their prices arnt that bad either.
Good Luck shopping !
guest
kohl’s “so” brand extra long slim fit
guest
same goes for short people. D: i feel your pain.
guest
I have that same problem.
Except I am not thin, nor neither am I plus size.
I am curvy with a booty, so that makes it even more harder for me to find jeans that fit!! I can’t shop at Gap, or Forever 21, or Pac Sun for jeans cause their sizes are too damn small!! And I can’t shop at plus size stores cause their jeans are too big!! GRR!! Lol.
First, I have to find jeans that aren’t high waters and then I have to make sure they hug my ass and hips perfectly, which is usually ALWAYS impossible. The jeans are usually one or the other or neither. So I then usually always end up having to settle for less and have to choose between either buying the high water jeans or the “butt sag” jeans.
I usually end up buying the “butt sag” jeans
Most of the time, the jeans that fit me decently are Levi jeans and L.e.i. jeans or any jeans that have the “short, medium, or tall” options. They still usually have the butt sag, but it’s better than nothing.
I heard PZI jeans are best for curvy girls who are tall, but their jeans are so experience.
DOES ANYONE KNOW ANY GOOD JEANS FOR TALL GIRLS WITH BOOTY AND HIPS THAT ARE AFFORDABLE?!
guest
You know they make jeans with the size number and the word, “tall/long,” next to them? I see them around ALL the time. Short and small girls have a bigger problem, cause frankly, not that many girls are so tall to need pants with tall labeled on them, so there’s a greater abundance of them, but many are petite and whatever you want is usually sold out if you’re short and small.
guest
I think they’re Lee and don’t laugh but I got them at Walmart. My problem would be the legs being too long. Even the petite is a bit long but they do have tall. I accidentally grabbed a pair and they were really long on me. I could have turned them into footy jeans quite easily. The price is pretty good and they are comfortable.
guest
I’m 6 feet tall, and I buy my jeans at Vanity. They have good prices (around $20-$30…even cheaper during sales) and they fit me great.
guest
Old Navy, New York & Company, Wet Seal American Eagle (I bought jeans for $15 dollars from there!), or Delia’s.
guest
American Eagle long sizes, from $20-50.
guest
have you ever tried plato’s closet?
i got a pair of true religion jeans there for $70 (ok, so that was slightly expensive, but considering they retail for $300+), express/ae jeans for $20 apiece – they were both a “long” length.
it might require a lot of time to look but if you find something like i usually do it’s worth it.
for normal stores i usually get ae or express, since they fit well and most styles come in a long length.
guest
good places to buy inexpensive jeans that last for a good amount of time is wetseal, i dunno if u tried them already but they have long && old navy does as well but there jeans i wouldn’t expect to last that long… uhhhh also hollister, there jeans are 40 and up usually but it’s worth it because a majority of their garments are just denim and not to much mixed with spandex or anything. they have longer jeans
hmmmmmmm…. victoria secret does too i think, or there jeans are jus usually long anyway.
hope that helpd.
guest
i’m 5’9″ and i also have a pretty slim build. i usually get jeans through alloy, aeropostale, or old navy.
cherry blossom / 41 posts
Vanity. They have a lot of different inseams.
guest
http://www.candkclothing.com – email or call. They have a LARGE range of jeans and my friend gets her long-legged jeans from here. They are very reasonably priced too!
guest
Charlotte Russe Refuge brand. they come in long and they fit well, im 5′ 9″ and i wear a 7 or 9. you can get them on sale quite often for pretty cheap.
guest
I’m 4’11”. I wouldn’t know. I always just figured if they came in “long” that would be good enough. I have to hem all my pants. I swear I cut off about a foot. Maybe we can work something out. Hahaha.
guest
buying jeans is tiring for me also D;
guest
Finding jeans when you’re short is way sucky!!
I have to hem everything…or just walk on them.
guest
My friend has your problem, and she gets ALL her jeans in a jeans store in Colorado for “talls.”
guest
Pac Sun has great lengths of jeans that come in short, regular, and long, as well as lots of styles. Actually, they’re having a sale where they are 20 dollars for a pair right now.
guest
I’m 5’9 and wear an 18. So I feel your pain, but on the other end. I LOVE New York and Company. They are awesome. They have long sizes, and if you hunt their sales rack, in store and online, you can find some good steals. Wal-Mart is also good too. They just started carrying talls. And that’s awesome when you have a few stores to choose from. But I feel your pain. But NY&C is the way to go. And for your size I’d also try Limited and Victoria’s Secret. Hope I’ve helped!!!
guest
Stitches, $10, on sale, $25/$30 regular price.
guest
(35″ inseam!
)
guest
it’s the same when you’re short. trust me.
guest
Vanity.com, or a vanity store if you have one in your area. They have great fits and up to 37″ inseams. they are great, and inexpensive.
daisy / 734 posts
I’m 5’9 and a size 3/4- I go to delia’s for jeans. the “long” inseam fits me perfectly. if you get more than one pair, it’s buy one get one half off- so i always get jeans two pairs at a time. then it’s like i’m paying 30$ instead of 40$ a pair.
if there’s a store near you, go in and try them on- the one closest to my house carries every size imaginable, in every color. if i can find them, American eagle jeans fit pretty well too. (4 longs…) but i wait until they go on sale, otherwise they’re pretty much not in my price range (50$ is a little high…) i snagged a pair for 20$ the other day.
jean hunting used to be a pain for me too- just be patient when trying on jeans. and once you find a fit you really like, get a couple of pairs. then you won’t have to worry about jeans that fit well.
and remember where you got them. then next time you need jeans you’ll know where to look!
guest
I’ve got you on this one! I’m like 6′ and its impossible to find jeans.
Subscribe to Alloy catalogues, they have inseams up to 37″ for under $40
sunflower / 316 posts
I totally feel your pain – I am tall, pretty thin, and have no butt so finding jeans that fit and are comfortable is such a pain! I also have long legs for someone my height. Lately, I’ve had awesome luck with a brand called Hydraulic.
guest
HA! you think its ahrd for you to find jeans? Im 6’5″, and while I am a guy, it is ****ing hard to find jeans that are long enough. So far I have only found 4 jeans that fit good, and theyre starting to get pretty darn worn out.
guest
My problem is my hips AND my height. If I can get pants to do up over my huge hips, they are enormous and saggy around my butt and thighs. Thank goodness I’m pregnant and maternity jeans fit. Maybe I’ll just wear maternity jeans for the rest of my life. I’m 5’9 and, amazingly, these jeans are almost too long!
I have found some good fits at Old Navy and Target before I was pregnant though…
guest
I think i’ve got a pretty average height of 5’8″, but my legs for some reason are way long, so I have the same problem. I like my jeans to be longer than what they’re supposed to be, so. When jeans are just “long” it’s a ‘normal’ fit, I suppose. I usually get “extra long” whenever I can find them. But the thing is, the long jeans are typically in bigger sizes, that’s one of the main problems. On top of that, stores stock “petite” and “average” lengths way more. It’s annoying as hell, the world isn’t simply composed of people under 5’6″.
guest
well it sucks finding jeans when you’re too short.
i’m 5′ and always have to order mine online.
guest
it’s also sucks to buy jeans when you’re really short. ..sometimes the “short” jeans still arent short enough! =(
guest
It so is hard to find!. I’m 5’11 and I spend most of my time looking for jeans in the mall than anything else lol.
guest
wow haha if you are 5’10″ you can probably get away with getting the “long” at Old Navy. Im 6’1″, and most of thats in my legs, so theirs are still too short. Also I agree with the sister who was “hippier” – I have a booty, and it doesnt fit into a lot of pants well anyway.
Some people have mentioned Alloy and NY and Co, and those are both good. Buckle sells really expensive pants, but they are long enough. I have had luck with both jeans and slacks from the Victoria’s Secret catalog. I also buy slacks at The Limited. All of this is a little pricey, so I wait for sales. truth is tho, I only have 4 pairs of pants, because its expensive to be tall!
good luck!
guest
@ccarothers@xanga - you are tall and have a butt/hips? me too! I have had luck with wide-leg slacks and jeans from The Limited and Victoria’s Secret. They fit without gapping at the waist.
guest
Girly, your telling me it’s hard for you to find jeans. I’m barely 5’0 and I have to tailor my jeans. It’s not hard for me to find my size which is size 0 or kids size 12 or 14 depending on the store and brand. I just have a hard time fitting onto them because of the height. It’s long, haha! I always need to tell my mom’s friend to tailor my jeans.
I think you can try Forever 21, H & M, Macy’s when they have those semi annual sales. You can always try Nordstroms when they have those yearly and semi annual sales. They should have jeans that fit you perfectly. Victoria Secret’s came up with their own jeans brand called PINK, and I’m for sure they are long. They will probably have your size and height of jeans. That store is fit for talls and models.
guest
@StreetChaseNManhattan@xanga - at least you can hem them, but if jeans are too short you can do absolutely nothing, I would rather pay just a little extra and shorten them than going though an impossible jeans that are actually long and small enough in the waist to fit me..
so consider yourself lucky..
guest
I got the same problem although I’m 5’9 and usually a size 0 or 1. And i always go thought an impossible search of jeans that are actualy long enough for me and small enough in the waist. Especially living in Canada, the target market is mostly for average or short people.. I came from Europe and whenever i get a chance to go back i go for a huge shopping spree since the jeans there are made so much longer, it’s not Asia.

go to Sheplers.com and look for Auras.
You can choose your own inseam and rise for a wonderful “designed for women by women” feel. I swear by them.
The company boasts that the fit is so good, you order one size smaller. I’m usually a size 10 (at 6’3″), but I order a size 8 from them. They’re a little snug lately, but I can’t blame it on their sizing!! :S Time to get spring on the road, and back to the gym.
guest
my best friend is super tall and pretty thin, and the “emma jean” at buckle. the were 60, but she wears them all the time, they look amazing, and they have held up really well.
guest
For cheaper jeans, I say Delias (up to 37, but mostly 36 inch) and Alloy (lots of 37 inch jeans) are the best, with the widest variety. Topshop also has some super great, trendy tall clothes and now they ship to the US! I think they may be a bit more expensive though
You’ll probably have to order all these online, but bigger stores like this usually have super-easy return policies. I put a list of my favorite tall jeans on my blog if you want to check them out (the cheaper ones are near the top): http://redwoodlings.com/tall_jeans

Good luck! I’m 6’3 and a size 7 and I just googled “why can’t i find tall women’s jeans” and found you! lol! I’ve tried old navy…unless your a 0 or a 2 don’t bother! I’m so frustrated. I finally find a pair on some odd website that I would actually wear and they ended up being $168! I’m screwed.
