I know violence isn’t the answer, but I’d feel much safer if I had some pepper spray.
I work evenings, and I lock up. I feel really uncomfortable walking from the place where I work to my car, because usually, it’s the only one left in the parking lot.
Most people I ask say they got their pepper spray from their brother or their boyfriend.
I don’t have a boyfriend, and my brother works in computer science. He hasn’t come across it yet.
So, what do you do feel safer? Has anyone taken a self-defense class? Where can I get pepper spray?

I take self-defense and I also bought pepper spray. You can usually find it at a local gun shop.

You know, I’ve always wondered but I don’t know anyone with pepper spray so I’ve never really had the chance to ask. I hope whoever comments next has the answer. I wonder if there are any homemade alternatives…

I’ve heard that simple pepper spray can be made from rubbing alcohol and pepper, but I heard that a long time ago so I’m not sure…
Personally I haven’t done anything to feel safer when I go out, since I live in a pretty safe suburb. I might consider it sometime.

@UnVolume@xanga - Oops, you weren’t first.

You can find some at Fry’s Electronic Store. I know it sounds weird to buy it from an electronic store, but they have it.
Usually when I’m scared, I talk on my phone ’til I get to my destination. So if anything happens to me, the person on the other line will hear all of it.

you can go to…
1. http://www.trueswords.com2. look it up on the internet3. Go to a pharmacy
I personally do Kung Fu and Krav Maga. I say learn a bit of Krav Maga b/c it was primarily a defensive style where u minorly incapcitate the attacker and get the hell out of there. (google it for more info. I find it one of the most practical and useful styles for everyday life. teaches you against guns, knives, muggers, etc. or just youtube it)
best of wishes to you ms.

uh, i have no idea, sorry.. i carry a knife with me.

@DREAMstopLOVE@xanga - Talking on your phone isn’t necessarily a good idea –it can sometimes make you more of a target, since you aren’t paying as much attention to your surroundings. Not a bad idea to have police on speed dial and hold your phone ready though.
Taking a self defense class helps, but so does common sense. Pay attention to your surroundings –is the parking lot empty, or do you see sketchy looking people loitering? Try to park in a well lighted area and stay in well lighted areas. Don’t walk in places where you wouldn’t be visible (e.g. narrow sidewalks with trucks parked against them and a wall on the other side).
I think you can order pepper spray online –do check to make sure it’s legal, since different states have different laws regarding which pepper sprays can be carried. Also, the self-defense class would be good so that you can learn how to use the spray effectively, instead of your assailant taking it and using it against you.
Good luck!

You can get some from a gun shop. My dad bought me some for christmas. I work late at night as well and I usually wait for a co-worker to walk with me out to our cars, but we have a cop on duty who sits in the parking lot as well.
guest
I need some pepper spray too since I always walk home – even at 1am

I got mine at Sportsmart.

I work in a city with a pretty high crime rate and have a several block walk to get to my parking lot, so I ALWAYS carry pepper spray with me. Most of my female friends here carry it on them as well. I feel so much safer just knowing that I have it. I bought mine at a sporting goods store… Academy Sports & Outdoors. I think that it might be a Southern chain (I had never heard of it until I moved to the South), but you might be able to find it at Dick’s Sporting Goods. If there are any specialty shops in your area geared towards runners or bikers (as in people who ride bicyles, not Harleys)
, they usually carry pepper spray, too.

u can get anything on ebay!!!! -_-
guest
i’ve heard you can get it from an auto store like autozone if you have one like it around your area.

pepper spray is illegal in some states, counties, towns and universities, but most of the time they won’t bust girls for having it in their purse unless you’re misusing it. you might wanna check online how your area handles it though.
best thing to do is stay alert, and always, always lock your doors the second you get into your car. women are often targeted getting in and out of their cars…i love my keyless entry because in means i don’t fumble with my keys and i’m in my car with the doors locked nice and quick :3

I know I shouldn’t be saying this but… what does this have to do with beauty, makeup, and/or fashion?
guest
I purchased my pepper spray at Fry’s Electronics also. You can check your local community college, universities, or community centers for, often free, self-defense courses. Good luck!

I feel the same way about self-defense, and I actually just bought pepper spray yesterday. lol
I got mine at Fry’s Electronics for $3.49… and it came with a case too! I was surprised to find it there but hey, I needed it so I got it. Haha.
I also know that Big 5 sells pepper spray for $10. I was about to buy it there at first but waited until I found it for cheaper.

If anything should happen, the first option is to of course, run. But if you’re cornered, you just need to remember to SING (From Mrs. Congeniality) .
Hit the 4 most vital parts of your attacker for self-defense:
S – solarplex
I – instep
N – nose
G – groin
If you’re looking for self-defense, go with Karate or Tae Kwon Do. If you’re looking to inflict pain on attackers, go for Muay Thai or Brazilian Jujitsu.
Also, google pressure points. Trust me, they hurt like hell if you know where to hit the pressure points.
The people above me have listed places to get pepper spray, but if you still don’t feel safe, I suggest that you make a handmade taser out of a disposable camera. It’s possible.

Hope you feel safer at night!

that’s a really great question.

I bought mine at Big 5 Sporting Goods.
Funny thing was, my sister and I were walking around inside, looking for where they kept the pepper spray. When we finally gave up and asked one of the sales associates, he went to the gun section, unlocked a cabinet, and pulled out a nice selection of mace for me to choose from (there was a pink one!) And I thought, “oh yeah, these things can hurt people, that’s why they’re next to the shotguns…”
Hope that helped.

you can check ebay… or better yet, go to the nearest local gun shop ^^
I know how to defend myself but I still need a pepper spray ^^
guest
You have to go to a gun store, places like walmart and target dont carry it.

Well, I don’t know where to find pepper spray, but if you do get your hands on some, I have some advice for you: don’t spray it when you don’t need to, especially in small rooms! Someone I worked with had it on her keychain, and another guy didn’t know what it was and sprayed it… We all had to leave the room, it made us cough so bad. It’s not fun!

I bought mine at the Bass Pro Shops. They have really cute, small pink ones that you can carry in your back pocket. Plus, the proceeds go to a good cause (Breast Cancer Research). I used to work the grave yard shift and I carried it with me every where. Even during work. You just never know what kind of customers you might get in the middle of the night.

I’ve taken a self-defense class but hopefully I’ll never have to use what I learned!

hi you can order through the homesite of smith and wesson arms, and they have bullet proof wests and other preventive, goods to prevent a violent attack.
even though i live in peacefull area in denmark, i will have to wear a pepperspray through some territories in some places.
we all hope to grow up to a better place.
guest
Ranger Surplus stores usually have it
guest
Some colleges sale them! I wished I’ve gotten one sooner, and now I regret it cause i’m a nurse and I work long shifts and I get out late nights like 4 or 5 am in the morning!
guest
It all depends on were you live. In Washington state gun stores hardware stores are the best places. We have no laws to worry about regarding it.
We also have very easy access to concealed gun permits. That is my preferred option
guest
my best guy friend actually just googled where to buy some and he ordered some for me online and shipped it to me..
it’ might just be easier to do that.

if you do decide to bring a weapon of choice, just don’t put it in your bag. not everyone’s after the lady.
if someone snatches your purse, what the hell are you working with?
i usually keep those kind of things in my pocket, or if my outfit doesn’t have any, i make an area for it or use soemthing to attatch it to my thigh (sometimes a knife will do), like a leg garter. anything.
and then take self defense to top that off :]
guest
You can also buy it from PeopleProtection.com They have tons of pepper spray options as well as stun guns. And for the ladies, they have pink of probably anything you want as well as disguised stun guns and pepper sprays that look like phones and pens.
guest
@verified_but_still_denied@xanga - I do Krav too…or I used to :]
guest
You can buy them from electronic stores like Fry’s. They’re only $5. That’s where I bought mine.

You can also buy them from here cheap pepper spray!

Oh, thanks for letting me know where to get. My brother was almost robbed for his ipod by some ghetto thugs who then tripped trying to pull their baggy tacky pants up.
I like my ipod.

online just like you could buy everything else online these days.
