Yes, I realize they’re permanent. No, I don’t regret them. No, I won’t cover them on my wedding day which I’m sure will happen whether I have a tattoo or not, and yes I’ve been employed numerous places where they were allowed. Four of my five tattoos are noticeable to the public, and I’m not ashamed. I wear dresses because I can still be girly, I don’t like hardcore/metal music, I’m not gothic and my entire family thinks they’re awesome.
Why, in 2008, are people still shocked to hear all of this?
I agree, some tattoos can border on trashy looking, but it makes the person happy so who cares? Some placement of the tattoos warrant jokes (here’s to you, “tramp stamp”) and it’s understandable that you want to raise an eyebrow to those who have their significant other’s tattooed on them, but it shouldn’t be shocking. T.V has even taken to this trend and airs shows like L.A Ink, Miami Ink and Tattoo Stories. They’re everywhere, so why the stigma still?
So what do you think of tattoos; are they classy or trashy? Do you have a tattoo or know anyone who does? Do you/they ever get grief over it?
guest
Some people have horrible stigmas against people with tattoos and piercings. They kind of associate us with gangs and prison subcultures =o =;
But its still valid: a lot of places they won’t hire you or they’ll discriminate against you for it so don’t act like the world is all about justice because its not.
Still I rock my tattoos and piercings with pride =)

i love tattoos and piercings.
they are art and as long as they have meaning to you and you dont regret them there is no problem. I have two. they are small – one on my wrist and another on the inside of my ankle – and i intend to get more. the places i have worked since getting them haven’t had a problem with them. i have gotten looks and comments, but hey, it’s their own opinions.
i guess it depends on the culture.

Its like sex; its everywhere but there is still a huge stigma to go along with having it and those that are open about it.
Tattoos are just another way of expression, like piercing, writing, singing, hell, even clothes. People have every right to do what they want with their bodies. Granted there are some that are just trashy and really… not the best decisions (SO’s names, silly meaningless things like tribal designs, butterflies, people’s faces…etc) But i’ve seen some really great ones.
There is one girl in my class and she’s studying to become a Paleontologist. she got a tattoo on her calf of a Cambrian ocean. Its accurate and it shows her love for her work. I think its fantastic. I haven’t gotten any yet but I plan on getting one for my best friend who died, on the inside of my left wrist.
Good for you that you love and are not apologetic for your tats!
guest
i think it all depends. i’ve seen tatooes that hold special meaning and are actually classy, but i personally don’t understand the joy people find in covering themselves with ink.
the stigma still exists because there are still people that fit the tattoo stereotype, i guess. but i think it’s silly to lump people into groups for things like that…every person has their own reason for getting one, whether it be because they want to look hardcore, or because they want a memory to last forever.
guest
I admire those who are willing to get tattoos. I’m afraid of needles, haha.
A classmate once told me about how a former Japanese gangster (yakuza) became a teacher and had to use concealer on his face everyday so that he won’t lose his job. Why? Because as a yakuza, he had his whole face tattooed. So I guess in some societies, if you have a tattoo, you’re perceived as a delinquent.
I think it’s stupid to judge a person by looking at their tattoos. A few of my friends have tattoos and they’re harmless.
guest
I want tattoos, and my daddy has three, and I don’t think they’re trashy as long as they mean something to the wearer.
guest
classy..
i understand your point of view. i have 3 tattoos, one of them is my SOs name. i have a total of 11 piercings.
just like you. i dont dress like a goth. not really a big fan of metal music…
i can dress like a girl all i want as well..
and guess what my parents (and their friends) say..
omg.. whats worng w/ you. only bad people do that.
omg. are you a whore?!
whatever. i love tattoos. im planning to get more.
and more piercings as well..

I love tattoos! Thanks for subscribing(:

It can go either way. I think it is trashy to get meaningless tattoos. But if your getting inked for a purpose, because the tattoo means something…it’s okay.
guest
Yicky. I’m always awarded snotness for this, but I hate tattoos — though I “claim” I’m getting one. Perhaps it’s my paranoia kicking it… what if Islam takes over and I’m thrown into a correctional facility because I refuse. I’m going to have to be as blank as possible if I’m ever going to escape…
guest
I have one, plan on getting more once I have the money for it. My husband has many. Even my mom has one. I haven’t had any negative comments about mine.
It can be both. I’ve seen some gorgeous tattoos and some that are “WTF is that?!” (Including a 2 girls 1 cup tattoo…. *shudder*). I agree that it’s really up to the person the tattoo is on. If they love it, great! It’s none of my business if it’s not my skin. … Unless it’s really untasteful and my kids notice it.
guest
oh i love tats. my hubby has them but he doesn’t want me to get one. it’s something about spoiling my perfection, my virgin skin, whatever. so, whatever, i guess it’s not a big deal [yet] and i content myself to seeing my friends’ new ink [for the time being]. people are constantly surprised that i even like tats because i’m dubbed as being super classy. well, i think tats are classy [depending on what and where] and a cool fashion statement.
guest
@KarmasNemesis@xanga - Yeah i agree, man.
guest
i think tattoos have the potential to be classy. I mean this all depends on what kind of image you are branding on your body and where. I mean if you put a naked chick on your forearm for the whole world to see whether they want to or not, well let’s just say that’s pretty trashy in my opinion.
People have the right to govern their own bodies. So why not let them?

I love tattoos and piercings. I don’t have any tattoos but am planning on getting a few. I’m not a big fan of full sleeves but some people can pull it off. I have a total of 6 pericings and would like to get my nose pierced and maybe my lip too.

my geometry teacher in 10th grade was married to a tattoo artist. She had multiple tattoos and even her wedding ring is a tattoo. She works at a nice private school. Sorry the message got broken up.

I have one tattoo.. I absolutely love it and plan to get more.
My family are totally cool with it, except my plan to get a slightly larger chest piece.
I have a job where they don’t care about piercings and tattoos, but I admit my last job before that made me cover them up. It made me feel angry, as if they believed I should be ashamed of my ink and metal, which I am most certainly not.
I don’t understand why people who have been inked are looked down on. But at the end of the day, I don’t give a shit.

I admire tattoos when there is a meaning and a story to them. Bill Kaulitz is someone who I believe chooses to get tattoos for a purpose. However, there are some people who get a tattoo just to have one (“a butterfly is cute!”) and usually regret them, since they got a tattoo in a spur-of-the-moment and made a thoughtless and empty decision.

Tattoos can be both classy and trashy. It depends on the tattoo, the attitude of the person wearing it and the quality of artwork.
guest
It’s SUCH a pain covering up HUGE tattoos on for brides on their wedding day.
guest
It all depends on the tattoo and the significance/reason behind it. I personally wouldn’t get one, because I’m deathly afraid of needles… but I don’t personally discriminate against people who have tattoos (except for the “tramp stamp”… yuck!)

i have 3. it depends greatly on the person that’s ‘carrying’ the tattoo on them. if they as a person are naturally thrashy, then the tattoos on them will look thrashy.
i attended a conference once, and the speaker, a lady in a skirt-suit, spotted a sweet gecko tattoo around her ankle. i think that’s classy, she works hard, but she party hard too.
guest
Absolutely, 100% not trashy.
Sure if you got an obscene word or gesture tattooed in plain sight then it would be trashy, but not if it’s a symbol of something greater or more meaningful.

i love tattoos as long as there’s a reason behind it. not just some impulse thing that you regret later on. i have one right now. and it’s my north star – its a star on my wrist &i have it there to cover my scars and remember how i got out of the dark.
i have designs for more, just not the money. but i’ve planned them out for at the very least months, two of them are memorial tattoo’s ive designed and wanted for almost 4 years.
& for piercings – i LOVE them too :] i have quite a few, and just want the upper lip done to be the last one i get done. but i see a LOT of piercings that look SO cute on other people but not something i want. like i dont want my eyebrow done but i like it on other people :]
guest
Tattoo is never classy. Come on, it looks like you have a dirty sin that stick into your skin, it’s black, it’s painful, looks like youre from hell.
guest
i have three, and i love mine
i go to a very conservative college and i’ve gotten my fair share of looks and comments on my large back piece whenever it’s visible…but i’m employed by the college, my boss doesn’t care (she thinks its funny whenever i get another piercing/tattoo) my family has gotten used to me, and the people i’m around know that i’m more than my ink.
that being said, i’m awfully sick of people getting tattoos just for the sake of having one. every one of my three tattoos were thought out and have a very long story behind them that i’d be happy to bore you with
if you don’t think your ink through, you are going to regret it.
but whatever, it’s your body, you only live once
guest
i love tattoos, but it depends. sometimes they have a meaning and significance. Other times it could just be the spur of the moment.
guest
Wow you have a lot of comments!
People really say those things? That’s sad.
Okay, my take. I personally do not want any tattoos, but I have friends who have them. Honestly it’s not that big of a deal. If you have one, so what? If you don’t, so what? I think there are much more important things in life than to make issues out of tattoos.
Now, I don’t like the trashy ones, but my friends have some pretty neat ones.
guest
I would never get a tattoo. I don’t see it as “trashy”, but defiantly not “classy”. I just don’t understand people wanting something permanent on their bodies, but hey, it’s their body, not mine.
guest
I think tattos are a way to express your self. I have a heart with my initial in the middle than a bow on it on the back of my neck. and im thinking about getting a couple more. so if you as a person like them then it shouldnt matter what others say, its not there body to begin with.
by the way thanks for the subscribe, and friendship. <3
guest
I don’t own a tattoo, but I won’t mind seeing them around or getting one myself. But due to the fact that I have a reptition at my work place, I won’t get one myself.
I think tattoo’s are a creative work of art. They are pretty cool =).
guest
Yeah I have 5, my best friend and I even have matching one. We have been best friends for our ENTIRE lives.
I heard someone say recently that those of us, female of course, that have a tattoo anywhere were skanky and sluts. Wow! You have no idea how irritated that made me. I mean yes, some that have tattoos are trashy and skanky, some aren’t, most I know as a matter of fact. But the part that really got me was the slutty part, I thought whether or not you were a slut was based on what you did sexually not if you had tattoos, when I pointed out to her that some sluts have tattoos, and some don’t, while many woman who aren’t sluts have them, she had nothing to say.
Yes I agree some styles and even the placement of them can be trashy, but that doesn’t make us trashy. I too am girly and wear dresses, look and act like a girl.
guest
I have really subtle one. I like it.
I do agree that it is possible to go overboard with it. But some people can pull it off.
Maggie Gyllenhaal in Stranger Than Fiction, for instance (though it’s a fake tattoo, she pulls it off)…

all mine have meaning behind them (i have over seven), and i’ve designed them myself.. i think they’re pretty classy.

i really want some tattoos but i’m scared cuz i’m a wuss when it comes to pain :[
i think they can be classy in their own way but there’s a limit to it. i dont like it when ppl get their whole entire arm tattood. it looks weird. AND painful
guest
It’s not often that I actually admire a tattoo. They have to be done very well, and the person has to be able to pull it off while still looking classy.
Personally, I’ve been thinking about getting one for years, but I probably never will. I’ll never be able to decided on the exact design of my idea and the location.
guest
i love love love my tattoo. I only have one and I plan on getting at least 4 or 5 more. 2-3 might be substantially visible (i.e.- wrist) but they all hold a specific and special meaning to me. I love me some Jesus so all of my tattoos have to do with God.
)
And I plan on being a children’s pastor. With 5-6 “religious” tattoos.

Hm, I have mixed feelings about tats. I don`t like tattoos that are overdone. Just one or two simple ones leave a lot more meaning. Like, I wouldn`t get a tattoo of my boyfriend or something, because I do believe love isn`t forever. And although tattoos can be removed (barely), people should get tats that they wouldn`t regret having on their body & something they wouldn`t get tired of. That`s what ties in with what I believe in about just one or two simple ones. Everyone has a symbol that defines him or her. But it issss another form of art & I gotta give props to people who have such confidence in doing it & enjoy it & really do a good job at it.
guest
& of course, my comment was just what I feel about it. Other people have theirrrr styles & I`m not here to criticize or whatever about what they like.
guest
I have two of them and intend on getting at least two more. I know a lot of people who have them. When I first got mine I got a lot of grief about it because my first was in memory of two relatives that had passed and was told it was if i had a tombstone on my back. But I think that unless it is an excessive amount they can be classy.
guest
I have twelve tats and ten piercings. The piercings are pretty mild, my ears and my nose, but the tats are noticeable. But, I love the art I’ve put on my body and what that art means to me, so I just tell people that criticize: jog on!
guest
if done tastefully they are amazing. i have 3 and plan for many more.
some people try too sterotype all tattooed individuals, but its impossible each person is as unique as their set of tats

art is art. people are allowed to feel differently about it. opinions are warranted. not everyone likes the same things… and thats alright. the world would be a boring place without differences, creativity, individuality, let alone self expression…interpretive dance isn’t for everyone.

I have 3 tattoos and could care less. I love tattoos.

i have a tattoo. it’s on the back of my neck. and i got it cos it meant something to me, not because everyone in the world wanted one.
They can be both classy and/or trashy. but hey. beauty is in the eye of the beholder, right?
guest
not a fan, but I don’t discriminate.
guest
Depends on the tattoo and depends on the person.
I have plenty and will get plenty more.
sunflower / 331 posts
Depends what and where they are. Some girls can pull them off, on others, the tattoo just looks like it’s floating there with no purpose or connection to the person it’s on.
I’d like a tattoo, but nothing large. Probably something lyrical.
guest
i don’t have a tattoo. i’m scared of pain and needles, and am worried about getting a permanent mark on my body that i’ll regret later.
that being said, i am not against tattoos. there are some that look extremely trashy, but i have seen some that are extremely classy. i love when i see the girls with beautiful back pieces and a spaghetti strap sundress that shows it off, but totally girly at the same time. i think that’s incredible.
just my random view from someone with no tats.
guest
Tattoos are trashy if they’re in certain places and of certain things.
guest
I’ve never found them attractive, on either sex.
guest
Both my parents and I all have one, my brother has two. My step grandma (60s) and HER mother (in her 80s) both just got one! And then my grandma went back and got a second one within a couple of weeks! And she’s a pastor’s wife.
I don’t think they’re trashy, in and of themselves. Some can be very distasteful, though.
When was planning to get mine, I had several people tell me I would regret it. I’m young but I was 25 when I got it – old enough to know my own mind. And I got it somewhere easily covered (I’m a teacher and visible tattoos are not allowed in my profession, most of the time).
guest
I think they can be both. I have 2. One is in tramp stamp placement (although not a traditional tramp stamp) that is sometimes noticable. The other no one knows about unless I show them.
I think it largely has to do with the older generation – the negativity. My grandfather just doesnt understand them. And there is no way I can explain them to him.
tulip / 15 posts
My grandfather, who was in the Army, had a couple tattoos. And one of my relatives ( a few years younger than me) has two or three…I’ve lost count.
If my wife ever decides she wants one, that’s fine with me.
If my KIDS, while they’re in my house and under 16 or 18 decide they want one…”ask your mom.”

I really love tattoos, body modification, and piercings — so long as it’s for art and meaning, anyways.
I personally do not have any — yet.
The only time I’ve considered tattoos trashy, is when people got them to be “cool” or if they were on a shallow person.
”People adorned with cheap decorations”, comes to mind.
I suppose it helps that I was raised with half my family loving tattoos and the other half being neutral on the subject, lol.
There’s not a ton of tattoos out here in the sticks, but it’s not shocking when we do see ‘em (they even get squeals of delight by random girls, and gossipy whispers too).
guest
I’m getting my first tattoo soon. It’s my son’s name and footprints on my shoulder. I can have it shown at work, but probably won’t because I don’t wear tank tops at work. But if I ever get married, don’t care about it being shown, I want it shown. I want people to see it. My son was stillborn and I want the world to know about him, ask about him, speak his name. I don’t want him forgotten.
guest
I think body modifications are fabulous. I don’t have any tattoos yet, but I certainly have my share of piercings. I waitress with my monroe still in tact and surprisingly, a lot of elderly people find it cute. But you’re always gonna get those people who look at you funny or make judgments about you.
cherry blossom / 47 posts
I think some can look very unattractive but then there are some that are well placed on the body and aren’t tacky looking. Sure if it makes you happy then do it! I personally don’t like tats that are blatantly obvious but I think the little ones like on the neck or behind the ear are really cute.
Do what makes you happy. Why does it matter what society thinks anyway?!
sunflower / 272 posts
I personally do not have one, but I do like them. I plan to get one as soon as I get over this fear of needles. lol
Honestly they are neither trashy or classy. They are what they ae and that is a reflection of someone’s artistic desire and/or interests. Just about everyone I hang around with and dance with has a tatto and they all have some sort of special meaning to the wearer. It is very rare that you see tribal dancers or BMXers (of age to get one) without tattoos. These people are not trashy, in fact they are some of the nicest and well respected people around.
Honestly, I hate people who talk down on tattoed people. I would love to know what their opinion is of tribes who tattoo their members as a coming of age ritual. Would they still think they are so trashy?
guest
I think its both; classy and trashy. Depends what one chooses to get. I have one and well, I have some what traditional asian parents so yea, I got a lot of grief from them when I decided to get mine. I thought of getting it for 3years and finally got myself to get off my ass and get it. I don’t regret it at all. I took enough time to think about it and I chose a tattoo that represents a part of my life. My family accepted it, which is pretty awesome, and they don’t mind me getting another one. I’m actually deciding to get another one but I know I’ll take time to think about it before I do get it.
I guess there’s just too many people in the world that still can’t accept people and wants them to meet their standards. It’ll never go away, how racism never went away. It’s just the way people are raised and taught.
guest
i don’t think a tattoo can be considered “classy” for some reason.. it must be society’s foot print on my brain. But some tatts can be designed nicely and look cool with a timeless quality, while others just look garish and tacky. Meh, just do whatever floats your boat, but people have to accept the stigma that comes with it.
guest
I think it depends on the design and quality of the tattoo. I personally want to get a few tattoos one day but only those with a simple design and preferably small.
orchid / 103 posts
I do not have any stigmas against people with tattoos. I do not judge anyone who has one except maybe I think poorly of a man with a naked Betty Boop inked on his ankle or something of that nature.
I think most tattoos are hideous. I have a friend who got drunk and then got a giant tattoo of a scantily clad fairy all over her right leg and up to her thigh. She regrets it because it’s HUGE and she can’t ever erase it.
The only tatoos I find cute or tolerable are the little ones the size of a thumbnail or something with significant meaning like a cross to display your faith. My friend got a bumbleebee near her belly button. I asked her what it meant and she said, “I don’t know.” Huh. It was cool until I realized that to her, it was just a cartoon bee and it didn’t mean anything other than that. When she got pregnant, it stretched out and now it looks awful.
guest
I have nothing against tats but I did live in a very small town. You had a choice of jobs, the local hotel, one of the two restaurant’s, one of the two gas stations or the town. Only the gas stations allowed tats and we had a tat artist move to town and all the girls rushed over there and proceeded to cover their arms, necks and legs and a few other places with tats. Needless to say they soon found themselves unemployed and most ended up on welfare as well as a few guys. I knew most of these young ladies and have to say the tats they got did make them look quite trashy. I think tats that completely cover exposed skin does limit where you work until society catches up with the times.
guest
I’ve seen some really classy tattoos that are truly artforms. But for every one of those, I’ve seen 300 that looked like an amatuer in jr high handled the needle. The idea of letting someone place something on/under my skin that represents me and may not turn out quite as classy as I like… is not appealing. I am also like one of the readers above and what I like today may change in a year. I don’t want to be stuck with it.
I also can’t help but think of a tattooed society as we age. Tattoos on a tight-skinned 25 year old don’t look so bad. But I’ve seen some on someone 50+ and they looked gross. lol–I guess I don’t want to do that to my alter-aged-ego. And I think you can overdo your tat coverage. I was watching LA Ink when the girls all went to the beach in bakinis. I think that turned me off the most. From the distance shots, they looked dirty and covered in ash–not art. And how many times have I seen someone identified by their tattoo? I look pretty average and would fit into a crowd outside of my height. But plant Scooby-Doo on my arm and I’m a goner. lol! ‘Course, if everyone else gets a tattoo and I have none, I suppose I’d be just as easy to spot in a crowd. I’m doomed.
guest
I know plenty of people who have them. i think SOMe are trashy but it really depends on what the tattoo is/says. most i think can be personal and the person usually really likes it.
i have no tatoos nor piercings (not even my ears) because i’m weird and want to be one of the few people without either. however, i don’t think down on anybody that has um. lots of people have really nice tattoos. i think they’re brave. i think it would hurt!
guest
I think it totally depends on what the person wants the tattoo to say about them. Just because my friend has a butterfly tattoo or my aunt having a sun and moon doesn’t make them a part of a gang or ex-cons. Tattoos are expressions of someone, art. So I won’t judge a person on there tattoo, I try and see what the picture is.
guest
@charlieseros@xanga - i agree, it depends on what the tattoo looks like. i have one across my lower back. i went w/ a cherry blossom branch w/ it’s corresponding meaning in kanji. i wouldn’t get another one again (i’m still a little queasy w/ needles), but i’m amazed when i see people who have numerous tattoos & how they can endure it still.
guest
i have a butterfly tattoo on my right shoulder. i know some people say that tattoos represent being in gangs and such, but thats bull. we’re in a different society now, and tattoos are a form of art. i dont regret mine either. it symbolizes important events in my life, and i can tell a story about my tattoo. my parents know about it, and they got used to it, they kinda freaked in the beginning but they’re not old fashioned. im not gonna cover it up on my wedding day.. lol. im gonna be like. voila. there it is. =)
guest
It all depends on what the tattoo is of and where the tattoo is located. I have a heart on the underside of my left wrist. A coworker of mine once snottily informed me that tattoos are against God’s wishes, etc.
guest
Well I only have one,but I love it. When I was getting mine I specifically told the guy I wanted it to look classy.. I think it depends on how you wear them. If you have a naked chick or a penis with a face on your body, that is in no way shape or form classy. When I see people with tattoo’s my first thought is to judge, but I don’t know why. My second thought is I wonder what is behind it. Mine is my daughters middle name. I guess some people can consider it “mutalation” ?? I don’t know exactly, but I think its ridiculous that someone would tell you, you won’t get married or a job? Who are they to say that??
guest
It just depends in what kind of tattoo it is and where. I like them, and I would like them on myself too but it’s just that.. I would get bored on those tattoos, just like i get bored in my clothing styles. And yeah then what? My dad has tattoo’s too. But they’re very old, they’re from the times that there were not much colors. They’re all green! He’s got an eagle with a snake, a snake with a knive and another thing, on his upper and lower arms. They suit him. It’s just about how it fits with someone.
guest
all or nothing: either don’t get any or get something big like a sleeve or a chest piece.
guest
I just got both of mine in sept. I’m happy before I was hung up on the fact that there permanent … yet I got mine where no one can see them but me…. I’m very happy sometime I even for get they r there… they both are random… and represent me… so I think if they are tasteful {not like naked ladies with huge perky tites} then there fine. DO YOU lol
guest
They care because they have to look at them. If one were about God they’d bitch about how they’re imposing their views. Plus, the “old people” theory.
guest
I think it depends on the size, location and design. Could be sexy. Could be a turnoff. But I don’t think it’s inherently trashy at all.
guest
I think tattoos are pretty awesome.
I have one of a tangerine on my right leg. My boyfriend got really mad at me when he first found out (I told him ahead of time but I guess he didn’t think I’d do it). I don’t think they’re inherently trashy, but I have seen some that are just really stupid looking. But I don’t really care what other people put on their bodies. It doesn’t bother me.
I want to get at least a couple more.
guest
I usually love people with tattoos.
But they’re not for me.
I even enjoy drawing people with tattoos.
But I wouldn’t want to marry a guy with sleeves.
D: So I’m somewhere in the middle.
I don’t think they’re trashy, but they’re far from classy.
guest
I have 2.
I get grief.
I love them.
guest
i have a tattoo and i love it. its tasteful. its a swallow and a flower and its on my upper ribcage. my bra covers it. i think as long as they arent trashy, they are meaningful, and are strategically placed – theres no reason for it to look bad. im probably getting two more after i get married.
guest
i think tats should enhance the body part they are on by following the curves of the body.
i like them on shoulders, upper arms, backs, back & side of necks, thighs, feet, and side of the torso, but not on the chest, outside of lower arm, face, stomach, hands…
i don’t like logos, the superman tat is on too many people!! get a more personalized design that represents you, not someone else’s franchise!
dragons, tigers, phoenixes are my fave because of the lines and textures. i don’t like b&w shaded portraits or things with realistic hair, so i don’t like kat von d’s tats, but i like some of the stuff she does on other ppl.
i don’t like tats of lions (too much hair) or panthers (too much black).
i have relationships with my tats, where i love them sometimes because they help me show self expression, sometimes i wish they weren’t there (when i’m rejected for a casting because of it), and most of the time i forget they’re there.
tats are better than no tats! you only live once, so express yourself!

Lol, People are always so shocked that I have tattoos, even though their noticeable.
One time about two summers ago, I was at the beach with a friend and we were just talking about nothing and all the sudden she shakes her head and was like, I never notice your tattoos your just such a girl. It’s funny because I had been laying next to her on a towel where by big back piece and had been all day.
Nobody has every held it against me for having a tattoo. I would cover it up for my wedding only because I love my grandma and if she were there I would do it for her, but other than that, whenever I wear a ballgown (like for the Marine ball every year) I’ll get more compliments on my bird then on my dress.
I love them and I would never take them back.

i am very girly and have piercings and am getting a tattoo soon! we have many old fashioned people living in our world today and i think they are bothered by tattoos and piercings, thinking they are ”of the devil” “not lady like” or “trashy” but they need to get over it! thanks for posting

i got stares when i had lip piercings, but it was from older people.
and i get compliments about my tatt which is always showing. so hmm it’s just adults that judge me, people my age love my tattoo, though they do look down upon the fact i want a sleeve.i think they’re hot, not trashy at all. i am sick of typical shit tho. spider web on the elbow is just retarded looking to me.

they seem kind of masculine to me, i never wanna get a tattoo, maybe a stick on, but nothing permanent. i just don’t see why they are so great.

I recently got a tattoo of a chinese quote that holds special significance for me, and I don’t think it’s trashy at all. One of my good friends also has a tattoo. His is of a tiger and he has it on his arm. It suits him well actually and it looks pretty good on him.

i loveeeeeee tattoos
i just turned 19 and in only one year i got three done. i plan on going into nursing so i don’t want to get any tattoos that are noticeable. if it were more excepting, i would definitely have a sleeve. oh and i hate it when people tattoo their names on themselves, what’s the point??!?!?!?

For me, it depends on what the tattoo is, where it is, and how well it’s done for me to warrant a “classy” or “trashy” label.

tatttoos are desired ONLY by the depraved minded of society
and sadly that is becoming the majority

I have three tattoos, but they are all non visible except when I have a bathing suit on. Two of them are really cultural/heritage/religious symbols, which look more like a tribal than anything, and the other one is a tribute to all my sex partners, close to my thigh.
I loooove tattoos… but I think, on women at least, they shouldn’t be so visible because they make you look a lil bit less professional.

I personally love tattoos and everything about them. I have a good amount at the moment and I’m still working on finishing up my right sleeve. I’ve always gotten negative reactions to mine. Some people like them and some don’t. Just because you have tattoos doesn’t mean you can’t have a job, I have two. Lots have people said I’m “going to hell” “never going to make it in life” but those are just people responding to something that makes them feel uncomfortable. You can’t ever let people get you down. For the whole ‘classy or trashy’ concept I think it definitely depends on the the person in every way.
