My friend, Maggie, was complaining about what an animal she is when it comes to snacking at weddings. She won’t let a plate of hor d’oeuvres go by her. I personally think that weddings are depressing gatherings designed to make single people feel bad about themselves, so I’d say, “Eat all you want. You’re a trooper for just being there!”
Maggie’s sister, however, recommended the clutch diet. We all had deer-in-headlights expressions until she explained that you hold a clutch in one hand, and thus only have the other hand to grab food with. It decreases hand-to-mouth intake by at least a half. It sounded ridiculous, but the girls at a Weight-Watchers-like establishment across the street swore by it.
Whether or not the clutch diet actually works, clutches are the must-have accessory of the season. They add a little glamor to every outfit, and you can be as colorful as you want and still look classy. Here are some of my favorite picks:
So, how do you feel about the clutch diet? What are your special-occasion accessory secrets?

I’m not one for accessories. But I think this diet is hilarious. It probably does work too. I can see that happening.

How funny…the clutch diet, lol,
My mother has told me about the fork diet, putting the fork down, but I can’t resist. The only time I don’t feel bad about eating so much is T-giving and Christmas, then it’s back to exercise. I would walk 10 miles a day IF only I had time as I love to walk, lol. I can’t wait til I’m 65…not going to care how big I am or how ugly, lol,

Y’know some people might laugh at this but Paul McKenna teaches about a distraction type of eating where your mind is focused on what you’re eating rather than other things, so holding something in your hand would be a good way to eat smaller portions, another thing Paul McKenna teaches ahah, and that yellow clutch is gorgeous!

That’s an interesting concept. I never really liked clutches because I hate carrying them around but I love that Bombay Clutch, it’s purdy.

I love those clutches you got here. Beautiful especially the yellow one.

I have too much stuff to carry around to ever have a clutch. between the keys (house and car), wallet, cellphone, lipstick, hand lotion, and the kitchen sink, I depend on pure willpower to avoid the snacks.

Well, for those of us who actually HATE purses of all sorts . . . For many people, eating is just natural. You have food in front of you, so you eat, and finish the plate, even if you aren’t that hungry. So, eat with the wrong hand. My sister recommends it. She’s right handed, so she eats with her left hand. She has to remind herself to eat, then, because it’s not a natural movement. This hesitation makes her question whether not she’s really hungry. Cost nothing

using a clutch can also hide your tummy from bulging

Sounds like some pretty tricky psychology to me!

I like clutches. They are so cute to match any “boring outfit.” The black clutches are the best, cause they match every outfit!

cute clutches. i might try it the next time there’s another event. but am afraid it might not work tho.

ahaha this is some clever psychology! and it probably works too! i’m one of those girls that leaves her purse at the table so that she can hold a plate in one hand and put in as many appetizers as she desires ahahah

i’ma hafta try it…
