When model Jean Shrimpton stepped out at the Victoria Derby in Melbourne in a white shift ending 10cm above her knees, she shocked the world. That was over 40 years ago and my, how times have changed.

These days, an oversized shirt (or even lingerie) qualifies as a dress. Underwear? Optional. Personally I love a bit of leg but there’s a point where everything becomes unflattering, tacky and downright obscene. Even the girl with the longest legs looks a bit worse for wearing a Britney-flashing ensemble.

Take Gossip Girl’s Blake Lively for example. She’s a gorgeous girl with a gorgeous figure. So why does the costume department insist on dressing her in too short, too tight clothes?

Oh dear. The poor girl is in danger of being mistaken for a tranny.

How short is too short? Does being tall or having long legs mean you can wear whatever you want?
